Sometimes fighting in close quarters can lead to a disadvantage,” he told her a bit to caught up in what they were talking about to realize he had mentioned being a knight. Not that he was trying to keep it some big secret. It just wasn’t something he causally brought up.

The only reason it had come up with Elise Calcifet was because of her status. Finding out she was royalty had caught him off guard. However if someone were to ask him on how he had acquired his skills he wouldn’t lie. He would tell them just how he had acquired his skills since he hated lying.

He listened as she shared her story. And apparently she wasn’t the only one with such a weapon. ”That must’ve been an interesting experience. And any experience where you gain something out of it is a good one,” he commented. Even if when one talked about gaining something from an experience they usually meant a lesson.

The young man watched as she fired an arrow before attempting to do so himself, falling a bit short but still getting close. ”I’ve always been a quick study when it comes to weapons and you’re a good teacher. After the pokeball stopped moving he picked it up and stored it away. The other Pokémon had fled at some point while he had been distracted by the Frigibax. Not that it really mattered to him. He was just relieved it decided to go away then to attack.

With the Frigibax now his they could continue on. While they did he kept an eye on their surroundings. Which is while he noticed a cloyster move past before it moved to far for him to see it anymore. He actually wasn’t to sure if they cloyster had noticed their presence or not.

A Magnemite sure did though and upon seeing them quickly fled probably not wanting to face them by itself. He’d already caught a Magnemite and he didn’t really want a cloyster so neither Pokémon engaging them bothered him. He knew his Pokémon didn’t really care either.

They hadn’t been walking long when the an Frigibax and Klefki appeared. Neither attacked the Frigibax seeming more interested in trying to get Aurora, who had moved a bit ahead, to play than attacking them. Aurora just eyed the little ice dragon curiously but otherwise didn’t give in to the little ice dragons attempts to get her to play.

The little ice dragon was pretty determined though. After regarding the scene for a few minutes he approached slowly in case the Frigibax suddenly turned violet. He knew dragon types could be unpredictable. But the little ice dragon just eyed him curiously when he approached.

”Hey little guy, you seem interested in Aurora here. If you join us I’m sure she’ll play around with you anytime you want,” he said. That seemed to catch the little ice dragons attention and when he held the pokeball towards it the Frigibax pushed the button getting sucked inside the pokeball.

The young male frowned at how little affect the combined attack of him and maverick noah ryder had on the strange looking Pokémon. The bowl Pokémon seemed to be more durable than he had anticipated. Though he supposed that was what one would get of a Pokémon that was powerful enough to go toe to toe with a legendary like Zacian.

He wanted to help the sword wielding legendary but none of the attacks him and the others were doing seemed to be making a difference. ”The Pokémon is proving to be stronger than we anticipated,” he said keeping his eyes fixed on the unknown Pokémon.

Due to this he was able to see the odd Pokémon’s attack coming and was able to prevent harm from befalling him or Selene. He sighed before his gaze flickered towards where the scarred man was. ”You okay?” he inquired of maverick noah ryder, despite the fact that he didn’t know the older male he still showed concern for his well being.

A sound drew his attention back towards the Pokémon and his eyes widened with shock as he noticed Zacian’s sword shatter. Before he could recover from his shock the sword pulsed and him and Selene were sucked into the sword

He came to to Selene nudging his face with her head. He groaned pulsing himself up into a sitting position. He blinked as he took in his surroundings and looked around. It was some kind of stadium and a nagging voice in the back of his mind told him he should recognize it from a travelers guide he had once read but he couldn’t place why it was familiar.

The knight was still a bit out of it from getting sucked into the sword. Eventually though his mind cleared and the first thing he noticed was the lack of either Pokémon. Nor did he see the guy he had been fighting beside before. Hopefully the scarred man was okay.

Finally getting to his feet he looked around. Okay his first priority should be to make sure him and Selene were okay. Both were okay perhaps a little bruised from landing here but nothing that would hamper either of them. A voice over his comms alerts him to other members of the league. So this was Wyndon Stadium, now he realized why it seemed familiar.

