Hearing someone speak he turned towards the person. He was faced with a young green-haired woman perhaps a few years younger than himself in one of those sygna suits. ”Yes I am this isn’t the worse I’ve been hurt, but thank you for the concern,” he told the young woman noticing the arrows she had brought with her.

”You’re my training partner I presume. When I planned on getting training in here I was told I would have a partner. Something about two people being able to learn better if they could learn off each other,” he commented brushing a few strands of hair from his bangs out of his eyes.

Seeing the arrows made him think he was right and made him wonder if she already had a bit of training when it came to archery. ”Do you already have some training. Because I don’t. I’m a master with a sword and throwing knives but I don’t know much about other weapons,” he asked letting his gaze drift to her Flygon for a few seconds before drifting back to the woman. Having taken in the Pokémon’s gear he could only assume she was going to shoot mounted. Something he didn’t think he would be able to do at least not yet.

Thoughts tumbled through his mind of his friends and family laying dead in front of him. The feeling that he had failed them. Pushing away those thoughts he gave the woman in front of him a sympathetic smile. Losing someone you considered a friend or family was never easy, especially if you had to see them die.

”I’m sorry losing people is never easy, it’s sad that in this day and age one has to go through something like that,” he commented, a rueful smile gracing his lips. Wanting to comfort her he let slip he knew what it was like to lose people. Though he wasn’t sure he would be able to open up about it, it still weighed heavily on his heart.

After introducing themselves he discovered the woman he was talking to was nobility. So caught off guard he didn’t bother hiding his mortification. The woman’s words were enough for him to regain his composure. He could understand where she was coming from but he would never be able to do that.

Even though he hadn’t grown up a knight and had only become one at sixteen due to protecting the Princess the ways of a knight were still ingrained in him. To the point he struggled with keeping his way of speech loose instead of formal. So he wouldn’t be treating her causally even if she said it was okay.

”That may be so Lady Elise but I wouldn’t be comfortable doing so. So if it’s okay with you I will still address you as I am now,” he told her. He wanted to show her the respect she deserved but if she requested otherwise than he would try to do as she asked.[break] Elise Calcifet

Post Seeing the others disbelief since it wasn’t like he was trying to hide it he decided to explain. ”I’m an officer and perhaps spends a little to much time on my duties. I haven’t had much leisure time, so I’m not always aware of what places have to offer,” he explained with a what can you do gesture. Growing up the way he did being all work and no play was inbred in him.

”I woke up earlier than intended though so I decided to go somewhere to train instead of my usual place,” he commented keeping his attention focused on him even as he continued to stroke his Pokémon. His two Pokémon companions were content just to stay by their owner as he talked to the older sword master.

The conversation soon moved to the fact he didn’t come from Hoenn and he spoke of his travels. As the older male got up he watched him curiously and watched as he drew to swords. The concept of using two blades was new to him and he wondered if the green haired man was going to ask him for a sparring match.

Before he could think too much on it the older man turned his blades against a tree. He watched as the older male with quick precision cut the branch off one of the trees without really disturbing the vegetation around the tree. His speed wasn’t bad when it came to using a blade but that was something else.

”Thanks I wouldn’t mind having your speed when it comes to sword fighting. I’m more nimble when it comes to hand to hand though,” he explained debating rather or not to show off his other skills before coming to a decision. Well he had been thinking of doing so target practice.

He hoped the older male wouldn’t think he was showing off though. ”I don’t just know the art of a sword or hand to hand though,” he commented pulling out one of his throwing knives. Spying a tree with a broken branch about to come off he decided to aim for that branch.

With a simple flick of his wrist he gave the knife a bit of a spin as it impaled the part of the branch that was about to come off causing the branch to finish breaking off but leaving the knife impaled in the knot where the branch had once been. ”Not really adept in any other weapon though,” he said as he grabbed the knife putting it back with the others.

