”Congratulations on the promotion, your mind will be of even more use to Rocket.” Though, he still wondered if Kaname had the panache, the weight to handle that kind of position, he hadn’t seen the man in action himself. ”But don’t take offence if I hold little love for anyone that ended up in Hammerlocke.” He cracked his neck both ways.

He had manned the walls, guarded the town, created a crime group, got captured, and then the rest was hell. He had grown fond of them with time, but the greater the fondness, the greater the hate in the end. Kaname was perhaps the first he had interacted with as a partner, even if Jayden was his in, and even if he had met others earlier in his life.

But in this case, they were out on the hunt for whoever was behind it. The person he was partnered with, Gerald Kaiser, was someone interesting to be sure.

”You got any hunches?” Sootopolis wasn’t small by any means, and more importantly, it was gone from one of their warehouses, to put it simply, Kouji didn’t have a single clue on just where it could be.

Just when it had gone, some point last night. Was it some police plant? Or was it some members that had their own ideas? He didn’t think the league would play with toys that big, or dangerous to the populace, but he had been surprised before.

”Once before, got our asses beat up by the ghost. It should be much better this time though.” Kouji ran a hand through his hair as he looked up at the large building, he didn’t really think to be doing something like this again either. ”We’ll take a look to see it’s range and other things, we’ll have time to kill after ghost hunting.” He wasn’t sure whether she was new or not, but there was a lot of menial jobs.

Still, he opted to lead the way, to grab the large door. The bottom level was large, a huge spiral staircase, and a room in the back? Most likely for maintenance. ”How long you been a part of Rocket?” He asked over his shoulder as he began to climb the stairs, it was cooler in here than it was outside.

Kouji ran a hand through his hair as he walked through route 114, it was a unique place, just west of Fallabor town. There was that strange man and his hut at the top, and the meteorites that dotted the bottom, but most of the route was quite nice to look out.

But Kouji wasn’t quite here for that to begin with, he was here to test out a variety of things, but mostly to bolster his own team. It was a good place, supposedly filled with dark types.

But the first thing he saw a Typhlosion? Most likely a regional variant, and the trainer next to him, almost close in height. As he saw them, Kouji gave a wave.”Hey, you training out here? There’s some tough pokemon in the area, so keep an eye out.”

Why the hell was he being so nosy anyway? It was as if he talked and moved before getting a chance to think over it properly. His eyes glanced over the purple flames, it was cool; different.

”A Regional Variant huh? Where’s the guy from?” As a Rocket, he really needed to read more.

”The Board does as they want, we just follow along and maybe one day, you’ll be on there.” Kouji said with a chuckle, he wasn’t sure it was really that easy, most of them were Kanto veterans, and those that weren’t had been around for a while. They were strong, and they had a very special factor about them.

He tapped the top of the glass before he finally steeled himself to make his decision. ”But that’s enough looking for now, I think I know what I want. You made your decision yet, I’ll make it a treat.” Security was on all sides, that much couldn’t be argued with, and at the same time, they would be ready to bring out their Pokemon, it was important to time this one well.

”Stay close, and pick.” He was sure they were being tipped off now, but Kouji dropped his pokeballs fast, releasing his pokemon, Greninja and Sableye. ”Smoke it, and grab.” And smokescreen went up in a flash, covering the area in a thick smog.

Sableye sunk into its own shadow, hands coming from within the glass case.

He stopped himself and his eyes went straight up to the T.V, his eyebrow rose, Cable in a breakroom? ”We coulda used that for something else…” He could hear the song, now was it on purpose that this man was listening to it?

Kouji didn’t know, but he looked at Howard, his eyes narrowing just a little bit, before his eyes went back onto the T.V, and then back to Howard. Then he returned to neutral with a shrug, his blended meal in a cup, he went to sit down near the man, and drink it down.

It definitely smelt like a full-english breakfast, but at the same time, no-one could consider it to look like one, and it was certainly too late for one. ”The hell is Brycen man about? Is it one of those shows that just exist to show off Idol music?” Shit, he showed his card far too early, now this guy would think he was a freak.

