Roze had practically jumped at the chance to not only see and assist with something rare like fossil pokémon—especially those not native to Galar as adorable as the Galarian species were—but she'd felt both confident and interested in that she'd be handling this freak sandstorm situation with an archaeological expert. As Howard had explained, Roze had nodded as she noted that from a distance the inclement weather had seemed rather oddly localised, considering its size. She'd agreed with and was impressed by the thought process that it was likely caused by another pokémon. Her own knowledge was a bit more generalised about them that she wouldn't have been able to quite directly call out which one it may be herself, and the young woman was thankful that she'd had someone with more know-how than herself to call a partner for this little ordeal.[break][break]

"No, none at all," Roze had given the archaeologist a determined smile, her gaze had been focused on the small glimpses of the fossil pokémon down below, though had returned quickly to him, she'd wondered if the man would be quite alright given his eye, but she'd felt it'd be ruder to mention it if it seemed that he himself didn't seem to have too many problems with it.[break][break]

At the very least, Howard probably could look forward to that free coffee, if he didn't particularly mind the keen conservationist picking his brain to learn more about these extant relics afterwards.

Roze had noticed the nerve in the gentleman in front of her, with the rather obvious stammer, though she'd smiled nonetheless, feeling bringing it up would just damper the mood, "it is a rather pleasant day, isn't it?" she'd agreed before quickly answering his follow up question, "Oh, no, I'd stopped by the park on my way to visit the Natural History museum, it's my first time stopping by Slateport and I felt I ought to pay as many wonderful little destinations a visit and," she'd smiled and pat her Altaria's head before sending her off to go curiously visit the rest of the stranger's pokémon, "well, I ended up stumbling upon this beautiful little pond."[break][break]

She'd glanced over to her Altaria as it approached the other bird and dragon pokémon, curiously watching from the water's edge, seeming interested in the others but not wanting to get her own fluffy feathers wet. With a slight chuckle, Roze had turned her attention back, "Roze Falkner, it's a pleasure to meet you," she'd greeted, and whilst she'd normally offer a hand, she'd considered from his body language and nervousness that perhaps physical contact wouldn't be quite the way to go this time around.[break][break]

"If I'm intruding on anything, I don't want to make you uncomfortable, but if you'd have me, I wouldn't mind appreciating the scenery a little longer while I let dear Cloudy have her fill of fun," the raven-haired woman had offered to give the man his peace and quiet back, not wanting to stress him out. She wasn't sure what the reason was but, she wasn't going to exactly prod someone she just met about it, especially if it'd make them even more uncomfortable. Nonetheless she'd smiled to the man, and shortly after to his Ninetales, appreciating just how serene the winter-coloured fox appeared.

As Roze and Sunshine seemed to enjoy their little break, it seemed they'd had a visitor, a slight rumble from beneath them had gotten the attention of the trainer and her little red robin, a soft trail of tunnels that perforated the ground seeming to form circles around them in a rather haphazard pattern. With a slight pop as a Dugtrio seemed to unearth itself just a ways away from Roze who'd given the mole pokémon a slight wave. The Dugtrio seemed to bounce amongst one another as they curiously approached.[break][break]

Roze had noticed the trio seeming to eye her muesli bar, and she'd laughed as she'd pieced together what they might just want, a bit of honey and peanut butter alongside some dried fruits most certainly made her little snack rather tantalizing. Thankfully, Roze had plenty to share—though she might just need to cut her trip short to do so. Nonetheless, she'd offered what remained of her own one to the pokémon who while initially wary despite approaching themselves, one of them had seemed a little braver, leaning forward to take a small bite.[break][break]

With what seemed like a delighted response that had let the rest of the trio of moles gain the confidence to approach too, Roze had giggled, "hold on, be patient," she'd said in a rather soothing tone, setting down the seeds she'd had out for Sunshine to the side—which the little red robin had jumped down from the perch of her arm to continue nibbling on given that there seemed to be no danger. The raven-haired conservationist had rummaged slightly through her pack, retrieving a handful more of her field snacks alongside a pair of bowls.[break][break]

She'd poured some water for the Dugtrio and broke up the bar to smaller chunks before pushing the bowls forward, happy to let them dig in, "would you like to come with me?" she'd asked rather nonchalantly as the pokémon continued to chow down on their meal. She'd shown a poké ball in her hand, giving the mole pokémon time to ruminate and decide, making sure to be as non-threatening as possible, she hadn't minded if they simply tunneled away after getting what they wanted, but they'd surely been rather charming with how much they seemed to enjoy their food.

Roze had been slightly caught off guard, though chuckled nonetheless, "you hit it right on the mark," she'd said in a rather amused tone. She hadn't thought that she was that easy to discern as a Ranger considering she'd been in civilian clothes for now, but it wasn't that big of a deal to her. "Roze Falkner, pleasure to meet you," she'd added further with a slight curtsy, "and you are?"[break][break]

Curiosity had taken hold of Roze and her Altaria, naturally, considering that beside the woman she'd just met, had been a pair of pokémon she'd never encountered before. She'd curiously looked over and studied the unique pokémon from where she was, rather amazed with how quickly the ghost pokémon dealt with the Honchkrow and just how effortlessly her trainer had caught the pokémon. With a slight applause, Roze's curiosity had gotten the better of her, "say, this may be a little strange and impolite considering we'd just met, however... is it quite alright if I ask what sort of pokémon you have with you? I don't quite recognise either of them,"[break][break]