”Pleasure to meet you Finnegan, my name’s Mikael. And these are my companions Aurora and Selene,” he commented gesturing first to his espeon than to his umbreon when he introduced them.[break] Finnegan Yang

He was about to go through another set of drills when he noticed his Pokémon raise their heads causing him to lower his sword so the tip rested on the ground. The young man was about to ask his Pokémon what was wrong when he heard someone speak from behind him. Mentally reprimanding himself for not being aware he turned towards the person.

The other person was a man around his own age with green hair. He quickly took in the swords he had on him before taking in other things about him. Since his Pokémon hadn’t reacted negatively he didn’t think of this guy as a threat. So that was good.

”I am just making sure to keep my skills sharp,” he explained sheathing his blade, before the part about the school registered in his mind. ”I’m afraid that I was unaware of a sword school here,” he told the other male giving him an apologetic smile.

While talking his Pokémon had come over and settled by his heels probably figuring he was done with his training for the time being. ”I’ve alway been curious about different styles though, I noticed that my style is pretty different from other people I met on my travels, it’s hard to stray from what you know though,” he explained absently stroking his Pokémon.[break] Finnegan Yang

He awoke with a gasp his remains of the nightmare lingering in the back of his mind. Looking at the clock he noticed it was still pretty early but knew from experience that he wouldn’t be going back to sleep. Letting out a sigh he made his way to the bathroom to get ready for the day. Unsurprisingly when he returned from getting ready his Pokémon were up and making noises of concern. ”Aurora, Selene, I’m fine,” he murmured to his espeon and umbreon pausing to stroke the top of their heads.

He could tell from the noises they made that they didn’t believe him so he gave them awhile. ”I’ll be fine I’ll take a walk to get my mind off of things. And perhaps I’ll even get some training done,” he said standing from where he had been kneeling to pet his two companions. As he moved over to the counter his Pokémon followed him but he was used to it so he remained focused on the task at hand.

While he waited he attached his swords sheath to his hip and attached the pouch with his throwing knives to his other hip. Perhaps he would also get some target practice in though he wouldn’t be to broken up if he didn’t. He would be fine as long as he went through some sword drills.

Soon enough the coffee was ready and he put it in a thermos before heading out with his two companions in tow. As usual they were well behaved and followed at his heels as he walked. Living in Mauville he thought a change of scenery would help so he decided to make his way to Fortree or at least one of the routes around Fortree since he didn’t want to risk anyone getting hurt if they accidentally stumbled across him.

By the time he got to his destination he had already finished his coffee and put the thermos to the side while he warmed up. Once he had done so he started going through sword drills. Thrust! Side cut! Backhand side! Overhand! Backhanded side cut! He would go through the sequence before switching it around from time. And despite practicing he made sure to keep an eye on his surroundings not wanting to injure a wild Pokémon that happened to come by or a person. [break] Finnegan Yang

Mikael while good at using a sword and had a talent of throwing knives with a scary precision had never really trained with a bow. The closest he had come to one was a practice one someone had thrown away that him and his brothers had played around with before it had been inevitably broken. So when he had learned of a chance to better his archery skills he had immediately jumped at the chance. He supposed a trainer would be stationed around to help out with the training.

He had learned that due to circumstances his training had been booked with someone else’s. That didn’t really faze him though. He hoped the other person would be friendly and would be willing to train alongside him. He knew so people preferred training along. And in most cases he did as well. As long as it was a skill he was adept at.

Reaching the training center he walked inside his parter Pokémon at his heels. Aurora, his espeon, and Selene, his umbreon, were always with him though considering he never left home without them. They were the his constant companions and leaving his home without either of them always made him feel weird so both of them were always wherever he was.

The fact he was the first to arrive didn’t surprise him. Being restless he had found himself heading this way before he intended to. Oh well he would just start getting set up. He was sure the other person he was to be training with would arrive soon. So while he waited he started to set up getting a feel of the weapon he would be practicing with as he waited.

