Its undulating figure sprawls out across the sandy shore, slapping its tail against the beach lightly as it is forced to idle there. Snapping his wristband back into place, a resplendent KEYSTONE socketed into its only receptable, Adrian would be ready to make the best of this round.[break][break]

To him, Gyarados emanates POWER by its mere visage. While on the platform, he beats a clenched fist against his chest once, before shifting into something akin to Galar's CHARIZARD POSE, except he raises only a balled fist that he flexes, showing more pronounced muscle definition despite his lean build. Primal energy begins streaking from the gadget on his wrist, tethering with a similar energy spawning from a corresponding stone in Furor's crest.[break][break]

An unnatural glow of reddish magenta builds up with the crest as its epicenter before enveloping the length of its body in the change, swelling its serpentine form and causing magenta arcs of lightning to ripple across its figure. Beige scales harden into stygian bulwarks, and its dorsal fins split and become two-prong, allowing it to cut through waves and put on a prominent threat display.[break][break]

Even Howitzer is left behind to wander, hopefully to single one of them out while Adrian Malcolm & Callan Young do their best to overcome typical performance anxieties and put on a show.[break][break]

Whether it's underneath stage lighting or a sweltering sun, Adrian cannot help but feel the veneer of sweat clinging to him after they've taken the stage. Between Callan, his Toxtricity and Adrian's Rillaboom they are quickly transitioning into the intense pace of LONG NIGHTS IN JAIL.[break][break]

He can feel the heat emanating from above, causing his bangs to fall over his face as they're slicked with sweat, but he ignores it for the sake of adhering to each verse; even a tiny hiccup will cascade into a cacophony of mistakes that will spoil the experience of a live performance.[break][break]

They've worked together cultivating every aspect of this arrangement, and they mean to deliver it properly. Through the upbeat tempo of the percussion and bassist, and the shrill peaks of their lead guitar, they thrust a wave of harmonic felicity through their audience, and Adrian's lyrics are the punctuating presence of rhapsody that brings together the ensemble into one experience.

When he finally gets a moment to breathe, the outcry of people shouting his or Callan Young's name alternatingly begin to pour in. Whether it's simply because they were promised a crown, or it's the supportive (if teasing) gesture of his friends and close relations (DEREK HOFFMAN Martín del Mar), he soaks up the attention, unashamed.

With both of them rushing in at once, they close the gap in the blink of an eye. Kubfu's diminutive form holds itself surreptitiously in its gait, making it uncertain whether it is poised to strike with its legs or its arms; even as their collision is imminent it betrays no bias or lean.

Kubfu holds back from matching their blow, throwing a feint in order to duck around the comparatively sweeping blows of its opponent before retaliating.

Nooks and crannies clinging to rocky outcroppings and the like might be somewhere they went to hide from the more aggressive marine pokemon, so he started checking around those areas. But sticking his arm into an unknown crevice was nightmare fuel, so he likely wasn't as thorough as he could've been when searching them for loose articles.[break][break]

When he feels something for the first time reaching into some unknown void between boulders, he flinches and pulls back at first, before probing the narrow gap again to see what he'd uncovered beneath the coral and granite.[break][break]

It might've been nothing, but he'd have to see it to know.[break][break]

Even if it felt more believable every time he took another shot at the same trick and made a little bit of headway, it all felt like one big joke. Landing a Magikarp Splash only to struggle nailing an easier trick. But it's not like he doesn't have all summer to clean up his act, so he's back to it, arms braced against the Mantine as they fill into the trough of their next wave.[break][break]

The water ejects indiscriminately, like a dog shaking excess water from their fur, though he runs his fingers through the damp mess of a mop, pulling off some semblance of style.[break][break]

Comfey's flowers bloom, flourishing under the conditions of extreme sunlight and the simulated precipitation. Its tropical flora glint with sunlight, giving the impression of a tranquil morning dew. The verdant petals shiver from such opulence, allowing beads of water to run down the length of his torso, coalescing just above the brim of his trunks. Tucking a thumb beneath the fabric he rectifies the mounting discomfort, drawing attention to the dimples on his back, if nothing else. ~~And away from his pruned feet.~~[break][break]

He's somewhere backstage while Melody is performing, trying to make sure their equipment is up to snuff. Rillaboom and Toxtricity are testing the percussion and stereos respectively, while Adrian tries to soothe his nerves by playing with his favorite striped canine. Even from back here, Melody's song inspires vivid imagery of his plight to see Howitzer returned to him hale and whole.[break][break]

Some of it tragically breaks away from the tone he'd struck, jarring him back to reality as readily as Callan Young barging into the room when it's nearly time to take the stage. Well, I guess I can't just sit in here petting Howie all day... Howitzer pulls him out of his slump with a couple boops of that wet snoot that lift his spirits.

With a few minutes to spare until showtime, and the equipment ready, Adrian's free to wander. He's content to casually linger, soaking up the limelight where he can, when he becomes acutely aware of Rowan and his sister's absence. "Howie, see if you can't find them!"[break][break]

Howitzer runs down Rowan Wrynn quickly enough, letting Rowan know he wasn't too far. Serena Malcolm was proving much more difficult to track however.

Howitzer is winded despite her outward stoicism, heaving lungfulls of air to placate the burning in her torso, while Rover teeters around suffering from a dizzy spell. After exerting themselves tirelessly beneath the blaring sunlight, it's only to be expected. He too grabs for their respective pokeballs, digits tapping against the nodules to instigate a similar process. With his pokemon withdrawn, they can rest easy for the moment knowing they performed well.[break][break]

Aside from acknowledging the formalities, all that's left is to get the badge before he can retreat somewhere less brutal on one with his complexion. But first, he's overtaken by a sense of sentimentality over Howitzer's 'first' battle.[break][break]

"I suppose I should thank you," Adrian starts off a little hesitantly, before following through: "It's been... a long time since I got to battle with Howitzer. You gave us something to work together towards. Thanks."[break][break]

There's a lingering grin that seems almost uncharacteristic on someone like Adrian. Maybe a little uncanny, even.[break][break]

It felt like old times. Which all in all, were the only good times they would probably see again. Being able to revisit past milestones was oddly cathartic, considering.[break][break]

Suffering a series of devastating blows, Kubfu is thrown back against the cement, where it receives a harsh roadrash from the brief altercation with Lucario. It swipes its forearm against its muzzle, spitting something out to the side after. It's exactly what Kubfu expected, and yet...

...That feeling a moment ago was euphoric. It relishes that sensation.

Not the bone-rattling strike, but the moment where Lucario was for a moment whelmed. Where Kubfu's might had amounted to more than some meager success, but something profound. Impressive in the face of adversity. Adrian encourages it from the sidelines. Another feeling that it craved.

Mustering its resolve, Kubfu feels itself BULK UP as it tries to grow from their clash, ignoring the biting pain of injury for the fervor of intense battle.

Kubfu manages to evade the attack, but the shards of stone that splinter and scatter in the aftermath would leave welts where they pelted against its side. With a wince Kubfu regains its lost composure, subsequently falling into a headlong rush in order to close the gap between contestants.

It's not ignorant to the challenge fighting toe-to-toe with Lucario poses, but it doesn't stand a chance fighting from afar. Just another daunting realization as it clashes against this quality contender. Flinging itself with a skyward lunge, Kubfu seeks to overwhelm Lucario with a spontaneous fit of its REVENGE.