”Mikael reporting in, suffered no injuries, I hope everyone is doing well as well, he said into his comms deciding to get straight to the point. No point in beating around the bush. Especially in a situation like his.

”Selene be ready to be on the attack if the need arises. We can’t be sure what kind of dangers we’ll come across,” he told his umbreon companion.

The umbreon in response simply fell in beside him. The implication clear that she would keep her and her trainer safe from harm.

He listened to the what she said not bothering to hide his distaste when guns were mentioned. It was abundantly clear that he wasn’t a fan. ”I prefer a sword. Though I need something that can be a long range weapon. Throwing knives are really best when it comes to midrange that’s not to say you couldn’t throw a knife at someone in close range though. I figured a bow what make a good long range weapon so I decided to learn that,” he explained with a small shrug.

It was the best reason he had for wanting to use a bow. Liking to be prepared for all outcomes he’d decided he needed to be able to use some kind of long range weapon. He watched her shoot raising a brow when she mentioned the story behind the weapon as being hard to belief. There was very little he found hard to believe.

”I’m sure everyone has some kind of story that’s hard to believe,” he said looking thoughtful before speaking once more. ”No I don’t believe you mentioned being an explorer. What did you find some treasure chest guarded by some big bad dragon Pokémon?” he asked teasingly.

He wished his brothers had taken a card out of her book. And had been wary of rapidash at first. ”Yeah wasn’t expecting my brothers to try and copy me. I guess with me having helped take care of them for so long they saw me as some kind of role model,” he said with a small rueful smile.

Eventually she started given him pointers. When he heard that he was a bit ahead of where she needed him he nodded remaining in the stance before retrieving and nocking it. He took in an account he way his hair moved to figure out which direction the wind was blowing before exhaling and letting the arrow fly towards the target.

He nodded in agreement. If only that had already been accomplished. If only he had been able to accomplish that when it came to his siblings and those he was duty bound to protect. Perhaps he could help stop what he had gone through from happening again. Safe others from experiencing the same darkness he had.

With the way the world was now that seemed unlikely. But helping out anyway he could was a start. Sometimes all one could do was start small. He was sure it would help out in the long run. At least he thought it would.

But he would never reveal the pain deep inside. It churned beneath the surface but he was good at hiding it. It was a hard pill to swallow but he was right. Human nature made people cruel. It made them selfish. Everyone wanting what they couldn’t have. Well okay maybe not everyone, but most people. Some people were just better at controlling those impulses in other people.

”Makes it hard to want to leave this world to the next generation,” he said with a shake of his head. Seriously what would they have to give them? A world that was messed up. A world that sometimes seemed to be bordering on extinction? This wasn’t the kind of world he wanted to pass on, but it was the world they lived in and he didn’t see that changing anytime soon.

If it was as simple as talking it out he wouldn’t have lost everything. Why were people so quick to attack each other? He doubted he would ever find the answer.

A delibird rushing over to the group turned his attention away from his thoughts. The delibird seemed pretty friendly for a wild Pokémon. He took in the exchange between them watching as the delibird chose to join his team. ”Pretty friendly delibird,” he commented before they continued on.

When a probopass and beartic appeared Selene was immediately at his side while Aurora hung back a bit ready to help if needed. The probopass seemed to have his his guard up so Mikael told Selene to go for the Probopass.

Having her orders Selene immediately used bite which caused the probopass to flinch. Not wasting the opportunity Selene immediately used dark pulse. Recovering the probopass used zap cannon which Selene copied thanks to copycat. The probopass used wide guard but umbreon was still able to use bite against it causing it to flinch again.

