Nabi's lips shaped themselves into a pout as she stood helplessly on the sidelines with nothing to do but watch the other girl take initiative of the entire situation. It was one thing for her to be delegated a separate task. It was another to ask her to stay out of it completely. That simply wasn't Nabi's style.[break][break]

Her eyes attempted to follow the zeraora's speedy movements. Every impulsive tick in Nabi's body edged her to move, give one of her pokemon a command. Like his trainer, Bruno was also greedily waiting for his turn to join in on the fun. The only one that remained unbothered by the lack of responsibility was Prince who now sat atop Bruno's head.[break][break]

But even if Nabi wanted to help more, there was little room for her to wedge herself in. The other girl already had a full-fledged team aiding against the goons, each clearly talented and skilled.[break][break]

And yet, they were still waiting on the authorities to pull in and finish the job. Unlike Nabi, the other girl was brimming with a sense of proper justice. Had it been just Nabi on her own, she would have served her own form of justice without a second thought.[break][break]

Regardless, things seemed to be looking up. The goons were trapped, completely surrounded and defenseless against the well-oiled team. Nabi could hear the sirens approach.[break][break]

Then, shadows blanketed the ground. From up above, a masked man and his fearow dove, beak glowing from an oncoming DRILL PECK. Acting on instinct, Nabi yelled out, "Prince, quick! Hit it with an AIR CUTTER, and use STRING SHOT on its wings!"[break][break]

Though not as fast as a zeraora, Prince immediately took to the sky to cut the fearow off with a series of sharp-cutting AIR SLASHES. The impact slowed the fearow's movements and caused both it and its trainer to flounder. In that moment, Prince covered the fearow's winged appendages in a sticky substance to prevent it from flapping and flying. Like an image from a cartoon show, the fearow and its trainer fell toward the concrete ground.[break][break]

Danger averted.

The pinkette nodded as Shalin shared her wisdom of Sygna Suits. As expected, money was a necessity, something she severely lacked. But the mention of expeditions perked her interest. She hadn't even considered the possibility of exploring now that she was on her own, not fulfilling her duties as a ninja.[break][break]

In the short time they had spent together, Nabi felt she understood Shalin well. At her core, she clearly cherished nature and her pokemon. That was something Nabi could respect.[break][break]

"You live an exciting life," the young trainer commented. "I left home so I could have that kind of life, too, I think." She cocked her head at her own words, wondering if that was really the reason she took off. Frankly, she was still figuring it out. Maybe that's why she found herself returning to a place she found familiar and comfortable.

his response was bland, though she realized that was to be expected of a man that had admitted to being boring. despite it's simplicity, it did make the cogs in nabi's head squeak. she liked the idea of honesty. she liked the appeal of living an honest life, one where a person didn't have to hide who they were, or lie or steal to get by.[break][break]

"are you a master at reading faces, too, gym leader?" she teased back, wanting to avoid answering him. "i simply have a hard time picturing you as a member of team rocket." what she had said was true. an image of cian in the cliche black and red garb popped into her thoughts, and just as quickly as it came, it was immediately tossed into the trash of forget-me-now.[break][break]

"you're too handsome." she thought about her words and shook her head. "i guess handsome guys can be evil still. you're too goofy-looking then." she nodded in agreement to herself now.

nabi flinched against the girl's thumb and jerked herself away. the gentle touch had been strangely more provocative to her than when the girl had yanked her by the shoulder. too intimate, perhaps.[break][break]

chatter from behind alerted nabi that eyes were drawing onto them. tourists loved a good scene. she decided to choose her next words carefully.[break][break]

"i'd become friends with you immediately," nabi blurted. "i could use a cop friend. they could get me out of sticky situations like this. and," she paused to adjust herself on minerva. "i can be useful in return. i'm great at... obtaining valuables." if one could consider a churro 'valuable.'

people or no people, rocks now barricaded them from moving forward. they were stuck and would have to face the consequences. minerva purred worringly. nabi stroked the side of her neck to reassure her.[break][break]

the hairs on her body stood from the touch on her shoulder. she now faced her victim—a lovely shade of dark, silky hair and dull, amber eyes.[break][break]

"what churro?" nabi replied. she had been in this sort of situation before in her younger years when she messed around and got in trouble with the cops. they always tried to get the truth out of you. the first mistake was to admit it. though clearly, the evidence was there, and it wasn't as if she hadn't just stolen the churro from this girl.[break][break]

"what are you, a cop?"

nabi felt invincible as she and minerva sped off with churro in hand. "haha! sucker!" she bragged and glanced back. her heart sunk when she saw the weapon targeting her back. "tch, no fair!" well, no matter. with her on the back of a cyclizar, they could get out of distance fast enough--[break][break]

"whoa, min!" the dragon, ironically, did come to a halt, but not because of the impending threat behind them. it just so happened that a crowd of tourists, or whatever, now flooded the street and there one way to escape. nabi's hands gripped onto the handlebar and churro, respectively.[break][break]

how much trouble could she actually get into for stealing some random chick's snack?[break][break]

nabi stuffed her face with the churro. it was best to rid the evidence. and at least satisfy her hunger, if she was to get caught. left in the wake of her quick snacking was crumbs and speckles of cinnammon on her gloved hand and chest. she tried wiping at it.[break][break]

"i'm innocent!" the pink-headed woman claimed to CALLISTA MOON, all the while churro chipmunked away in her cheeks.

Pokemon after pokemon jumped into action at the ranger's commands. Nabi admired her quick thinking and the way she was able to dish out orders without a second thought. Had it just been her, the scenario would have only gotten further out of hand. So when Yuina Higashi gave her an order, Nabi did not bark back. Ultimately, it wasn't her place to call the shots.[break][break]

She gave one affirming nod before calling her pokemon back. "Lead everyone to the back of the building," she relayed to the beautifly and swampert. "Quickly, let's go!"[break][break]

Bruno used his large, sturdy figure to shield innocent civilians as Prince motioned for them to follow and make their way behind the banker counters. Nabi joined in, helping some elderly folk onto their feet, and ushered them into the line of people. Above, an alarm now sang its high-pitched cry, and at some point, the sprinklers had activated. Water rained down, leaving them all wet and the tiled floor sliperry.[break][break]

"It'll be safe here," Nabi tried to reassure the people as they cowered and huddled into an office room, away from the frontlines. After doing a head count, she came back out to the floor to see if there were others in the vicinity still.[break][break]

Empty. Good, it meant everyone else had been secured, and the robbers were now positioned outside.[break][break]

Nabi, alongside her swampert and beautifly, headed to the entrance. When she saw Yuina Higashi, she shouted out, "Everyone is safe!" to give the all-clear.
