Somehow, the buckle on the baby carrier he's holding his GREEN APPLIN with snaps. It breaks free and parts from his chest with a gleeful chirp before landing on the paved SLATEPORT CITY boardwalk below. The suddenness of this event causes Remiel to accidentally spill that bag of popcorn he'd been carrying. But he only spares a moment to apologize to some of the passersby who might have a kernel or two in their hair before chasing after his rambunctious Pokémon partner.

"HERSCHEL! Where exactly are you going?!"

The rolling Applin, however, does not seem to hear him— or, at least, pretends he does not hear as he makes a beeline for the petting zoo nearby. The little girl who had offered him a bite of her candy apple was there. He'd been denied this bite on behalf of his trainer, of course, on the basis that he'd already been given a treat prior. But Herschel had not agreed with this decision.

So, squeezing through the wooden fence with the same tenacity of a LIEPARD searching for its prey, the green Applin inadvertently startles all the WOOLOO, SKIDDO, and LECHONK therein. The petting zoo attendant tries to shoo the Applin away by aggressively flapping his apron, but to no avail. Herschel has already found the little girl and she excitedly bends down to feed him.

The table they had managed to find wasn't all that bad, Remiel supposed. It was smack dab in front of a small performance stage where a local LAVARIDGE magician was starting his show, however. Usually, having something of a front-row seat to such a show (on accident, no less) was a great thing. But the royal had intended to use this time to cover a somewhat sensitive topic with freya morningstar, so it seemed a little too distracting as the magician in question pulled a BUNEARY out of his hat.

Then again, he was about to cover such a topic over a sugar-coated funnel cake with strawberry jam topping that they both shared. The setting, overall, did not align with the subject matter he was about to present. So they would simply have to make do.

With his GREEN APPLIN, HERSCHEL (who'd she'd met prior at his estate and vineyard), strapped to his chest in a baby carrier, Remiel has to carefully reach into his pack before pulling out a small lockbox. And the moment Freya catches sight of it, he knows she realizes what is inside. So he sets it down on the table, instantly drawing the attention of his Applin's cartoonish yellow eyes, before gently sliding it forward to occupy the center of the table beside the funnel cake.

"Though I figured it would be nice to catch up, this is the main reason I called you out here to meet me." The exiled prince admits with a hesitant smile. "I'm sorry I didn't tell you about it sooner. As a matter of fact, it was only smuggled out of SOOTOPOLIS last night." From an old safehouse of his, in fact. And the smuggler in question had nearly been captured and killed by Team Rocket. But she didn't need to know all that.

Remiel has to take a moment to look at himself. Well, the parts that aren't concealed behind a baby carrier and the Applin therein. "What's wrong with how I dress?" He innocently mutters. He's far too wrapped up in that to answer her rhetorical question in earnest.

Given the chaotic driving, however, the royal is surprised she's holding up her end of the conversation so well. At least until she blows up at the carnival attendant for cutting their time short in the bumper car. Feeling strangely responsible for this, despite the fact that they'd been paired together with no input of their own, Remiel unbuckles his seatbelt to stand beside her.

"Apologies if we startled you, but she's correct," The former GALARIAN AMBASSADOR assures the attendant as he removes his cap to better share his identity. It went against his rule for laying low and beneath TEAM ROCKET's radar, but... was such a simple design really doing much anyway? Probably not.

Hushed whispers all around them ensure Remiel that the power of his fame has had the intended effect. Crown Prince of Galar. Zekrom's avatar. Galarian Ambassador. Though each title had brought plenty of trials and tribulations of their own, this was one of the boons that they all shared. And, before long, the attendant agreed to 'give them all another go' so long as there wasn't another outburst from anyone participating.

"Thank you. I sure there won't be." The royal responds, placing his cap back on before taking his seat and buckling in once more. Shifting a somewhat amused look at Vyce, he smiles. "Team Yell? Really? I don't see it in you." The black-haired man teases as the bumper cars suddenly come to life once more.

Remiel smiles, and the for first time in a long time he realizes just how much he's missed his old friend. "I'm not all that surprised that the promise of treasure wasn't the only motivator we needed," He remarks with a laugh as he swings the pickaxe down. After that, and the ruckus caused by his Falinks helping pummel their own crystals, he nods. "Sounds good to me."

As they continue with their effort, however, conversation on Remiel's part seems harder to maintain as he FOCUSES ON MINING within these infectious conditions. Visions of a cosmic sky surround him like a haze. Paranoia and a general feeling of unease begin to occupy his mind. And, when a NAGANADEL swoops in from above to try and strike him with a FELL STINGER, the avatar is forced to pause and swing his pickaxe at it defensively.

The draconic gargoyle backs off long enough for his Falinks to deal with it from there. But Remiel returns his attention to the mining after wiping the sweat off his brow with the back of his hand. "Keep at it, Angelo! We're almost done."

Remiel chuckles and pats his cousin on the shoulder in response. "There's no need to apologize, Elise," He assures her. "And no need for formalities either. Try to relax and enjoy the festival for what it is."

With that said, the royal turns his attention back to the CARAMEL DIPPLIN stick in his other hand. "And of course I'd remember. It was one of the only ways to stop your crying when you were little." He teases, raising the treat sideways to his mouth afterward so he can take a proper crunch out of it.

Upon seeing this, his Archen swiftly glides down from the tent pole above to perch itself atop his shoulder and caw for a bite of its own. He leers at it.

"Not a chance, Albian."

"I used to go there every summer," Remiel answers, directing his Pokémon to different areas with simple hand gestures. "My father is from the TOUSIGNANT clan. We have a rich and long history in the land just north of CAMPHRIER TOWN."

He'd designed his estate north of RUSTBORO after the ROYAL TOUSIGNANT CASTLE and the vineyards it surrounded itself with. But he didn't want to sound boastful. He simply had great enthusiasm for architecture and history. Which was why he had chosen to be an archaeologist, of course.

In the meantime, with his phalanx of Falinks doing much of the mining on their own, Remiel is granted enough time to gaze out at the strange cosmic vista that the chamber provides. He knows this is a side-effect of the hallucinogens filling said chamber, of course. And, when a NIHILEGO seemingly appears out from that cosmic void, he knows it is probably time to take a break from the mining.

With his Falinks setting up a defensive barrier around them and fighting off the Nihilego that drifted too close, the exiled prince pauses to reach into his pack to pull out an insulated thermos flask. After unscrewing its top and separating it into two separate cups, he pours one out for Desiree and hands it over with a smile.

"It's chamomile tea made with BUDEW leaves. It'll help with the anxiety you're feeling while we rest."
