It wasn't that he didn't want the older male with him; he had just fallen into old habits. Habits he had had when dealing with his brothers. How he often went out of his way to get them something while they had waited on the sidelines.

It wasn't until he had returned that he considered how weird it might seem to the other that he had decided to get them both drinks without seeing if he wanted to tag along. Or if it was even okay for him to go up by himself and get it. He knew some people got weird about this kind of stuff.

"Sorry if you wanted to tag along, old habits from when I used to deal with my brothers," he apologized somewhat amused, though if Victor were to really be paying attention he might catch an undercurrent of some other emotion under the amusement.

At the description of the flavor, he blinked. "Sounds weird, can't really complain though," he said, the last part being said jokingly.

One good thing about being unable to taste was one wasn't usually too picky about what one ate. So he would eat pretty much anything within reason.

"Fair enough," he said in agreement. There wasn't much more to say to something like that. Considering the fact that Aurora stayed by his side, it would be hypocritical of him to say it wasn't okay for Mischa to stay by her side. And if there was one thing he tried not to be, it was a hypocrite.

As Petra sent out her own Pokémon, a Weezing, to help with the perimeter, he allowed his gaze to take in their surroundings. Not that he hadn't been continuously doing so since he had arrived. Even the fact that Selene and Rory were keeping an eye on things wouldn't stop him. If there was one thing he had learned, it was to never let down one's guard.

As the howl sounded, he was quick to hold up his hand. The reason was made obvious when Aurora halted in her tracks as she had begun to charge towards her companion. Allowing his hand to drop, he regarded the Espeon before speaking. "While it's not bad to worry about Selene, who can handle herself, acting rashly will only cause more problems," he told the psychic type, a gentle reprimand in his tone.

Properly chastised, the Espeon flattened her ears before falling in behind her owner as they made their way to Selene.

As Mikael had stated, Umbreon could take care of herself. At the moment, she was going head to head with a Lycanroc whose attack she avoided by jumping to the side. Not wasting any time, she would hit the Lycanroc with a Dark Pulse before jumping aside as another Lycanroc joined the fray.[break] PETRA MONROE

After escaping, he didn't go too far with the prisoners. In a way, it was so he could rendezvous with Audric. However, he had another reason for not going too far. Before going too far, he had to ensure neither were injured. To his relief, neither were, and then all there was to do was wait for the younger man.

The reunion didn't take long, considering the grunts had been overwhelmed, and before too long, Khakkhara was by his side once more.

While the gratitude was well appreciated, now wasn't the time for it. He made a gesture to be quiet before turning his attention to the younger man.

He didn't much like the thought of the younger man putting himself in danger, but he didn't have a better idea. Besides, the younger male had already shown himself to be a proficient battler.

"Very well, but be careful," he cautioned, beckoning Khakkhara to follow as he began to lead the prisoners away.

When he was sure they were far enough away, he would release Helios, his Rapidash, from his Pokéball, allowing the two prisoners to ride on him while he chose to ride Khakkhara.[break] Audric Black

Well, he wasn't sure what he was trying to tell him. To him, it seemed like a bunch of nonsense. Before he could even try to figure out what the other was trying to tell him, the Houndoom was already on the move, charging into the camp with an Inferno.

Well, he supposed charging into the thick of things was one way to go about it. It probably caught them off guard with their sudden appearance.

With their attention focused on the Houndoom, he snuck around until he reached the prisoners. Motioning for the prisoners to be quiet, he began to guide them away from the fight. Though before he left, he did send out Khakkhara to help the Houndoom out. Also, sending her out had another use - it would keep the rockets from following them.

Upon being sent out, Khakkhara would immediately attack the Granbull with a Boomburst, further drawing attention away from the prisoners so Mikael and the prisoners could make their escape.[break] Audric Black

While he wasn't as ill at ease as his companion, he wasn't any less watchful. Being alert was kind of his thing, though. It came with the whole wanting to keep everyone safe aspect of his personality. So his eyes continually scanned their surroundings as they trekked through the forest.

However, it would seem the younger male caught onto something first. Him and their Pokémon, anyway.

Coming to a stop, he remained quiet as the sound of voices reached them. Well, it seemed they had found the Rockets and their captives sooner than anticipated. In fact, considering how close the voices were, if they had kept walking, they probably would've ended up running into them. Not good without some kind of plan.

Worried about being close enough that their own voices would carry, he pulled out his phone. Opening a text screen, he began to type before showing him the message written on the phone.

"How do you want to go about this? If we continue on this path, we're bound to run right into them, but they'll definitely see us coming."

They could continue on this path, or they could cut through the trees and circle around until they came up behind the Rockets and their captives.[break] Audric Black

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Audric," he said, inclining his head to the younger male after shaking his hand, his gaze flickering briefly to the Houndoom. His own Pokémon were making sure the way behind them was clear to avoid any surprise attacks from the rear, something he wouldn't put past the team.

As if his thoughts had summoned them, Aurora, his Espeon, and Selene, his Umbreon, returned to his side. Considering how at ease they were, he didn't think there was anything to worry about from behind them, which meant they could press ahead.