So he leaned back, put his arm on his armrest, and then took a big gulp of his drink, it rolled down comfortably, and he found himself staring at the T.V

Kouji couldn’t think properly, not with the Absol that constantly bumped his side, it would have been fine were it not for the strong spike dug into his corner. It was almost like he was getting stabbed.

He gave Absol another slushie that he had blended before it was knocked to the side by the irate Dark Type, the king of his pokemon, or so it went. Right now, he was pretending to be the King of the house.

Still, he was back in Rustboro, in his old childhood home, the only person here was him, as it had almost always been. His father…Was most likely still in that hospital, if he had to take a guess. And now, he was waiting for his ‘underling’ Dirk, who he had messaged to get here.

If the man viewed him as a boss, might as well pull on that just a little bit. ”Hey hey, Absol, I get it. We’ll have a dinner party, alright?” And the Dark type huffed aloud.

Kouji looked over his shoulder and chuckled just a bit; it was definitely getting busy huh? ”Pirates huh? They sure have a lot of freetime, don’t they? I get that every kid wants to be a pirate at some point, but I didn’t think some people would take it that far.”

It was a subtle jest, his voice rang with some mirth before he went into his thoughts, he hummed aloud. He had a few hobbies, but he stated the one that he could actually consider one, instead of simply training. ”Calligraphy, I like the process of carefully turning a singular stroke into art, really good for relaxing as well, I recommend it.”

Kouji considered hobbies a waste of time, but he couldn’t let go of that one, it was too calming, too comfortable.

”Can’t really use that to pass the time here, how about yourself?” He asked hoping for something that would pass the time in this case, like he’d just have to be too lucky for their mark to attack now, wouldn’t he?

Kouji shook his head side to side for a moment as if mirroring his pokemon before he let out a chuckle and gave a shrug. ”Hey, hurry on up.” The man over his shoulder wouldn’t stay out cold forever, and Kouji wasn’t that satisfied just leaving it like this.

Still, when it came to company, he could’ve done a lot worse than Isaac, the man’s philosophy, it wasn’t borne of some naive hope, or so Kouji believed. It seemed to be built up from experience, guys that experienced a hell of a time tended to go one of few ways, but this was the way that Kouji could appreciate the most.

”Depends on them, don’t it? If they want it or not, I’ve met all kinds of rockets. Those that didn’t have any hopes, and are just looking to hole up. Those that don’t know themselves yet, and those that think they do. Hell, we’ve got a good number of veterans who’ve frozen over, and others that’ve thawed. Rocket is that chance, first, second, whatever else. It doesn’t matter how much society shuns you here, places like this will always exist.”

Hell, he was sure in his ideal world, a group like rocket might well have been like Isaac here, pushing to protect people. ”Because they don’t want that hand to reach for them, it’s for people to drag themselves up while achieving the whole’s objectives together.” He seemed almost wistful, nostalgic as he thought about it. Kouji had spent a long time thinking about Rocket, well before he joined, hearing about it from his father, his siblings, those people he had seen during his trips to Kanto.

”But it’ll also drag some people to the abyss, well, that’s their own fault really. You going to help guys like that too? People who can only live by killing?”

Kouji smirked, but didn’t reply to her question, instead pointing his chin at the store as if saying the insides will pay for it. It was why they were here, the purpose of their little outing, and it seemed that it was time to really start. The grunt didn’t pay any extra attention to the security guards as he looked around the room, making sure to note everyone’s locations, where they stood, how they were moving.

It was certainly chaotic, a dance of lives intersecting for fleeting moments before returning to their own little bubbles of peace. It was disgusting, but then again, his goal was even more gross, so why would he complain?

He calmed down the thoughts, and retrained them onto his task, he could see the myriad of gemstones, jewels, right in front of him. His eyes lingered on a large emerald for a second, before brushing over the sapphires, and rubies.

”Really? The company already has their hands full with homebase, can’t be going that far out. Well, I don’t mind either way, means there’s more “work” for me to dig my teeth into.” He said with a chuckle as he tapped the top of the glass.

”Hey, how do you think that one would look on ya?” Kouji looked down at a large pearl necklace, a part of him wondered it came from a Clamperl or a cloyster but those were simple details.
