How did she end up here? That's ... a good question, though one she relies on Cassandra to answer. Still not quite sure what this simulation is about, it's almost wondrous how it existed for so long and didn't get a taste of her exceedingly endless curiosity. But here she is now, amidst everything that is and isn't happening, a grin on her face. "Maybe it's a sign for you to move ..." Vespa says with an ominous kind of voice, though she isn't quite so sure how serious she'd actually be.[break]

For now, she looks over to the purple chunk, something ... irritates her about it quite so. The other people - NPCs? - in this seem to be quite devoted to it, in a way that seems like they want them to be devoted to it, too. Strange ... "Uh-huh. So, like, can I just-" Vespa approaches the chunk, and touches it, a hesitant finger first before she extends her whole hand towards it.

It seems a little absurd how she still hasn't been able to get hold of her friend, but then again ... the current situation isn't exactly making it easy to navigate around and about. Vespa just has to make-do with what exists, it seems, and she is quite determined to ensure her friend's safety, whenever that may be. She'll get to it eventually ...[break]

For now, though, there is little she can do, being stranded in another part of Sea Mauville after she parted ways with the ranger captain, Shalin Nariya. The Ditto by her side remains transformed as Yanmega, which at least allows it some flexibility when it comes to the grounds that are covered in debris and hubris. "Aye ... let's see what's up ahead first, maybe?" Perhaps she could help some more, or maybe, she'll finally find Cassandra. Or maybe it'll find someone else that'll be able to tell her a little more, or about how she can help.

It seems to be a well-coordinated spiel by now - she dives in, grabs something, dives up again, inspects the item, and sees how the Grookey is doing amidst all of the water. For now, he is still quite immersed in his task, so she leaves him alone, amused yet ... but hey, that'll give her some time to find something really good, won't it?

Sighing, it's almost weird how easy she found nailing the Magikarp Splash, but this twist thing? Maybe that's because she typically doesn't like severe plot twists. That must be it. Ah ... curse literature, for sure. "Shouldn't have roasted that book's plot so hard, huh ...?" Vespa shakes her head, patting the Mantine that is only looking at her bewildered (as far as possible). But the day is still long and she won't feel very satisfied eating out later if she gives up now, so ... "Onto another wave!"

Confidence is definitely not a department where one would find Vespa lacking typically, with a sort of brute-ish outlook on life - simple, yet effective. Performing on a big stage with no prior rehearsals of any sort is ... strange to say the least, much less since she has no clue how she winded up here, but ... hey! At least this little event seems all blocked off of social media, and only a couple (hundreds? thousands?) strangers would live to tell the tale. Rosy prospects, if one were to ask Vespa.[break]

The Grookey would accompany her on-stage, a cool pair of pink sunglasses sitting atop his nose as he roams the room where they prepare. While Vespa is putting on a pair of green sunglasses herself, the Grookey has made it a mission to walk over to Cian, inviting him to join him as he cheerfully sings (the closest proximity to it), hitting his trusted wooden stick rhythmically on the nearest surface that can make a clink type of sound. Does that count as 'vocal' warm-ups ... she wonders.[break]

In either way, Vespa is now putting on a pair of purple sunglasses on the Wooper, her skateboard lying around somewhere as she looks over to Cassandra. "Peachy as pie!" And then, she looks over to their last member, curious what he might be thinking about, observing him with a green tint to her vision.

Mind too occupied with what is going to shoot a question about the weird thing with the lights and glows and stuff (the Sygna suit), they are already heading out. Maybe, Vespa is making this more urgent than it needs to be, a sense of panic and pressure flooding her brain upon seeing how the structures keep falling in and over, but knowing that she isn't alone in this is comforting. It is certainly more reassuring to follow orders of an experienced ranger captain than calling her own shots.[break]

As the Yanmega-Ditto heads off with Shalin's flock of bug types and mimicking what Flit is doing, Vespa positions herself close to the water where the Bruxish are, feigning attacks to lure them towards the spot where the ranger is waiting to unleash - woah. Stunned for a moment, questions are threatening to burst out of her about what the heck just happened, but before she can shout anything, hesitant movements in the background are drawing Vespa's attention instead. Have they been there the whole time? Maybe they have been backed into a corner by the violent Bruxish? Huh ... "-Captain, uh, behind you! I think people are trapped there!"[break]

Exchanging a glance and a nod with the Falinks, she is also making her way heading towards the area, careful of the debris around her. Pity she can't just fly ... maybe she should try and get one of those bug or flying types one of those days ...