Following the others' gaze down to the forest below, he resisted the urge to wince. Woods had never been his cup of tea. Too many places to hide for his taste. Anything could be waiting for them among those trees.

As he realized just what Tavish planned to do, he froze in shock. Part of him was screaming that it was too dangerous. That if he got caught, he was done for. It was that part that kept him rooted to the spot. It was also that part that made him want to run out and get the Brute Bonnets' attention on himself before the other got hurt or worse.

He couldn't allow someone to get killed again. And yet, the older male seemed to know what he was doing, and while he would be able to help, there was no doubt in his mind the researcher wouldn't be helpful in the least.

Tavish's voice jolted him out of his thoughts, and he gave the other a stern look. "You better make it," was his only response before he grabbed the researcher by the wrist and took off down a tunnel away from the Brute Bonnets with the scientist in tow.

"It's nothing really," he said a bit uncomfortably, bothered by the other males' show of gratitude. "Anyway, let's hurry and get done before the Brute Bonnets come back. Just follow my instructions, and we'll both find ourselves safe once more," he said as he started the climb back down, making sure he was being followed.

For a while, the silence was only broken when Mikael would give tips on a better way for the guy to position himself to make the climb down easier.

Hearing the warning, he had to resist cursing under his breath. Climbing down was taking longer than he had initially planned. There was one thing to speed up the process, however...

He wasn't sure if the other male would be up for it. It meant taking a bit of a gamble, after all.

Letting himself drop until he neared the last branch, he caught hold of it to slow his descent before allowing himself to drop the last few feet to the ground.

The guy still seemed uncertain but did as he was told, and Mikael caught him. The unexpected weight caused him to stumble slightly, but he managed to recover his balance before putting the other man down.

Luckily, the ice beams froze the two Sandy Shocks, taking them out of commission. It seemed that the Scream Tails were also done for. With them out, that left just the Flutter Mane as a threat. It was time to finish this and drive them back deep into Area Zero, where they wouldn't be a threat to anyone.

He was poised to give the order to focus their efforts on the Flutter Mane when it took damage. For a minute, he was surprised until he remembered Aurora using Future Sight right before Selene had fainted. The damage from that move was extensive, so he directed Crystal to finish it.

With her orders, the Glaceon used one last Ice Beam to cause it to faint like the others. "We did it, we protected Hoenn," he said with a sigh of relief.[break] Roy Aker

Aside from a quirked eyebrow, he ignored his testiness. "That was the plan. I wasn't planning on him just standing there to get beat on," he said as he took out a Pokéball and released the Kommo-o. "Draw them away, make as much noise as you can when you're a safe enough distance from our location, don't engage."

He didn't waste any time, giving short orders to make things go faster. Orders that would be easy enough for the Dragon-type to understand.

The Dragon-type seemed reluctant to leave his trainer's side, but in the end, he did as was asked of him. While the Brute Bonnets' attention was still fixed on the guy in the tree, he would take himself down closer to him. Once he was in a position that had him closer to the path on the other side, he would activate the move Clanging Scales, a move so loud it was sure to draw the attention of the Brute Bonnets.

Once Khakkhara had their attention, he would run down the other path after ensuring the Brute Bonnets would follow, probably due to being annoyed with the noise the Kommo-o was making.

Waiting a few minutes after Khakkhara had led the Brute Bonnets away, he would make his way down to the tree. "I'll climb up and get him, keep an eye out. I have no doubt Khakkhara will make for a good decoy, but we don't want to test how long he can keep their attention," he said and started the climb up the tree before the older male could say anything.

Looking at the map made him want to fix every little problem. However, now wasn't the time to nitpick at every little thing. He would worry about it once he got out of the Chasm, when one wrong move wouldn't mean him meeting his end. Which he felt might happen if they stayed in one place for too long.

As the other male told him to lead the way, he nodded, ignoring the nickname. To be honest, outside of his regularly used nicknames, he wasn't sure how to react to a nickname. His siblings had always found that extremely funny for some reason.

The Scream Tails were starting to thin out due to their attacks. The battle was too intense for him to start feeling relief. Especially after the Sandy Shocks joined the fray. As the Zap Cannon was fired at him and his companion, he stiffened though wasn't worried, at least not for himself. He knew neither Aurora nor Selene would let anything happen to him and that's what worried him.

Just as he thought, Selene threw herself between the attack and her trainer, the attack instantly knocking her out. Sighing, he returned Selene to her Pokéball and released Crystal, his Glaceon, from his Pokéball. Hopefully, her ice attacks would come in handy.

"Do you think you can keep the Scream Tails occupied for a bit?" he inquired.

He was going for the Sandy Shocks. Leaving them to keep firing off Zap Cannons would be more of a hassle than it was worth.

Not waiting long for a response, he directed Aurora and Crystal to focus on the Sandy Shocks.

Crystal seemed to eye the weird-looking Pokémon before firing off an Ice Beam at one.
