And the nightmares are suddenly over, replaced by a dream. Floating in place before the time dragon, Kaida doesn't recognize it, but she understands well enough. The beams its spewing could easily destroy them, but it was holding them...was it helping? "Thank...thank you...?" She calls out, wincing as a time beam screamed past. [break][break]

Gods were inevitable in Kaida's mind, ironically too simple to have the nilhism necessary for her to hate the being before her. Whatever happened...happened. She lived in a world where she was alive against all odds, her family was alive, and she had a growing family in the Rangers in need of protection...plus the cities, she reminded herself, nothing in her home deserved to be terrorized, she'd make sure of it. [break][break]

Speaking of the Rangers, she really needed to remember this dream. Nilhego, a New Year Party, even Regirock...and now this time dragon, she needed somebody to report this too. She wondered if Laurence Anderson would believe her of all this...he already saw her live and die in reports...this couldn't be that strange, now could it? With that thought, the dragon jerked its head at her, sending her home in a whirl of time. [break][break]

Her strange dream was over.

The food giver (Stormy Silph), was thankfully fast. Good. She was good at her job. And now that she had gotten her food she was feeling a little...hesitant. Was that mayo? With a deep breath, she took a bite, and was relieved to find it full of flavor and crunch. Thank Arceus, it seemed she needed this. [break][break]

Halfway through the cheese dream, she looked up with a small order on her tongue, "Anoth-" and the woman was gone, dragging another man towards a strong-arm contest. Now that couldn't do. "Ormr. Eat." She handed the serpent her food, who gave a cautious sniff before swallowing it whole. She didn't much like giving such different food to her Pokemon, but he neededall his energy too, right? [break][break]

She followed doggedly, hovering by the contraption for the longest time as she watched the bell ring or almost be rung...so a test of strength then? She puffed out a breath of laughter, maybe it was the cheese dream talking,, but she had all the confidence as she spoke up, "Let me." and swung the hammer...totally caught up in the feeling of "proving" something. Inevitably, hunger started to claw at Kaida's stomach. With a cursory glance around, Kaida left her self-decided "post", already hunting for her next meal...and she smelled, something strange. Up on her shoulders, Ormr recoiled, tail rattling briefly at the incredibly different smell. Was that food? [break][break]

Alas, it was overwhelming, and a smell she couldn't ignore. Her hunt shifted to this elusive "cheese dream", she noted as somebody vocalized the name. What a strange name. [break][break]

With no regard to the woman (Stormy Silph) talking to other people (@other cheese dreamers), she marched right up. It didn't matter much to her, faces that blurred together in her memory with no names, she had to eat so that she could get back to work. "Hey. I...I want one of the "cheese dreams"." She nearly barked over the festival din, clearly having no idea who anybody was besides "food-giver".

Of course before a happy day such as this, danger had reared its ugly head. She hadn't been watching the broadcast when it happened, but she'd be a fool not to know about a new danger. Rocket had come back...how discouraging, and yet a wave of ugly satisfaction coiled in her chest. She knew it, she just knew there was something in this region that was dangerous. At the very least, she knew she'd fight them. There was no way she could ever find common grounds with people who caused strife, they could destroy ecosystems and Pokemon if they started a fight. [break][break]

Nonetheless, she was a guard to a supposedly peaceful festival, decked out in a kimono and an Ekans around her neck...and a comforting warmth behind her.

A ghostly shrine to those that died...to ancestors. She had none. Obviously, she had parents, she wasn't stupid, but anything about them eluded her. Perhaps she was born to Pokemon, amusement bubbled in her eyes, like some part-Zoroark monster, that could explain many things! [break][break]

In her depressing amusement, she waved fondly at a passing Duskull, wandering like a lost child.

Kaida didn't much consider Legendaries on the idea of them interfering with humans before, but she did nod to herself as he brought up the idea of Legendaries in history. It just made sense, though she added her own words to it, "Had? Isn't it "have"? They're still playing a part." Even her, who barely tried to keep up with the various League politics, knew they were still interfering. [break][break]

As Zlato sat upon the shrine, she reluctantly waved in an attempt at returned friendliness as her Ekans refused to return the favor. "I've seen them still interfering...they are very varied." From Fernando's stoic partner to Kyogre's attack during the war...her own revival...she thought she had encountered gods way too many times, got lucky too many times. "Did you ever see them? They make themselves more visible now."

"Yes, we protect other Pokemon...fight dangers." She opened her mouth to mention the war against the Ultra Beasts and aliens, but shook her head and went silent. No reason a civilian had to know about that. [break][break]

She grunted, nodding towards "Lex", "Then I think you will be fine...I can do neither planning or organizing, but I'm here, and I'm good." She pointed towards herself with the rather self-deprecating comment. She was good with protecting others and acting fast...she couldn't be so foolish as to think that she was any good in long-term planning. [break][break]

Up ahead, Jotun was getting far ahead, and Kaida started to jog to keep up, "We have to finish this job first, and then you can get a job you like...let's go." Was that her being encouraging? Maybe, though she was already ahead to finish the job.

Unfortunately for the serpent, his agitation manifested as a rattling tail, which would probably only attract the Ultra Beast closer, all things considered. [break][break]

"A little...it's natural to bow your head to someone above you, right? They're powerful, so its only natural to respect them." She answered the inquiry calmly, drawing closer to the shrine as well. "Unfortunately, no. I don't know many one's names." About the only she knew for a fact was Arceus, and less out of true knowledge and more out of the fact it was such a common name. [break][break]

"Do you have any you respect?" Curiosity tinged her voice. Given her only conversation about a shrine had been the clinical and suspicious conversation she had with Fernando, this was a welcome conversation.

"We're Rangers." Kaida started to explain, slight smile evolving on her face before she wrenched it away, "It's the only job I ever wanted, so I got it." Elements of pride creeped into her voice, the woman clearly thought it was nothing but her own merit that got the job, and she intended to be nothing but the best. [break][break]

"Hmm." Kaida listened silently, eyes slightly narrowed. She knew little about the feeling of catering to others, she herself felt like she was under a good leader, but she could understand a plight of not having a home at the moment. "Anything you are good at?" She finally asked. Perhaps it was naïve to immediately try and get a "perfect" job, but Kaida didn't much care on whether it was possible to find a job for this woman, she'd still try.

She didn't tell Ormr to stop, the serpent's fear was genuine, and she knew he wouldn't actually attack the Poipole unless ordered or if she was in true danger. Instead, she directed her words at the Poipole, Zlato, "Apologies. Ormr doesn't like most Pokemon getting close to me." Hopefully the young Ultra Beast understood, and learned. [break][break]

She responded to Remiel's own sincere gesture with her own, a bow that came as easily as a trained movement, "Yes, a Ranger, at your service...I'm Kaida Adachi." As she was on a job, she introduced herself more properly, ignoring a lingering thought that she was pretty sure she was talking to someone important. The name was vaguely familiar, and he had a Poipole..."We're just checking for...anything." She admitted, straightening back out and nodding to the shrine, "We just got curious, its good to pray at a shrine."