Selene immediately used assurance but before Selene could go for another attack he called her back to his side and threw a pokeball at probopass. The probopass seemed worn out from the battle so he hoped the catch would be good. ”You did a good job Selene,” he complimented the umbreon. [break] Thomas Benoit

The knight turned officer had his orders. The thought of destroying any Pokémon no matter what they did to warrant such an order made him cringe. However he had to follow the line of command. And if they told him to destroy the ruin Pokémon if he had to or got the chance he would do so. ”Copy that, I’ll do whatever it takes to aid Zacian,” he said into his earpiece.

His umbreon stood beside him. Ready to receive any order that she was given. Instead of just recklessly charging in he held back to take in everything that was going on. Seeing that they Pokémon seemed distracted with one another he started to move towards the other Pokémon. Adrenaline made his heard race and he was sure he could hear the blood roaring in his ears. He hadn’t been this keyed up since he had been unable to protect those he cared for. He took a deep breath to steady himself curling his hands into fist to stop their trembling.

Once he was close enough but not to close he watched the Pokémon awaiting his chance. His gaze caught sight of another guy attacking Ting-Lu in order to help Zacian. Or at least that was what he figured. He had to focus on his own actions not the actions of others though. Seeing an opening he took his chance. ”Selene use Dark Pulse,” he ordered quietly.

Selene having her orders readied up a dark pulse and sent it towards Ting-Lu. Him and his Pokémon would give it their all to protect Zacian even if it meant doing something that didn’t necessarily agree with. Hopefully it wouldn’t come to that though.

To his relief the other male hadn’t noticed his earlier apprehension. He would have to be more careful. Didn’t want to explain why he was having a panic attack. As long as he reminded himself it was just in the Pokémon’s nature and he didn’t mean anything by it he would be fine.

”Some people are so quick to judge others, but I try not to do that. I at least try to look at things from both points of view.” That wasn’t always easy though. He couldn’t just do that with the people that took everything from him. He didn’t think he would ever want to hear why they did what they did. ”Yeah that would be a problem, but I would just try to explain things if that day ever comes.”

When a Magnemite and Arctozolt showed up he made quick work in catching the Magnemite while Thomas’s Ceruledge kept the Arctozolt busy. He succeeded in catching the Magnemite and put it away. When he was sure the older male was ready they continued on. His two Pokémon companions trailing after him and staying alert for more wild Pokémon.[break] Thomas Benoit

Listening to what she had to say he nodded and turned it to a slight angle. It felt a bit awkward holding it this way, but he supposed he would get use it. After all if it was safer to use it this way then it was probably best to do it this way. Through he would still wear the wrist guards as a precaution.

”I don’t think I’ll ever be as skilled with a bow as I am a sword, but I still want to learn. Sometimes it’s best not to get so up close to an enemy and it’s better than a gun,” he told her as he practiced pulling back on the drawstring. He didn’t have an arrow notched yet since he wanted to make sure how got use to pulling back on the drawstring before he tried shooting.

”Where did you even find it?” he asked curiously eying the bow. ”I’ve never seen a bow like that one before,” he admitted his gaze still curious but at this point he was no longer looking at the bow but at Shalin awaiting her response. It looked like a neat bow probably more effective than just a regular bow.

When she agreed to teach him what little she knew he was relieved. ”Thanks, they’ve been with me since before I came to Hoenn. They’re not apart of my original team though. Certain circumstances led to me having to give my original party of Pokémon to new homes. I got Aurora and Selene when I was sixteen when they were both still an eevee,” he explained looking down at the two Pokémon fondly.

When she mentioned a friend he watched as she sent out a shiny espeon that was the size of a small horse. He watched as his Pokémon greeted the other espeon before turning his attention back to Shalin. Yeah they made since. Probably had different body shapes than the Pokémon they were use to putting saddles on.

”Well it’s good that it’s better when you get airborne,” he told her. Not even sure why he did he told her about one of his own exploits. ”Thanks it was a part of my training. Though I stopped when my brothers started copying me. Didn’t want them getting hurt,” he explained.

Moving over to where she indicated he listened intently to what she had to say.
