Cloudy had chirped curiously, fluttering her cloudy down with a little shimmy as she made herself comfortable by the water's edge, seemingly unfazed by the Dragonite's approach, and if anything, tilting her head from side to side as the Altaria inspected the Dragonite in turn, a soft humming melody trilling out of the song bird.[break][break]

Roze had smiled watching her dear friend interact with other pokémon, though her attention had turned back to Beckett as he'd helped bolster her image of the museum with his support for it, even if he hadn't been, knowing that it's at least got a good reputation was a good sign. Roze had smiled before sitting down, happy to give Beckett a bit more space but also curiously watching his pokémon and the man himself, somewhat absentmindedly letting her thoughts escape aloud, "it's quite nice to see such well-cared for pokémon, they're all so healthy and beautiful," she'd been smiling without realising it, letting the sun warm her skin as she took in the natural air and the swaying greenery as she watched her Altaria play with the other pokémon.[break][break]

"I really ought to bring the rest of my pokémon here for an excursion at some point, though, Mr. Beck, would you happen to have any sort of place to suggest going to? I'm a little new to the region, everything's quite exciting." she'd beamed.

Roze had tilted her head slightly at the reference to a pokémon named Rayquaza, while she was rather well-versed in terms of typical pokémon and their many interactions with the world around them, she wasn't too educated on pokémon that seemed to be tied to myths and folktales. The conservationist hadn't been able to honestly imagine a pokémon so fast let alone know a name like that, curious about what such a pokémon would even look like, or better yet, what sort of biology the creature had—a pokémon supposedly able to escape the atmosphere must subsist on a rather high energy diet, surely?[break][break]

Though her theories and positing would have to be put aside for now, with Josh noting the amount of dragon-types that resided in the area, and their tendency to overwhelm newer trainers, while Roze wasn't exactly a rookie trainer despite being a rookie cadet, that was all the more reason for her to keep a level head about this, overconfidence was an insidious killer, after all. Calming herself down with a deep breath, she'd brought out Stormy, her Duraludon, her go to for defensive attrition. The alloy pokémon howling out as it stretched its limbs and took in its surroundings, looking rather pleased to see his trainer, who'd given him a good rub atop his head—though she'd had to stretch just a little to reach the top of his head—with a soft smile before following the senior ranger and gym leader into the mysterious ancient site.[break][break]

"I'll do my best not to slow you down," she'd said with a determined smile.

As Howard explained the possibility of the volcanic activity having had an effect on the environment, Roze had nodded along, considering his theory, somewhat curious by his statement of how the region was falling apart, while she wasn't quite sure what he had meant by that statement, she'd nonetheless smiled to herself, making a small vow to do her best to help where she can. The Flygon would be her starting point, at least.[break][break]

She'd stood up and dusted herself off, happy with her work as she turned to look at the herd of Cranidos alongside Howard, giggling to herself at how goofy the fossil pokémon were, with their own pleasant little charms to them. Her attention had quickly been turned back to the archaeologist with a soft little, "hmmm?" in response.[break][break]

"Coffee sounds wonderful, I hope you don't mind a couple questions, though." She'd flashed a small grin, happy with the work the two of them had managed to do today.

With the archaeologist's approval, Roze had hurried on over, returning her Dugtrio to his ball as she'd made her way through the desert, feeling the heat of the sun bearing down now that the sandstorm had died down, nonetheless she'd continued without missing a step, a brisk jog to Stormy and the wild Flygon. Thankfully with Shirley seeming to have taken most of the fight, beyond a couple of scrapes that hadn't seemed to be bothering the Duraludon, the alloy pokémon was fairly unscathed.[break][break]

She'd smiled to the big dragon pokémon, returning him to his ball to care for later on before turning her attention to the Flygon, a rather determined look on her face as she looked over the desert spirit. She'd pulled out some potion sprays, giving them a quick shake to mix the formula within, a slight spray to make sure it was ready to go, before she'd taken care of the more strenuous hits the Flygon had seemed to take. While she was careful not to do anything too drastic—lest she awake a wild pokémon and get injured herself—she'd felt around the dragon's body to check for any oddities or serious injuries.[break][break]

Ultimately it seemed beyond the damage from the battle, which she'd taken care of by now, Roze hadn't seemed to find anything too serious, bar a swollen bruise of some sort, perhaps the source of the Flygon's rage, as she'd started to treat it, cleaning off the injury, "I think so, do you think this is what caused the Flygon to be so upset in the first place, professor?" she'd turned back to Howard, squinting somewhat with the sun in her eyes, shielding them as she did. She'd returned to treating the pokémon nonetheless, ultimately finishing it off with a bandage wrap, "these are bio-degradable so... once the poor thing's healthy and they naturally fall off, it shouldn't harm anyone," she'd noted, rubbing the sweat off her brow as she'd sighed a breath of relief, "everything should be alright now though."

