Kouji really should have been aware considering who he was working with, but at the same time Hitoshi was someone who got the gist of something without needing to be read to. And if he was enjoying it…

Well, might as well enjoy this repeating job while they were at it.

Kouji began to join in, striking things around the room until the Ditto came out, throwing his knives, kicking it, punching it, until something would come out. It was pretty fun, wasn’t it? Almost therapeutic.

Tailing people was an annoying job, you had to watch every single one of your actions, and still appear natural. He had done it for small-time robberies, and Kouji liked to think he was a consummate actor in such things, but the truth was a little different. He had worked on such traits, dipping in and out of view while pretending to type on his Rotom-Phone.

The man was skittish, so the place he’d feel most comfortable was near his home; Kouji knew that was the moment in which he could close the distance, running before that point in time was a pointless endeavour, and when the man made that turn…

Kouji pounced, the space had been reduced gradually, and when that moment came, he charged into the man; shoulder first to take them both into the ground, but the flash of red told him that he had managed to reach for his pokeball, and Kouji almost came face first with an Ariados, while he pressed his to release Iron Jugulis,

It was a large pokemon, the random series of clicks that showed its mechanical body working were one thing, but Kouji held his grip on the man as he tried to get out from under him, he’d leave Ariados to Iron Jugulis.

”You’ll have to come with us.” He didn’t need to look around to know that Tori was around somewhere nearby, and so his iron dragon took the bug into its mouth and away from the two of them.

It started small.

His eyes opened up slightly wider, and his breath hitched in his throat, that sight had taken down his work, but at the same time, that sight had also been their saviour once, that metal that ate all night.

But to Kouji, it only held bad memories, and in that lightless unreflectiveness, he could see it, the eye he had lost, the leg that had stopped working, pain that touched his skin with each and ever single breeze. How each morning had brought unimaginable pain by just putting on his clothes, how the simple act of holding a pen shook him.

It all came back to pain.

It was fun.

He couldn’t deny it, to not be fatigued and throw them was easy for the man laying out the training, but right now, he was just aiming carefully then throwing them, he picked up the speed the more he got used to Howard’s own pace.

Just aim, shoulder, hip, side of the leg, side, back, and a softer one to the head, he wasn’t trying to kill the man afterall.

Even if it might have seemed that way.

Kouji kept doing it, and his smile only got bigger, being the one in charge for training did seem like something up his alley now that he thought about it. Yet, he could feel it, the moment Howard would duck, Kouji threw it lower; it was almost as if he could read the person.

”Oh yeah, dodge training. Shit.” He said as he stopped trying to predict, it was for a runaway attack. ”You’ll love me in your first fight, but try not to love me too much, alright? I don’t swing that way.”

”I’ll take vanilla, chocolate’s to overly sweet, can’t handle stuff like that.” He hummed aloud just as he saw something from the corner of his vision, it was Grimmsnarl, he brought out his own pokemon, Absol, to begin a clobbering.

Absol was quick, switching to a rapid sucker punch, but just as a power-up punch came from the Grimmsnarl, Absol used detect to avoid the blow. It ended up striking the air, but was hit by a kick just as Kouji threw out his pokeball. ”Can’t let a pokemon like that go, he’ll be useful.”

He gave Desiree his full attention once more, Kouji looked at her before he shrugged. ”Not like I mind either way, I’m getting a cake for free…Is it for free?”

He wondered, but then again shrugged as he left the question there.

Kouji laid there on the mat, he didn’t want the hand up; he needed to let his ankle rest just a little bit longer before he got onto it, maybe give it a massage as he sat up and did just that, looking up at Zev with a glare.

But he massaged his foot before he replied, to let the man drink his water, and finish speaking, it was better to have a conversation when they were closer to being level, and the moment he felt more comfortable, Kouji did just that.

”Tch shut up, you’ve made your point enough times. Yeah yeah, I ain’t a lump of iron, I thought what I was saying was cool, and I was a hotter shot than I was, is that what you want to hear?” He understood that well enough, Eris had shown him up a dozen times by using her brain, running on his impulses only got him stuck in a dungeon, and he had seen enough times how far people shot up by just thinking things through, applying what they had intelligently.

He’d seen it himself when he had begun to do the same.

Still, hearing Zev talk like that only brought back terrible memories, and a fear he had believed he had gotten over. It was a simple fact that Kouji couldn’t bury even after the years in that world, or the months since he had returned.

Kouji looked across at the younger boy, if anything he could act under pressure, he was calm, and he was directing him well.

There was something else to it all, was it self-assuredness or was it overconfidence? Kouji couldn’t quite tell. ”That’s fine, as long as you hurry up, I don’t care. Me and my pokemon just wanna brawl.” He said as he allowed himself to be guided towards the outside training area.

His two pokemon were a simple choice, Absol and Kommo’o, the dream tag team, or something to that extent. The two pokemon appeared in a flash of red, already bearing their teeth but neither having shot ahead before they got to the battlefield, and there Kouji stood across from Hideo.

”Don’t regret letting me start, Route two.” Kommo’o was the first to begin in that case, as he gave a powerful leer at the two pokemon, a powerful pressure that made it harder to defend.

”Absol, Night Slash.” A variation, route two was intended to be a followed up with sucker punch, but instead Absol used his horn before he rushed in, growing larger and darker with energies as he aimed for what he saw as the bigger threat, Medicham.

Kouji could hear the voice behind him, of Velvet taunting the ghost.

But he shook his head as he kept his senses sharp, yet a blue glow, eerie as it was comforting took over the surroundings. Whatever it was, it had stayed satisfied by just playing some pranks, so Kouji began to move upwards again, up the stairs to reach a more comfortable location, a place they could fight from. He hadn’t been here before, or he might have called for Sableye to help out in that regard.

”You alright? Think almost pulled you to your death. Woulda thought that’d be over for ya.” He said as he continued to walk, he didn’t go for his pokemon just yet, he didn’t feel the need.

The decisive difference.

It was easy enough to understand, but Kouji felt it directly as he went to block the kick with his arms, but that meant he wasn’t bracing his crank protecting leg, and the opened gap between his legs.

Fatal Mistake.
[break][break]
He should have known, but then again, he had only learnt ground defence, not ground offense, the didn’t know the transitions, Aikido was far too underdeveloped in that area, and so he found himself stuck in a heel hook. As far as locks went, this was one of the most brutal, it attacked the hip, knee, and ankle at the same time.

The pain even half cranked was unbearable, and Kouji tapped immediately, he didn’t want to scream in pain in-front of this person, not anymore. He gritted his teeth hard as the sound tried to will its way up to his throat.

This was the brutality of the world of martial arts, a part of him had only finally noticed that the moment he had been taken down, it had been his loss. ”Tch, fuck’s sake.” He complained aloud, a hiss of pain accompanying it.

Kouji looked at the charging horse pokemon, and the battling Typhlosion, it was a good battle, and a good exercise.

”It sure does, there’s a bunch of these weird pokemon around that don’t like like they belong.” The first one he’d point to was his own Samurott, who he then brought out. It was better to avoid other pokemon joining in this battle, and so as he saw the Purloin about to join in.
[break][break]
Samurott was quick to charge. ”Use a sacred sword, switch it around.” Kouji quickly called out to his pokemon, who charged forward with a red glow on his horn, slashing at the Purloin.
[break][break]
Just as Kouji threw his pokeball forward to catch the Purloin, he had thought against it for a singular moment before he decided it might be worthwhile to play it out.

"Wanna train together?" He posed the question, two were better than one afterall.
