Adrian overhears a crackling coming from behind them—but it's difficult to see through the storm. Corviknight shifts beneath him, ducking into a barrel roll as streaks of lightning come thundering from their hind. He's rolled off in the maneuver, hitting the sloped tiles of a Sootopolis residence before clambering, falling onto the canvas roofing of a market. OOMF.[break][break]

Corviknight screeches as it crash lands elsewhere, causing an audible ruckus. As he finds his footing, Adrian releases Greninja at his side, noticing the rising sea level overwhelming the terrace below. Soon, it would reach them...[break][break]

Kyogre had to be stopped, or it'd drown the city.[break][break]

But Remiel was his problem now.[break][break]

Adrian and Greninja scale the nearest building, and Adrian scans the skies for his aggressor. Once identified, he hopes to direct Greninja's attention towards it, signaling to attack:[break][break]

"Bring them down!" Through the combination of springy legs and natural acrobatics, Greninja would fling itself into the air after a bit of urban parkour, coming within striking distance of Remiel and his Garchomp under the favorable conditions of TAILWIND. Its tongue lashes out, hoping to wrest the two out of the sky, down into the mud.[break][break]

Adrian turns to face their aggressor, and in the dark he observes seven familiar dots gleaming through the dim. There's a sinking feeling in his gut that leaves his legs leaden. In that moment, a slight tremble overtakes his hand, but it instinctively reaches for Furor's pokeball—a reflex as much as instinct that may have bought his life.[break][break]

But he cannot save Ekans. The creature darts at Regirock through the dim, and is promptly smashed away. It could have perished on the spot. Adrian cannot afford to look after any care it may need, barely reaching for his pokeball in time. Only by some good grace is he able to conjure GYARADOS to his defense, before Regirock shifts its attention back to them.[break][break]

SHIT, SHIT—SHIT!!![break][break]

But its momentum shifts forward suddenly, lurching through the tunnel as Ekans' illuminate fades out, the silhouette of his assailant disappearing with the last wink of light.[break][break]

"FUROR, WATERFALL!" Adrian calls out fervently, his aggression tinged with fear. Furor answers the challenge boldly—its body surges forward with the might of a raging river...[break][break]

...But with the sound of a roaring mudslide, the doom-driven serpent is sent careening backwards. The ground swells with dispersing water, and it's difficult to see through the gloom—save for those goddamned eyes.

Adrian perks up, and seems like he's ready to answer—but stops short. His mouth, slightly agape, closes shut once more. His eyes tell of conflict, uncertainty; yet there smolders a bitterness.[break][break]

He doesn't turn back to Tempest, casting a dejected look to the side. Holding his breath, he unleashes it all with the built up tension he's holding. Letting it go makes it a little easier.[break][break]

I believe my only current sale for the Special Hunt was a Nosepass, but Proboards search function is buggy—so I'm not sure the lack of anything showing up in my search means I didn't already repost it, or it just doesn't show up properly.

Adrian disagrees, but the other is silent for a moment. He does not refuse them further, and instead insists on moving forward. The silence is almost welcomed, but as the trainer trawled through the dungeons, he cannot help but wonder at something. "Awfully quiet, suddenly," he chided back at Howard, hoping to goad them.[break][break]

SILENCE
[break]

Casting a glance over his shoulder, there is nobody following after him. He pauses in his tracks, turning around. Nobody. Where the Hell had Howard gone off to? This couldn't mean well.[break][break]

"...Howard?" His voice cascades. But the only response is a softening echo. He turns back.[break][break]

Approaching where they'd last stood, Adrian hears it—a clatter of rock. Perhaps a groan.[break][break]

Unown-M is replaced with an Illumina Ekans. Adrian directs a hand over the area, and the creature illuminates the area. A hole had opened up in the earth, and it's presumed Howard was swallowed into it. Adrian creeps forward.[break][break]

"Shine your light down there," he asks. Ekans obeys, and a spotlight fills the chamber below with light. He can see enough below to know it is a safe distance to drop—but doesn't immediately recognize Howard among the rubble.[break][break]

What is going on here...?[break][break]

"Ekans bite down here..." It was unconventional, but he rappeled into the bowels of the earth using its serpentine figure, perhaps to some discomfort for the creature. Once below, the snake would flail down, landing atop its trainer and knocking him to the ground. Oof.[break][break]

Still, it went rather well for improv. Managing to disentangle himself from the creature, he looked around to the dark recesses of the room that the illumina's ambient glow did not reach.[break][break]

"HOWARD?" He called, voice raised.

Adrian had expected more. Withdrawing the pokemon as it descended, he interrupted its next attack, the mercy blow. Howard had already conceded the fight, and Serizawa was in need of gentle care before returning to battle. But Adrian seemed inconsiderate towards this, his scowl refusing to soften even after his victory.[break][break]

Howard struck a nerve. Twice now. Even if their words paint a lofty image of him, they are in their own way crude remarks. Depicting him as something that was wielded, a tool...[break][break]

Stowing away the pokeball, Adrian retrieves his pack with a huff, intending to make headway deeper into the cavern. Hustling past Howard, he is incapable of staying his tongue, and makes a passing remark on the matter of selection...[break][break]

They had spoken of Yveltal's reasons for claiming him, but it is not so exclusive. Team Rocket's own criteria followed similar patterns.[break][break]
