Jett let his eyebrow rise up, if this man really thought he could win out; that was a whole different thing. The Kleavor that jumped out at him was met by another pokemon, a different pokemon; a Gallade. His Ralts, which had been pushed to the limits throughout this entire run, in this event, had grown again and again,

It met the Kleavor’s strike with its own, a shockwave took over the area, and Jett was stuck staring into Hitoshi’s eyes once more.

”Sorry, I had a thought. A man like you can’t be allowed to run wild.” He said as he cracked his neck, might as well go in for it. His gun, the barrel was sealed, a choice he had made a long time ago, covered; but Jett jumped in, dashed in to the very middle to meet the man, swinging it around like a melee weapon.

Jett couldn’t help but try to hide the grimace that came from the following actions, it was problematic in a sense. Not only did they charge forward, the number of pokemon in front of them was problematic. There were ways to deal with it, his mind immediately went for burying the trainers, the fastest solution; just kill them.

But he beat that thought down, beat it down, forced it back, his jaw clenched tightly, and then it was gone, but by the time he had done so; Honedge had beaten itself into a stupor, its eyes. Thrown forward by the air-sphere, it had gone for the Night slash, a dark blade the covered itself but it was crushed forward; the venusaur hit an earth power, an explosion of force from below; that knocked it out immediately.

”Good work Bricket, you’re up next Lucky.” He said as he drew it back, before taking out his Remoraid. His pokemon looked surprised to be out here, but she seemed to agree immediately, a rise of energy rising from her in a moment; focus energy.

”Alright, Ice Beam.” A stream of ice that shot itself towards the Venusaur, to hit it with an ice type move, the fight was back again.

Jett let out a small chuckle at the expression of the Lucario, but that pokemon went with it smoothly; the bruises, marks, and everything seemed to heal just fine. The pokemon was done for, and so they were recalled. ”Bit of both, think they got scared off. But they ain’t gonna leave it just there. We’ll have to recover what we can in that time.” He said as he ran a hand through his hair.

There was no point in explaining more, no point in expanding on this more, the reasons were beyond simple and straightforward. He looked over his shoulder, where the rift was and now the place they were guarding. How many trainers would they try this time? Was it a directive from above, or the movements of willful gunts.

”Well, we get to rest, so let’s not be too disappointed. Looks like they cared about their pokemon though.” That meant they weren’t too far gone, that was good, that was something he could deal with.

It was obvious that Honedge was at the edge of his rope, but that wasn’t going to keep her down for long. ”Alright, you’ve got this Bricket.” He cheered her on, it seemed that she was more used to hands, hopping into the Lucario’s own, it was her place to be, and yet it was at that point she began to leak a killing intent, as if she was finally in the place she needed to be, to slice at those across from her.

A red shine as she sharpened herself further, her blade was as sharp as one could be, it was at it’s strongest attacking strength. ”Shadow sneak.” As a pure steel type, it was only natural that it lost its resistance, metal sound was a problematic move, but she had some resistance to it, and she could tell Lucario did too. Her shadow expanded massively, covering the field, and a blade jumped from it to stab Aggron in the shoulder once more.

It was a vicious attack that went for the back of the knee, where his metal joints didn’t properly connect. A happy thrill from her, able to engage in bloodsports once more, even if her trainer had turned into being a goodie two-shoes.

”Thunder fang, not sure if Honedge can take the Fire Fang.” He said with a smirk as it struck; it was working well; the two of their pokemon. He wasn’t sure how much Honedge could take, but it had strengthened itself. ”Iron Head.” It’s metal sheen became even more so as electricity coursed through it, fast movements from the Mightyena joined it.

A fast slash against the crashed Aerodactyl, and then a switch back into ice, and the Sacred sword against the Aggron, bouncing between the two enemies almost comfortably without a second concern.

”Alright, we-.” That was until the moment they began to glow, an overwhelming look and sound even, that illuminated the entire area, A Mega evolution of the two pokemon, their types changed, their looks changed, and a powerful roar that took over the space.

”Well…We might just have to try that fire fang anyway.”

Jett smirked at the sight. ”Aye, she’s a good lass, Bricket. I have an Aegislash I left back at mine, she’s easier to work with. He’s more of the shell type, she’s the attacking one.” Using them both at once was a pretty worthwhile prospect, one of his favorite combos alongside Remoraid or Blastoise.

”Use Sacred Sword.” It had sharpened itself, it had the pace that Mighteyena was providing to him, now it was a matter of just slashing through the Aggron, who took a large gash to his armor, cracks that spread to the rock underneath, it wasn’t something that it could simply shrug off, but the Aerodacyl was quick to jump into the fray.

But the covering of the shell, a singular protective layer that would take any attack took the stone edge; and absorbed it; sitting within itself, and leaving the two without a scar on them. ”Alright, Shadow Sneak.” The shadow around Bricket expanded, until the moment it burst out from beneath Aerodactyl, striking it with a blade of shadows.

”You’re too spontaneous, how the hell do you expect us to keep up with the great champion so fast?”

Jett bit down just before, the pocky broke up in the moment, that was an issue at the end of the day. ”More intimate that way.” He returned with a smirk; just as their pokemon collided with them, a perfect tag team attack that buried the pokemon, and that bought even more time for Cyclizar to jump off, sending a Dragon Claw into the ceiling itself; to fill the ditch with rocks.

It was a perfect tag-team, almost like their trainers. The rockets seemed to be shocked just as much as annoyed; a red glow from their pokeballs showed them just drawing their pokemon back before they threw out two more, an Aerodactyl and an Aggron, two strong pokemon, with a strong presence.