Eyes flicking over to the ranger booth she hasn't paid much mind to since, but it seems intriguing to give it a shot nonetheless - especially after his advertising-of-sorts, that he spoke of more convincingly in a few sentences than the minutes of talk they had about his current job. It makes her grin a little, nod, "sure, I'll check them out, too. You sure made it sound more appealing than your job." Her voice is amused, even as there is a thoughtful edge to it, too - her carefree expression turning into something more genuine (and a little bewildered over it, maybe). "Thanks for being honest, though," she clears her throat. Man ... does conversing with adults always have to be this embarrassing?[break]

Poking the Grookey on her shoulder and silently communicating that he might wanna give his goodbyes to the Urshifu, she does feel how she should maybe move on, with a line behind her and all that stuff - the day is long and she's likely just one of many he'll have to answer persistent questions for. The war ... It would be a lie to say that she wouldn't have caught anything of it, but it still seems so far off her own reality. But who really knows? "Hmm ... sounds like a sound enough plan, yeah," she only remarks with a nod.[break]

Before she makes a turn to head off to wherever it'll take her, she looks Navy stern into the face, a contemplative expression - determined, for sure. Though he has answered her questions quite so, there are still more that she is curious about - and maybe more as she treads on her path, wondering yet how she'll turn out in the end. "Hey ... when I make it far enough to beat you in a Pokémon battle, will you answer me any questions I have?"

It seems her 'lucky spot' hasn't been very lucky after all, so after she gets up for another chunk of air, she decides it's high time to return to the Grookey - only that he is now wildly gesturing for her to stay away, apparently embarrassed by the fact that he hasn't managed to find something pink. Vespa gives the other a deadpan look, trailing her eyes back and forth between trainer and Pokémon before clearing her throat, "... I actually meant you. You, err, are you not disturbing the public?" But his confidence is kind of shaking her own confidence, maybe a little. He's a strange guy, that much she gets by now. The Grookey on her shoulders is only looking curiously, the hand holding his prized stick reaching out a little.[break]

"... Yeah, been for - about thirty minutes, maybe? Got the late classes, though, so who knows about the rest," she only manages to reply to the stranger before he's already going on about something else. Why would this guy care? What even has he been doing? Is that some type of influencer trend on social media these days? Definitely not in her circles of the internet, that's for sure ... she crosses her arms, "Done with what? Are you filming something? And why is it your Pokémon's fault, and not yours?" Seriously, just what is this stranger even doing ... The Mabosstiff is cute, though. She feels the urge to pet him, but holds back (until she knows what is going on, anyway).

Vespa pauses a little, letting the new information into her mind as she furrows her eyebrows a little in thought. "So ... nobody will be dying soon?" she mutters, going off of what she knows of Lampents from the various skim-throughs she did of some age-old PokéDex in her father's study. So that also means she won't be dying soon, right? Well - that's definitely a relief. "Or why would it hang here now? Err, float." The Zorua-turned-Grookey is sighing internally, hitting a small paw against her trainer's leg as she nibbles on the fabric of her pants, a clear indication that Vespa should probably shut her trap for a little.[break]

So, she does after lurking back to her feet for a moment, taking her time to instead deal with the array of information presented to her now. Which - makes more sense, now, she'd figure. Useful skills to have for sure - sadly not something she seems to be able to train in. In general, Vespa has been wondering if the other is a ranger or not, given the whole environmental issues and all. But captain? Huh ... "So, what kinda issues are they reporting on?" she inquires further, curious yet while they would even care. Or maybe, they are all a smidge above the average, overworked human being. She would certainly believe that. (Maybe a powerpoint presentation is due ...)

Vespa is saluting to the other with a nod, "aye! Got it!" It seems unfortunate that no other information is available at the moment, but research does take its time (especially when done correctly ... haha), so it's nothing they can possibly fuss over now. And Lutgarde does have a point, with the safety of everyone and everything being of priority right now.[break]

Looking around, she tries to stay in close proximity to the ranger, with the Falinks Squad having split up to search in near vicinity, in multiple directions. It doesn't take long until one of them alerts the other troopers and the brass, pointing at muddy footprints and a broken building. "Oh? What'cha found?" And then, Vespa hears it - the desperate cries of Pokémon ...! She looks over to the ranger. "Err-"

There flashes a moment of intrigue over her face at the 'promise' of a riddle-speaking class before - a beat too late - realisation dawns and she musters the other with scepticism, and a hint of bemusement. "You're messing with me," she states, arms crossed, as she looks at him. This guy is kinda funny, even if he kind of tricked her. "Where did you really learn to talk like that?" she can't help but to be a little persistent however. Vespa feels like he kind of owes her now, even that is quite untrue.[break]

Yet, she nods at his further explanation - words that she can't fully understand in its depths, but ... well, notices of police brutality and suchlike aren't entirely lost on her, specifically not in history class as she wouldn't be so bold as to make a guess on how things are on the present. Yet if that's the kind of background he has ... "So, why'd you join, then, all things considered? Well, as much as I heard, anyway." Question after question ... if Fuyue were here, the Hisuian Zorua would have lost her mind over all the inquiries happening, but she is not, and there is only Sun on her shoulder, and he is overenthusiastic with the way the Urshifu is reacting - tapping against the pen with a chaotic kind of rhythm, but if one listens long enough, there is an intriguing structure to it.[break]

In the meanwhile, Vespa's face distorts to a grimace over the sheer thought of being burnt. "Wait, that actually happens? Are you really trying to sell me your job?" Her voice is a little exasperated, and quite amused, by the hint of a smirk on her face. Hah ... yeah, this guy really is funny.
