Nabi procured a pokeball from her waistline just as the corviknight came onto the scene. The steel-black bird was an intimidating size compared to the feeble wingull, and immediately, its presence let the others know they were in for trouble. The flock of wingull squawked loudly, completely out of unison.[break][break]

From her pokeball, Nabi called forth her beautifly, Prince. The elegant bug stretched his wings and eyed the chaos of the situation. Wingull every which way, each one pocketing its own food source at its beak.[break][break]

"Ok, let's try some good ol' fashion teamwork," Nabi said to both her pokemon and ever blackwell, though she wasn't sure if he could hear her from up above. "Prince, use a WHIRLWIND to offset those birds!"[break][break]

The beautifly listened with obedience and flapped its tiny wings to produce a maddening WHIRLWIND. All around, wingull were thrown off guard from their flight trajectory. Little did Nabi realize that perhaps using a WHIRLWIND while ever blackwell and his corviknight were in the air wasn't the smartest idea...

"Huh? What?" Nabi exclaimed, suddenly thrown into confusion by Shalin's statement. She barely had time to cover her ears when the venusaur's green tendrils began to snap about with crazy energy. The pink-haired girl was completely caught off guard but reacted quickly. She created distance between her and the venusaur, in fear that she would be caught in the vine whip's path.[break][break]

The scene that unfolded before her was not unlike what she had seen earlier. Shalin was truly in her natural element, riding the vine of her venusaur without trouble. Meanwhile, Nabi had kneeled down after nearly tipping over from the shockwave. Her beautifly and the swablu on her head were also attempting to shield themselves from the force of the air.[break][break]

As things began to die down, Nabi, questioned the incredibly power of the sygna suit. If she got her hands on one of those someday, could Prince carry her across the region with ease? It was funny to think about such an image. This swablu, on the other hand, for whatever reasong claiming home at the top of her head, was seeming more and more attractive as a flight buddy.[break][break]

"Holy shit," Nabi muttered under her breath. She hadn't been the one on the end of the venusaur's vine whip, and yet, she could still feel her own heart pumping from the adrenaline.[break][break]

She rose to her feet, knees a little wobbly. "I don't know how you do it," she said. "Also, you might want to, uh, fix your hair."

Nabi's eyes followed Yumi as she traveled from her desk to her side. She couldn't explain why, but for some reason, she didn't feel as if she had to be so cautious around Yumi. Was it because of their shared experiences? Strangely, Yumi herself was warm and inviting, all the while standing firm and powerful. It put Nabi both at ease and on guard.[break][break]

She reluctantly accepted the tissue box to wipe at the blood on her face. It wasn't much, but seeing the traces of red on the contrasting white napkin made her feel a little more alive, a reminder that she was still human.[break][break]

"You want me to work for you?" she repeated, taken aback. She crumpled the tissue in her hand. The idea of a steady income was enticing, albeit unfamiliar to the young girl. She sucked in her bottom lip, thinking.[break][break]

What harm was there in taking a serious job offer? If she didn't like it, she could leave if she wanted to. And Yumi seemed to understand her. That was the most attractive part to Nabi. She liked what she saw in Yumi.[break][break]

"What exactly is this line of work?" she asked, hoping to Arceus it wasn't as some server girl in the casino

"Wouldn't you agree? The people that steal or break the law, they have far more interesting lives and backstories. Take you, for example." She looked him up and down.[break][break]

"You're a gym leader, you seem like a good guy. Good guys don't have flaws. I can't appreciate a person who's perfect and always has outstanding morals." She inhaled deeply and cocked her head to him. "So... are you going to prove to me you're not just some perfect goody-two-shoes? The kind that is always heroically on time to save a girl from starting a forest fire?"

The naive Nabi hadn't even thought of the possibility of hurting people in the crossfire. Even now, as she stood with two of her pokemon on either side of her, her mind was occupied with the best way of getting back at the goons. While Prince was mostly calm and collected, Bruno breathed heavy with the thirst of a predator, especially with other pokemon holding their defenses and intimidating scowls.[break][break]

The stalemate did not last for long. On the floor, the man Nabi had punched regained himself and rose to his feet. His houndoom came around his side with sharp teeth bared. They weren't going to go out with a fight.[break][break]

Nabi waited for them to make the first, distinct move. Once one of their pokemon attacked, she took the green light. "Prince, use STUN SPORE! Bruno, PROTECT Prince!"[break][break]

Immediately, her pokemon flew into action. Prince flew across the bank room, expelling a gold dust on the thieves, regardless if they were human or pokemon, in an attempt to paralyze them. Meanwhile, the swampert stepped in to shield the beautifly from any oncoming attacks, though he would have much preferred doing the dirty work.[break][break]

Nabi glanced over to her comrade-in-arms as several other pokemon made their way towards her and her pokemon. Those that were trapped in the midst of it all cowered in their spots.

"I chose to live life on my own terms."[break][break]

It was like she had been put through a trance, as if a spell had been casted onto the young girl. "She's just like me," she though to herself, her mind suddenly recalling memories of her parents fighting over her reckless behavior as a child, of how her grandparents and relatives brainwashed her into believing the path that they had laid out for her was her destiny. Somewhere along the way, Nabi found enough strength to leave it all behind, hoping to start fresh and claim her own destiny.[break][break]

Now, here she sat, finally free of the paralysis, eyeing a powerful woman that represented the ideals and life she so craved.[break][break]

"I..." Nabi stammered, truly at a loss for words. Had she always been this weak, so affected by emotions? These were more than just emotions for Nabi though.[break][break]

She forced herself to snap out of this... whatever it was. It made her chest ache, burn.[break][break]

Nabi snapped her body forward, slamming her head against the coffee table with a startling bang! The pain in her chest moved to her head which now bled a little. She inhaled better now.[break][break]

"I don't know what I'm doing," she admitted, her head still on the coffee table. "I came to Hoenn with no plans or possessions, barely scraping by with petty acts of thievery." She slowly raised herself, lines of blood streaking down either side of her nose. "All my family taught me was to be a servant. I guess I'm worthless if I don't have someone to order me around."