Though despite her curiosity, something else had caught her attention as her Altaria had chirped a little ways closer towards the waters, standing at the edge considering a slight aversion to the water—Cloudy wasn't particularly fond of her cotton feathers getting drenched too often—she'd drawn her trainer's attention to a Lumineon that had seemed to edge closer, practically face-to-face with her Altaria. "Oh, pardon me for a moment," Roze had quickly said before tending to the situation in a hurry, there'd been a look of concern on her face, ever the knowledgeable—borderline obsessed—she'd recalled that Lumineon were typically pokémon that resided along the ocean floor, and the first thing that had came to mind was that perhaps the Neon pokémon had been injured.[break][break]

Yet her fears seemed to be unfounded, thankfully, the luminescent fish had seemed perfectly healthy and just as healthy as Cloudy considering the two seemed to be playing some sort of game mimicking one another's movements, with Cloudy seeming to sing and even step closer into the waters despite her aversion to getting her wings wet outside of a bath. By the time Roze had made it to her Altaria, it seemed the two were fast friends, considering how playful the two seemed to be acting around one another. "My, what are you doing up here?" Roze had asked the wild pokémon as she crouched down to try and match their height, if he hadn't been injured, perhaps he'd been displaced from his usual environment by outside forces, or that this was simply atypical behaviour, perhaps spawning patterns due to the seasonal change. Nonetheless, she'd rather simply offered a poké ball to the Lumineon, not particularly minding if he wished to swim away but nonetheless silently offering the pokémon a chance to spend more time with a new friend, a gentle smile on her face as she worked with her preferred method of catching pokémon. She'd most certainly been curious but, she could find out the unusual patterns later.

A volcanic region was quite frankly, a treat for Roze, a unique locale that she'd never had the opportunity to explore before. Rather, she'd read plenty about such things, and she was more than interested in finding out just how much of what she'd read was true—particularly how well the volcanic soot nourished the local flora, as well as the unique chance to stumble upon rarer fire-type and ground-pokémon that found these far warmer climates more suitable for their living standards.[break][break]

She'd gathered a small sample of the well-nourished soils and clay in the area, her dear little Fletchling, Sunshine, curiously eyeing her activity from atop her head. Roze had settled herself in Petalburg finally, in a home with a nice small greenhouse behind it, and she was curious as to just how impactful the soil surrounding this volcano was. Even if it was rather swelteringly hot for the Galarian conservationist, she'd been well prepared with plenty of water to keep herself hydrated and cool as she'd sat herself down a little distance further, closer towards the trail down towards Lavaridge that seemed to be known as the Jagged Pass.[break][break]

Laying down her pack, she'd figured it was good to just enjoy her time, unwrapping a homemade muesli bar for herself and stretching out her hand filled with seeds from a container for Sunshine to peck from as he made himself comfortable on her arm. She'd chuckled to herself seeing just how much her Fletchling seemed to enjoy the treat of wild seeds.

For Roze, much of the region had still been rather new to the Galar-raised young woman, and despite only having moved to the region recently, her own little home had been left rather unoccupied and still a packaged mess. All for the sake of sating her curiosity, she'd wanted to tour the region first and foremost, and today she'd found herself visiting this small corner of Slateport Park by pure happenstance, followed closely by her sky-coloured songbird, each little step she took echoed with the soft pitter patter of the big cotton ball of a bird's own footfall.[break][break]

Roze had always felt it easier to be surrounded by greenery and the open sky—not quite obsessed with the outdoors, but always eager to enjoy the simple beauty of the world around her. She'd been softly humming alongside her Altaria, an occasional soft twirl to smile to her partner pokémon who'd been following along, a soft chirp that matched their duet echoing in response.[break][break]

Of course, something had piqued her interest, she'd noticed a small commotion out by a rather isolated pond area within the park, a rather unique group of pokémon playing in the cool waters. The raven-haired conservationist had smiled, a hand raised up to cover her mouth as she'd chuckled at the rather charming scene. She'd surmised that they'd likely belonged to a trainer, after all, even without the Dragonite amongst them, as much of a gathering spot areas of fresh water were, most bird pokémon tended to commune with their own rather than mix so drastically. With a bit more looking around, Roze had spotted a person who she'd figured was the owner of the group of pokémon, waving from the distance as she'd slowly started to walk to him, her Altaria curiously peeking out to the water.

Roze had stretched her arms high up above her head, doing some rather rudimentary light calisthenics as she'd slowly stepped onto the warm sands of the beach. Patting her Altaria's head with a warm smile. It hadn't been that long since Roze had moved to Hoenn, and despite the island region's vast expanse, it was this quiet little beachside that had reminded her most of home. The lapping of the waves, the slight spray of salt in the air as she took in the sights and sounds.[break][break]

While part of it had been some ever-so-slight homesickness, Roze had been interested in the wildlife here, alongside the chance to meet anyone new, considering she'd moved to a place where she'd had no real contacts. She could spot splashes across the vast ocean that glittered in the expanse out beyond, decent indicators of a teeming sea life, alongside countless aquatic bird pokémon fluttering about in the air. Shielding her eyes from the sun with a smile, she'd walked aimlessly, taking in the sights and making a mental note of the different creatures and critters within view.[break][break]

It wasn't particularly long for her to notice another person on the beach, though it had taken a bit for her to pull herself away from her own little mental study of the beachside around her to properly to greet the stranger. The raven-haired girl had waved from the distance, unsure if the stranger had even noticed her yet—her own Altaria following closely behind with a slight chirp—"It's a wonderful day, isn't it?" she'd rather happily called out to the person and her pokémon.
