[attr="class","monty"]The ever present smirk on Montgomery's lips slowly faded, his sharky grin transforming into a line of neutrality. And, with his gray eyes hidden behind his shades, it'd make his expression unreadable.

However, there was a dangerous aura emitting from him.

How dare a lowly grunt question him? He was his superior, in more ways than one. And Howard fucking Slayte had the gall to question his values and humanity?

What a fucking joke.

If Howard only knew why he did what he did, he'd think maybe, deep down, Montgomery James did have a heart.

With his aerodactyl incapacitated for the time being, he had no qualms with becoming a bit more physical with the grunt. Montgomery took only a stride forward, thanks to the excessive length of leg he boasted, and smacked Howard in an open palm slap.

The noise was resounding, even in the desert.

"Don't you fuckin' question me, Slayte. You joined Rocket. You were wallowin' and mewlin' like a pathetic espurr. I'm showin' you the ropes, and you say 'yes sir.' You don't get to question my methods of trainin'."

Pathetic. Weak. Disgusting.

"Are we clear?"

Beside him were his palosand and krookodile, the latter of which seemed to be smirking sharp fangs at the grunt. He retrieved the pieces of claydol that exploded, putting it back into its ball.

"I may have won with the odds stacked against ya. But, I used the explosion to ensure my victory. There was no need ta drag the fight out longer. 'Sides..."

He tossed the Poke ball up, catching it one handed.

"Better to solidify yer victory than give yer opponent a chance to beat ya. Don't ya think?"

How stupid. How naive.

He hoped he lived to see the day that howard slayte would realize the truth: these Pokemon were nothing more than tools to be used over and over and over and over...

"And they do the work for you. Sounds like yer usin' 'em ta me."

Another taunt, before the Rocket vanished amongst the sandstorm. As he expected, Howard and his aerodactyl charged in, head first. Montgomery shielded his eyes from the harsh sand with his sunglasses and hat.

"It's a bold move ta charge in the dark like that. But..."

Like a monster rising from the shadows, claydol appeared.

Beep. Beep.

BEEPBEEPBEEP

KABOOM.

Montgomery felt his stomach churn at her suggestion. What a terrible idea. He was glad his old reliable was at his side, loaded and ready to fire if the occasion called for it.

"I guess somethin' tangible. But not fuckin' cannibals. Yuck."

He tilted his head up at the rustle of noibats flying away. As his attention turned back to the ground, something glinted ahead from the light of his flashlight. Like a pair of eyes, reflecting light of their lens ever so briefly.

"Ya see that?"

All that stood before him now was the aerodactyl, his apparent prize possession.

"Are ya sure 'bout that?" he asked, his voice oozing self confidence.

palossand stirred a sandstorm, the vision on the field becoming more difficult to see through. krookodile threatened an attack by foul playing. And, claydol...

Well, it was a ticking time bomb. On his cue, it would explode in the area, rendering him down to two Pokemon but damaging the aerodactyl regardless.

"Be willing to sacrifice! These are yer tools!"

The wind blew so hard, it nearly knocked him off the mountain. Thanks to Pipsqueak's metal claws grasping at his jacket, he managed to grab at the vines and pull himself upright again.

"The fuck is that-"

Spirits? Did she just say- "Ya gotta be kiddin' me!"

He knew better than to doubt their existence, especially in a place like this. Navy had shown him how strange the wilds were, breathing under water and coming close to creatures made of bulletproof glass.

Still, it was something shocking when a crimson flame flew by them.

Thankfully, her Pokemon was more prepared, taking the hit straight on. "Pip, help 'er out!"

The SKARMORY ILLUMINATED the area, coming to strike at the spirit with an ATTACK OF HER WING.

He shuffled them away from the stall, walking (maybe a little too fast given his height) quickly to reach the show.