The conservationist's expression had perked with a hint of surprise upon hearing the surname, she'd been aware of it given that she was Galar-born, though admittedly despite how well-studied Roze was... most of her studies pertained to environmental biology, pokémon habits and how to take care of them, she'd been far too in love with nature to really focus on much else as embarrassing as it may have been to admit. Nonetheless, given that she was fairly certain nothing she could do would really do the conversation justice in terms of what seemed to be their mutual Galarian blood, she'd simply smiled and nodded to assure she'd remember the name.[break][break]

She'd nodded further as Elise had introduced her pokémon, about as curious about them as she was about the woman of royal blood that seemed to be standing in front of her, though likewise she'd felt it might be too rude to let her curiosity get the better of her over another's pokémon—worse if she'd stress them out by not considering how they might react to her behaviour if she did. She'd chuckled to herself a little, hiding her mouth with her hand, it seemed she'd need to study up tonight, with three new topics she'd need to try and find out more about on top of the curious Lumineon sighting.[break][break]

"They're rather lovely," she'd offered a compliment, though it seemed the moment of sparring had drawn some further attention, a Carracosta of all things, seeming to trudge closer having been attracted by the commotion and wanting some action for herself—or perhaps she'd been antsy and territorial, nonetheless, with a quick two-fingered whistle, from what seemed clearly to be quite some time spent practicing, Cloudy had sprung into action, interposing herself between the wild pokémon and the two Galarians, a soft lullaby echoing out as she'd Sung the Carracosta to sleep, with the conservationist tossing a ball the fossil pokémon's way. It was clear she wasn't particularly fond of causing too much of a fuss, preferring to settle things more peacefully if she could.[break][break]

"So, what brings you out here on a fine day like this, Elise?" she'd swivel-turned with a smile.

She'd nodded in response to the archaeologist's reassurance but, she couldn't really hide her own worry, unlike how it seemed that Howard was fairly confident with his Aerodactyl, Roze couldn't quite shake a bit of worry about her Duraludon, while she's been a trainer for a decent amount of time even before moving to Hoenn, and trusts her pokémon with her life... she couldn't help but be worried for their safety as much as she'd been confident enough at the time to trust in Shirley and Stormy to make it through okay.[break][break]

Yet, her worry evaporated with the brilliant cry and shine of the victorious Aerodactyl, followed up by her own Duraludon's powerful howl for triumph just a little ways back, the alloy pokémon seeming to have done his job well with covering fire with barely a few scratches over him—having seemed to have had plenty of time to shore up his defenses given the massive distance he'd had.[break][break]

"Now that the Cranidos are safe, do you think it'd be alright if I tended to that poor Flygon alongside our pokémon?" Roze had turned to ask, seeming fine with delegating the call to the archaeologist given that he'd seemed rather knowledgeable about the pokémon in these environs. She'd wanted to make sure the wild pokémon would recover just fine from the battle before leaving it. She'd already been halfway pulling potions and bandages out of her bag.

The conservationist and newbie ranger that she was, while she wasn't typically one to shy away from getting into the thick of things, she'd politely declined with a serene smile, "No, no, it's fine," she'd said simply with a soft wave of her hands. As much as she was aware of the general strength of dragon pokémon, she wasn't particularly fond of the idea of burdening a mentor's pokémon like this just for the sake of her own leisure, rather she'd simply waited at the base of the tower for the pokémon and their trainer to have their own fun, honestly she was far more entranced by the local fauna and flora at such a place like this. Looking around while her Pawmi sat atop her head, she'd made a mental note for herself to go study up on what exactly this mysterious Sky Pillar was, and what it was about it that seemed to even attract pokémon to live about these parts, perhaps it was simply how isolated it was left abandoned in ruin like this? A little lonely but most certainly peaceful.[break][break]

As Josh had noted the dangers of the more powerful pokémon that may exist higher up, Roze had nodded, though an inquisitive curiosity had taken hold of her for a brief moment as she cocked her head slightly—causing Rumble to grip on for dear life to not accidentally fall off, which the young woman had quickly apologised and pat the Pawmi on the head to let him relax—folding her arms as her gaze seemed to climb upwards, "Just what sort of pokémon would live so high up when there'd be little reason to do so?" she'd said aloud, most pokémon were just like any other creature or even us humans, they needed their basic needs fulfilled, and such an imposingly tall, crumbling tower surely wouldn't be a good place to conveniently amass food or water. Though she was aware some predatory pokémon preferred to house themselves in seclusion to avoid getting attacked themselves.[break][break]

She'd had half a mind to climb the tower one day, though she certainly had no plans on burdening anyone by putting herself needlessly in danger for her curiosity, she'd definitely need to research and make sure she could handle whatever she might find at a later date... but for now, she'd turned to face Josh, "Shall we see what we can find?" she'd said with a gentle smile.