The first time he tried it the string whacked his wrist making him wince. And he realized some wrist guards would go a long way in preventing that from happening. Rubbing his wrist he strapped the wrist guards to his wrist before resuming getting a feel of the weapon.[break] Shalin Nariya

To his relief the woman didn’t seem to mind. Then again he didn’t think either of his Pokémon would approach someone if they were dangerous. While he was sure his Pokémon wanted him to form bonds with people both of them were pretty smart and would only someone if they were a good person.

When she mentioned the incident he had to resist the urge to wince. He felt like he had failed again being unable to prevent what happened. However he only allowed his sympathy to show through. ”That must have been horrible it’s good that you were able to get free. You’re doing well now though right?” he inquired, worried that she might not have had enough time to recover depending on what had happened while she was held captive.

”It’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Elise. My name’s Mikael and you’ve already met Aurora and this is Selene,” he commented, gesturing first to his espeon than his umbreon. ”And I actually live in Mauville,” he explained remembering that she had inquired on his reason for being here. He was about to say something else probably about riding Pokémon when he heard someone coming towards them.

On instinct his hand went towards where he would usually have his sword to only belatedly realize he didn’t have it on him, leaving him to grasp at empty air. Realizing it wasn’t a threat he relaxed before what the people were saying registered making his eyes dart from the people to the woman who he had been talking to.

He was mortified to realize he had talked so causally to royalty it didn’t matter that he hadn’t know. ”Apologies Lady Elise, as a former knight it is unbecoming of me to speak so causally to you. I might not be one of your citizens but I should still treat you with the respect a member from a royal family deserves.” Due to the fact he wasn’t one of her citizens he would refrain from calling her her highness but would still show reverence to her by calling her lady.[break] Elise Calcifet

A sigh escaped him as his lowered his sword putting it back in his sheath on his wall. He had been going through his sword drills since the early hours of the morning, after being woken due to another nightmare. As a distraction he had decided to practice his sword drills not wanting to become rusty when it came to using a sword.

He was about to set up for a bit of target practice when he happened to look at the clock on the wall and noticed the time. Letting out a sigh he decided that target practice would have to wait. Though he knew it wasn’t strictly necessary he wanted to patrol the city, he at least tried to do it once a day. But first he should get cleaned up.

After getting freshened up and getting changed for the day he started brewing some coffee. While he waited for the coffee to finish brewing he pulled his hair back into its usual ponytail. It taken long for his coffee to brew and he poured it into a thermos before calling to his Pokémon so they could head out.

With his Pokémon in tow he left his home and started making his way around the city. As he walked he made sure to keep an eye on every little thing never knowing when someone might try something. His espeon and umbreon stayed at his heels the whole time also seeming to be observing their surroundings probably picking up on how tense Mikael was. But it was hard for him to let down his guard, especially with the way things were nowadays.

He still couldn’t get the attack on the gym out of his mind. Considering he was training to be an officer he had gotten the details of what had happened, it helped that he currently called Mauville home and that he would need to be on guard for future attacks.

The attack had come out of nowhere and he hadn’t been able to keep everyone safe. He just didn’t understand it. Why people would choose to endanger other people. Now because of them two people would never grow old. Their life’s were over just because of one lowlife.

Sensing his distress his companions nosed his hand. Smiling he peered down at his two pokemon. ”Don’t worry I’ve fine, Aurora, Selene,” he reassured his pokemon. Aurora, his espeon, brushed her head against his hand once more before moving back beside Selene, his umbreon.

Hearing footsteps he looked up realizing he was walking along the same path as someone else. The person was a woman he had seen hanging around the gym on certain days. He believed she worked there but he wasn’t sure yet since the closest he had come to the gym was walking past it.

He politely inclined his head and was about to head over when his espeon suddenly left his side and went over to the woman and her Pokémon. ”Aurora, Aurora, get back here,” he called to her and when she looks back at him he swears she’s giving him an unimpressed look.

Resisting the urge to groan he headed over Selene following him as he gives the woman an apologetic smile. ”I’m so sorry, I have no idea what has gotten into her,” he commented, though he had his suspicions. Probably his Pokémon thinking some conversation would cheer him up and get his mind away from dark thoughts.