”This could be a problem. Shed Tail boy.” He told his Cyclizar, who left behind a shell right where his Honedge appeared, a shedding of its body before withdrawing back into the pokeball. Honedge began to dance on that moment, as if sharpening his own blades; a shout of pride from him.

”Let’s kick it up a gear, yeah?”

Jett couldn’t help but be a little bit concerned with the reactions of the girl nearby, she was panicking over something, but he couldn’t put his mind as to what. The ceiling had a shine of ice, an extra layer that would hopefully hold it there. Still, they had two strong trainers in front of them. ”Remoraid, I believe in you.” He told his pokemon, who had begun to aim her attack at the ground, a large blast of water which had begun to make the ground moist; he wasn’t aiming for that pokemon in specific, but it was immediately followed by a blast of ice which had turned the ground even harder than before causing the Steelix to come back up.

”Cyclizar, get ready to shift gears, Remoraid, use Hydro pump again.” He said as he sat upon his Pokemon’s back again, right as the ground was made to shake with an earthquake again, the sandstorm was getting thicker; it was scratching at his skin, and even that of his pokemon.

”Julia. We’re working together, don’t worry. We won’t let anything bad happen to you, trust me.” It was a platitude, but he said the words regardless, he wasn’t sure what she was scared of. But at the same time, not everyone had a violent background like he did.

”We’ll pull out and win, it doesn’t matter what these guys have to say. They’ll just end up losing anyway.”

Jett smirked at the offer but he shook his head. ”If I let you go free, more people will end up dying.” His answer came rather quickly, and yet it was Cyclizar that had no choice but to fix up, his body churned with gear switched; it had taken a large blow already, but that would just have to do.

”No. Shed Tail.” He said as he had his pokemon leave a shedding behind, forcibly shedding its outer skin; letting it out for any longer would be a disaster, the other pokemon would eat him alive and Jett knew that, honedge came out back out instead. ”Let’s just see, whether you can beat me first, or I get back up first.”

Jett didn’t believe he was a stronger trainer than this person, he couldn’t say whether it was a matter of instincts, or the difference in opening moves. But this was the kind of battle he didn’t see himself winning, it had been a long time since he had felt himself reach this point.

”Really? Here? Right now?” Jett couldn’t really believe it, he had said it as a joke but the moment Kyle stepped in, he just shrugged, it was whatever. It wasn’t anything new or strange, he closed his eyes, and he bit down on the stick of pocky, sharing it with his old friend, on both ends.

But Cyclizar was having a different time, the dragon swung his claw towards the air; clashing with a focus blast; meeting in the middle, and coming to an explosive stop; but the smoke parted in a moment as a quick attack parted it, causing the pokemon to flinch back, before the blue claw of his slashed up, and he could hear the sounds of an Electivire coming towards him, throwing the Magmortar towards it.

The two pokemon clashed in the middle, he dug his feet into the dirt, both his speed and attack rose, before he mentally locked on his attack. The ground caved underneath his feet, before he charged forward; a full body charge that would certainly hurt him a lot less than it would hurt the other two.

Still he howled as he threw himself through the air, as if to get the Mightyena to join him in the battle that would be coming.

”Neon, a codename huh?” He said as he patted Cyclizar’s head in order to motivate him to go even faster, to push on even harder. His pokemon could do it, he believed in him, but that wasn’t the most important one. ”Confuse ray is the call, now we’re in a cityscape…We can get it to knock itself out if we’re lucky.” The way it rolled was concerning.

But the changing shapes, it wasn’t as if it was just a road, or a place, every road met up to a large one, that finally rolled into a bicycle lane. It was like his stomping grounds had gotten expanded by a great deal.

”Once you use Confuse Ray, I’ll…” He said as he went into his pocket, calling out his Remoraid, Lucky. A pokemon he could trust for something like this, gently cupping her in his hand. He got ready to fire an Ice Beam, the pokemon charged up, and aimed towards the floor in front of the large Donphan-esque pokemon.

Jett nodded at that, it made sense; no point in a victory that didn’t feel like one. A phyrric victory is what smarter men might have called it, but he just called it a loss by any other name. Yet, he hadn’t thought of that possibility until Kyle pointed it out. It seemed that there definitely was something to the title of Top Champion, but that was to be expected, it was the trainer who sat at the top of the entire region.

”Cyclizar, get ready, shift into gear.” It was a turn of phrase and a command as an almost mechanical sound emanate from the dragon that acted as his mount, it’s eyes glowed as it looked out into the depths of the cave.

”Sounds like they’re going to call in some backup.” Cyclizar eyed the Magmortar. ”We’ll take the left, you take the right.” He said as he patted the head of Bubby, before hardening his eyes. ”Alright, give the usual opener.” A roar followed his announcement as a blue energy surrounded its claws, Bubby charged forward; it’s legs kicking off the floor with a strong burst to close the distance, the Magmortar jumped to the side but was immediately followed.

Yet Jett’s eyes never left the two rockets.

Jett laughed. ”Aye, I’ve had Ralts ready to run from the moment I walked into this place.” But that was all, he hadn’t run at any moment yet. There was a prize on the head of the man across from him, a huge amount even. So he wouldn’t leave so easily, not after reuniting. The less Kyle knew about that, the better.

”Only twenty four hours. So, how do you plan to end this, what’s the help you need?” He said as he crossed his arms, it felt like the man across from him was playing coy. There was a lack of a light, maybe that was why Jett didn’t feel like entertaining the idea of a real career.

Or maybe that was just another excuse to add to the pile.

”It sounds like you don’t believe in your own chances of winning.” He said as he ran a hand through his hair, his expression was even, it was a question that didn’t need asking, he felt as if he knew the answer already. ”You’re the light of this side, if you lose even a bit of that, others will too. Well, not me.” His smirk only grew as he ended that line.