Roze had struggled to help try and let the Cranidos hurry along, only having an easier time than Howard because of her Dugtrio's assistance, though it certainly had been just as much as an ordeal for her—struggling her way up and putting her back into carrying, pushing or otherwise giving the fossil pokémon a makeshift platform with her hands to help them along, though occasionally being swatted in the face by their tails or headbutt too.[break][break]

As the last of the Cranidos had made its way up out of the valley, Roze had looked like a mess, her face caked with sand and dirt as she'd just barely dragged herself up over the ledge and sat herself down next to the collapsed archaeologist, "they're rather... rather rambunctious aren't they?" she'd said with a rather positive tone, at the very least the Cranidos seemed healthy. Despite her Dugtrio's worries, Roze had once again clapped with a smile of delight—nodding as she'd made sure to remember everything he'd said about Cranidos social habits—like a child watching a rather spectacular street performance as it seemed Howard had rizzed the Cranidos successfully and not doomed the two to getting trampled and pummeled to death. She'd relaxed a little, it seemed the situation was going decently, very much so impressed by his knowledge and his ability to keep his cool in such a dangerous situation*. She'd thought to herself that she'd have to learn how to make these cries for herself, rather genuinely happy to see in action something she'd never even read in any of the books she's studied back home.[break][break]

She'd made sure to catch the tail of the group to ensure every one makes it out as the archaeologist seemed ready to lead the Cranidos to safety.[break][break]

Soot had lingered for just a moment longer, still confused by the fact that nothing bad had happened from that lose-lose gamble, seeming to trigger some sort of tension-trap to disarm it when the group had left the area, the tunnels he'd made earlier seemed to collapse beneath where Roze and Howard had been, what was apparently meant to be a means of escape for the two had it come down to it.

She'd been sitting on the floor watching with an almost childish excitement, her eyes glued to the scene unfolding in front of her with far too much interest as he managed to Chris Pratt his way through the dinosaur situation.[break][break]

She'd even clapped as he'd managed to quell the herd, with a rather impressed "ooooh!" as she'd delighted in his expertise.[break][break]

Unlike the two trainers, it seemed Soot had thankfully had the foresight to have a backup plan, seeming to Dig out some tunnels for reasons unbeknownst to either the ornery Cranidos herd nor the two trainers.

Of course, Roze hadn't intended to be malicious with the 'Mr.', rather in the heat of the moment she'd likely forgotten she was dealing with a bona fide archaeologist, something she'd probably be embarrassed about doing at a later date if it ever got pointed out to her.[break][break]

Yet, any chance to even realise at this moment, let alone rectify had been blown away with the wind as Roze had witnessed the professional take a rock-sturdy skull to the gut, only to get right back up and get knocked right back down. If anything, Roze was surprised and a little impressed by his determination, but surely it wouldn't be good for his health if she didn't do something. A bit concerned, she'd tried to grab Howard and pull him aside before the almost comically clockwork headbutt had slammed right into him—the timing of the Cranidos getting a little too accurate.[break][break]

Back in the chaos of the fight, a brilliant bright burst of light had practically pierced through the sandstorm, Stormy's Hyper Beam blast shooting true as it hit the Flygon square with Shirley keeping it in place and distracted!

Roze had frowned somewhat at the idea of taking down the Flygon, even if she might be able to tend to it after the situation was dealt with, she'd also considered the fact that the two of them entering surely wasn't helping in terms of its territorial aggression, but, she knew if they didn't, the situation wouldn't bode well for Mr. Slayte nor herself, let alone the poor Cranidos that had been trapped here in the first place.[break][break]

She'd blown a whistle with her fingers regardless, hoping Stormy could hear it over the winds and ensuing battle, the whistle had been a sign to prepare a Hyper Beam to hopefully help ground the dragon pokémon.[break][break]

As they continued down the path, it was Soot that had reached the Cranidos first, admittedly the sudden intrusion frightening them for a moment before it seemed some sort of rudimentary communication was established by the mole pokémon, with Roze catching up next, "we just want to get you all to safety!" she'd tried her best to explain over the cutting sandswept winds.[break][break]
