Mr. Roche pinched the bridge of his nose, irritated. He had heard of the recent appearance of a Giant Chasm in Hoenn, as though such a thing were perfectly commonplace, not long before his own arrival to the region. When his schedule had allowed for a few free hours, he'd made his way to the site in order to determine what - if anything - could be perceived of value in the area.

Instead he'd been faced with a swarm of robotic Volcarona, which - while valuable to to someone, perhaps - held little interest to him beyond being a hindrance to his progression. He really did have the worst timing.

Tossing a pokeball, he released Bullion, who responded to the Iron Moth advancing upon him with a shower of golden coins that battered and dented the moth's metal body, battering it to the ground.

Colin regarded the fallen pokemon with a sniff, stepping around it gingerly. This was turning out to be perhaps more effort than it was worth.

Mr. Roche wrinkled his nose as he surveyed the scene before him. He'd expected a shipment of LUXURY BALLS to utilize in his next round of marketing, and instead he was greeted with the sight of numerous fungal pokemon mixed in with the cargo and a profusion of mushrooms growing on all manner of surfaces as a result.

Keeping a safe distance, he released Alban and indicated the melee with a disdainful lift of his hand. "Clear a path to our holdings, would you kindly?"

The Morelull uttered a tonal cry, hopping forward. His small body illuminated from within, growing outward in a DAZZLING GLEAM that vaporized the airborne spores nearby. Turning his strange, empty-eyed gaze upon the closest Amoonguss, he siphoned energy from it with a GIGA DRAIN that left the offending pokemon emaciated, toppling to the ground with a sound like dried rushes.

It had been almost too easy, in retrospect.

The Hoennian expansion had gone smoothly enough, so far - the properties had been easy enough to acquire, the competition virtually nonexistent, and the staff? Well, everyone was happy to jump on a foreigner's payroll for the right price. He'd even managed to secure a pair of personal estates out of the deal, never mind the dreadful circumstances of the previous owner.

Colin sat in his home office, windows thrown wide to showcase the Lilycove bay behind him. The sun shone, the water sparkled, and the cheerful mood carried into his work as he tapped through a series of spreadsheets on his PC.

Repossession had always been one of his favorite activities, after all.

He glanced at the clock and drummed his fingers on the surface of his desk idly. His interview was due in twenty minutes, and he idly made a bet with himself on her arrival time. One could tell quite a bit about a prospective hire before the questions even started, and punctuality was a particular peeve of his.

He rolled his shoulders, working the stiffness out, and sighed. He'd read her application, of course, and the file his Human Resources team had collected from her background and a few less salient places on the internet. Not strictly ethical, perhaps, but he always liked to know more than less, and as far as he was able to tell, this woman was positively unremarkable.

A knock at his door derailed his train of thought, and he smiled thinly. Fifteen minutes early. Perhaps she would surprise him, after all.

Colin Roche is the CEO and founder of Evolutionary Exchange (marketed as EvoEx), one of the foremost banks in Kalos. Every inch the wealthy playboy, he exults in his status and station, always with a different fling of the week and never without copious amounts of spending to mark his presence. While the philanthropic arm of his bank is plentiful and generous with its donations, Colin himself is cunning, resourceful, and engaged only in ensuring that his own survival and success is held above all else. He is new to Hoenn, but even those that might have known him from Kalos have precious little on him - he has no family to speak of, no long-running entanglements, and nothing that characterizes him beyond the image that he carefully and loudly curates to the public.

As much as he detested it, Mr. Roche found himself in the wilderness once again. One of his couriers had been significantly delayed, and now he knew why - a veritable outbreak of dangerous pokemon littered the Jagged Pass, making progression through the area virtually impossible without a significant detour.

He inspected his carefully-manicured nails as Lisette buzzed ominously ahead, directing a swarm of her minute Combee to sting one of the offending beasts in an ATTACK ORDER. Really, this was a waste of his time, and he could have sent anyone to verify the route, but as much as he loathed the...rurality of it all, he never passed up an opportunity to blow off steam.

He moved forward as Lisette engaged her next opponent, stepping deliberately on the fallen Sneasler as he did so. He only smiled a touch at the resulting crunch.

While Mr. Roche had gotten wind of a number of positively fascinating happenings occurring near Fortree City recently, he had not expected to arrive on-site to a beleaguered Eon Duo and the consequent environmental fallout.

Preferring the high ground in this sort of weather, he strode along one of the high cliffs toward his intended bridge crossing, appearing both utterly drenched and supremely unbothered, and he may well have been the only one. He could see the kerfuffle in the distance, but that wasn't his concern - numerous trainers and their pokemon were already engaged attempting to free the Latias from its infection, and his focus was informational, regardless.

As he neared the bridge, a wayward MIST BALL erupted from the source of the conflict, tearing through the wooden slats with concussive force and ripping the bridge from one side of its moorings, leaving it to hang crazily from the sole line now holding it up. Roche raised an eyebrow, clicking his tongue. "Inconvenient," he murmured to no one but the storm.

Goodness, they would need funding to recover from this - the collateral damage was already apparent, and he hadn't even been by the Weather Center he'd gotten wind of to see whether the facility could withstand something like this. At the very least, he was happy to provide, but if the damage proved too extensive, he might have to take a closer look at the interest rate he put in place for his assistance.

Gesturing to his Meowth, he nodded toward the bridge. With an obedient growl, the small feline dashed forward and SLASHED through the remaining support, causing the bridge to tumble completely into the valley below. "Mm," he smiled blandly as his pokemon returned. "Better this than having it break with someone trying to cross, don't you think?"

Well. The damage might be a bit more extensive than his first evaluation determined.
