”I was fine until I let the drawstring go wasn’t expecting it to smack me in the wrist. I wanted to get a feel for the weapon,” he explained. Now he knew wrist guards would protect against that. It had only stung for a bit though, though he was sure it would probably leave a mark.

Listening to what she had to say he nodded. ”True. I practice sword drills and knife throwing on my own but that’s because I’m a master in both. I started out training with others though didn’t exactly teach myself. I might spar from time to time with a sword,” he commented before speaking once more. ”Are you a master of any weapon?” he inquired.

As she spoke of having limited experience he nodded. Well that was better than him. He had none. ”That would be great,” he said once she had agreed to teach him what little she knew. He eyed the bow curiously. He had a regular bow that was provided at the training facility not having one of his own.

Hearing her introduction he couldn’t help but be amused. ”Pleasure to meet you Shalin,” he said blinking at the two new pokemon. He had never seen Pokémon of their breed like this. He waved back at the Beedrill before listening to Shalin introduce her Pokémon.

While she was doing that his own Pokémon had moved forward. Feeling them come up he absently petting them before speaking once it seemed Shalin was done talking. ”This is Aurora and Selene,” he told her gesturing first to the espeon than to the umbreon.

”You okay, never ridden a bug pokemon myself. I’ve only ridden a rapidash when I was first learning I would jump off when the Pokémon was still moving. I thought I could jump on someone as I was riding past was practicing in case I ran into bad guys,” he said with a shake of his head. He had stopped doing that when his brothers started trying to copy him.[break] Shalin Nariya

Seeing the two Pokémon his Pokémon got ready in case Thomas needed a helping hand. Surprisingly the Escavalier wasn’t engaging. Both of his Pokémon were ready to jump in if needed though. He supposed it just be intimidated by Aurora and Selene even if he was the only one that knew that they wouldn’t gang up on a Pokémon themselves.

Luckily Thomas was able to capture the Magneton without fail and seeing it was no more outnumbered the Escavalier fled. Once it was clear the Pokémon was truly gone Aurora and Selene returned to his side. ”I guess Escavalier thought my Pokémon was going to gang up on them. They wouldn’t ever do anything like that though,” he told the other male.

Once his companion had received his captured Magneton he began to move forwards again. This time he kept even a fiercer eye out for wild Pokémon to catch. Though he wasn’t against going in the opposite direction of some wild Pokémon if neither of them were planning on catching the Pokémon in question.

Both of his Pokémon were also staying alert. Neither wanting the first encounter to repeat itself. He would make sure not to allow it to happen either. He didn’t know what he would do if something happened to either of them.[break] Thomas Benoit

”Yes I wasn’t expecting the Pokémon here to be so fierce,” he told the other male calling Aurora to him. ”You okay girl,” he asked looking at her with concern. To reassure her owner she was fine she nudged his hand with her head. He patted her head before picking up the ball holding his new Pokémon before putting it away.

He then turned his attention to his partner. ”Ready to move on?” he asked gesturing towards the way forward. Once he had gotten some form of agreement he began to walk forwards. Aurora and Selene immediately fell into step behind him.

As he walked he took in the scenery around him. There was something almost eerie about the place. At least to him there was. Perhaps it was the silence of the place. Unless there was a Pokémon coming at them things were pretty quiet not counting the sound of their footsteps.

Though he was taking in the scenery he was also keeping an eye out for Pokémon. He hoped they wouldn’t just appear out of nowhere again. He hadn’t expected to be set upon so soon. They were just lucky that Aurora and Selene had noticed their presence when they did.[break] Thomas Benoit

The other male seemed like a punctual person as well. Even going so far to arrive early than planned like he did. ”Seems like we think a like, we both arrived before the appointed meeting time,” he said with a small chuckle making sure his bag was properly closed. He didn’t want to be losing anything after all.

Hearing his question he inclined his head in agreement of what he said. ”That’s correct, it’s a pleasure to meet you Thomas,” he said as he shook the others hand. He was about to say something else when his Pokémon both let out a sound of warning.

Surprised he turned to see a Glaceon and a Sealeo heading towards them. His eyes darted between the two before he ordered his espeon to attack with umbreon standing on standby just in case something happened.

His espeon attacked with confusion first and the Glaceon used baby doll eyes on Aurora while the Sealeo used ice ball against her. Aurora didn’t allow the attacks to get her down though and attacked the Glaceon with psybeam. The Sealeo tried to attack with roll out which it managed to dodge before using morning sun.

While Aurora did that he threw a pokeball towards the Glaceon seeing that it was starting to get worn out. ”Nice work Aurora,” he congratulated the espeon as the Glaceon went into the pokeball. Now that would just have to see if the catch was successful.

Today he had decided to take a little break. Usually he would be patrolling but he had decided that perhaps some time spend catching Pokémon with his partners was needed. He knew they would enjoy the chance of taking on other Pokémon. It was something he hadn’t done in awhile.

It wouldn’t just be him and his Pokémon this time though. He had found someone looking for a partner in catching Pokémon. Deciding he could be of help he had gotten together with the other person to talk over details. Apparently the guy was seeking out a steel type and since he wasn’t overly picky about what Pokémon he got it was decided that they would try catching Pokémon in the silent icelands.

Reaching the meeting spot he looked around. He was the first person there and looking at his watch he realized he was a bit earlier than the intended meeting time. It was starting to become a habit. But it wasn’t like it was a bad habit. Better early than late after all.

Along with his two Pokémon companions the young man made his way to meteor falls. One would wonder why come to this place? And the answer would be a simple one. For training. Or more precisely for a spar. Having been feeling bouts of nostalgia lately he had put out a notice that he was looking for a sparring partner that could proficiently wield a blade. To his surprise his notice had been answered immediately and they had talked through email about the sparring match to set all of this.

He had wanted it somewhere where someone just couldn’t walk in on them. Because he didn’t want to risk someone getting hurt just because they had come across them. Though he doubted it would get that heated. After all it was only suppose to be a friendly spar. But it was still better to be safe than sorry.

After some discussion they decided to do it at meteor falls. One would think they would go to the sword school and see if they could train there but he hadn’t wanted to disturb the students who were actually learning. He just hoped his sparring partner didn’t think he was just being difficult. He had just been making valid points after all.

Reaching a good enough spot in the cave he motioned for his Pokémon to lay down. Keeping his sword strapped across his lower back he then waited for his partner. Having left his house pretty early he had gotten here earlier than scheduled but he didn’t mind waiting. While he waited he decided to do a bit of a warm up to make sure his muscles were loose. Hearing someone speak he turned towards the person. He was faced with a young green-haired woman perhaps a few years younger than himself in one of those sygna suits. ”Yes I am this isn’t the worse I’ve been hurt, but thank you for the concern,” he told the young woman noticing the arrows she had brought with her.

”You’re my training partner I presume. When I planned on getting training in here I was told I would have a partner. Something about two people being able to learn better if they could learn off each other,” he commented brushing a few strands of hair from his bangs out of his eyes.

Seeing the arrows made him think he was right and made him wonder if she already had a bit of training when it came to archery. ”Do you already have some training. Because I don’t. I’m a master with a sword and throwing knives but I don’t know much about other weapons,” he asked letting his gaze drift to her Flygon for a few seconds before drifting back to the woman. Having taken in the Pokémon’s gear he could only assume she was going to shoot mounted. Something he didn’t think he would be able to do at least not yet.

Thoughts tumbled through his mind of his friends and family laying dead in front of him. The feeling that he had failed them. Pushing away those thoughts he gave the woman in front of him a sympathetic smile. Losing someone you considered a friend or family was never easy, especially if you had to see them die.

”I’m sorry losing people is never easy, it’s sad that in this day and age one has to go through something like that,” he commented, a rueful smile gracing his lips. Wanting to comfort her he let slip he knew what it was like to lose people. Though he wasn’t sure he would be able to open up about it, it still weighed heavily on his heart.

After introducing themselves he discovered the woman he was talking to was nobility. So caught off guard he didn’t bother hiding his mortification. The woman’s words were enough for him to regain his composure. He could understand where she was coming from but he would never be able to do that.

Even though he hadn’t grown up a knight and had only become one at sixteen due to protecting the Princess the ways of a knight were still ingrained in him. To the point he struggled with keeping his way of speech loose instead of formal. So he wouldn’t be treating her causally even if she said it was okay.

Post Seeing the others disbelief since it wasn’t like he was trying to hide it he decided to explain. ”I’m an officer and perhaps spends a little to much time on my duties. I haven’t had much leisure time, so I’m not always aware of what places have to offer,” he explained with a what can you do gesture. Growing up the way he did being all work and no play was inbred in him.

”I woke up earlier than intended though so I decided to go somewhere to train instead of my usual place,” he commented keeping his attention focused on him even as he continued to stroke his Pokémon. His two Pokémon companions were content just to stay by their owner as he talked to the older sword master.

The conversation soon moved to the fact he didn’t come from Hoenn and he spoke of his travels. As the older male got up he watched him curiously and watched as he drew to swords. The concept of using two blades was new to him and he wondered if the green haired man was going to ask him for a sparring match.

Before he could think too much on it the older man turned his blades against a tree. He watched as the older male with quick precision cut the branch off one of the trees without really disturbing the vegetation around the tree. His speed wasn’t bad when it came to using a blade but that was something else.

”Thanks I wouldn’t mind having your speed when it comes to sword fighting. I’m more nimble when it comes to hand to hand though,” he explained debating rather or not to show off his other skills before coming to a decision. Well he had been thinking of doing so target practice.

He hoped the older male wouldn’t think he was showing off though. ”I don’t just know the art of a sword or hand to hand though,” he commented pulling out one of his throwing knives. Spying a tree with a broken branch about to come off he decided to aim for that branch.

With a simple flick of his wrist he gave the knife a bit of a spin as it impaled the part of the branch that was about to come off causing the branch to finish breaking off but leaving the knife impaled in the knot where the branch had once been. ”Not really adept in any other weapon though,” he said as he grabbed the knife putting it back with the others.

He was about to go through another set of drills when he noticed his Pokémon raise their heads causing him to lower his sword so the tip rested on the ground. The young man was about to ask his Pokémon what was wrong when he heard someone speak from behind him. Mentally reprimanding himself for not being aware he turned towards the person.

The other person was a man around his own age with green hair. He quickly took in the swords he had on him before taking in other things about him. Since his Pokémon hadn’t reacted negatively he didn’t think of this guy as a threat. So that was good.

”I am just making sure to keep my skills sharp,” he explained sheathing his blade, before the part about the school registered in his mind. ”I’m afraid that I was unaware of a sword school here,” he told the other male giving him an apologetic smile.

While talking his Pokémon had come over and settled by his heels probably figuring he was done with his training for the time being. ”I’ve alway been curious about different styles though, I noticed that my style is pretty different from other people I met on my travels, it’s hard to stray from what you know though,” he explained absently stroking his Pokémon.[break] Finnegan Yang
