Even staying invisible, Kaida still was a Ranger. She was always going to try in a mission, and this mission was no exception. Maybe her own refusal to show herself let her take this mission, she was already close enough to try this. Hel darted down the streets, leaping on higher ground that Kaida couldn't find. Given everything, she found that the Grovyle was her likely best choice. Hel was fast, and would lead Kaida to any humans or mass of Pokemon. [break][break]

Scrambling up a roof, Hel suddenly freezes, sniffing the air cautiously. That was it, something was near. Kaida raised her hands, Stay there. A false enemy or not, Kaida crept nearer, gripping a Pokeball as she stayed near the shadows, eyes narrowed as she watched for whoever was near.

Another blast of sound, loud enough to rattle Kaida's bones, shuddered throughout the arena, shaking everything. Glima reared back, now starting to look worse for wear as she wobbled, and sprang at the other poison-type. [break][break]

The fighting-type launched the first physical attack of the fight, a swinging fist of Revenge, powered up by both her own typing and the damage she just took.

Kaida shook as she entered the next floor, shaking off the effects of the coldness. Seeing water didn't exactly help, but she didn't raise any sort of fuss. [break][break]

Kaida had the correct Pokemon on hand, a Huntail that didn't find much use, if only because she didn't find herself in water much. "Corpus! Hit the one underwater!" The deep-sea predator splashed into the water and promptly spun in place, sending a Whirlpool that would ravage its prey even when it dove low.

The sound roared at Glima, the force of it pushing her towards the edge of the ring, where she promptly sprang up and perched on the ropes. She smiled and puffed out her cheeks, a good bluff, Kaida supposed. The attack had to hurt, but you'd never know from Glima's attitude. Then, her next move happened as a shrieking laugh. Swagger? Kaida understood at this point. Make her opponent look the fool with a well-placed Swagger, and have a Taunt out to keep the opponent attacking her for both a counter and damage. Clever creature. [break][break]

Her irritating laugh ringing in the audience's ears, Glima sprang into the middle of the arena, unable to stop her snickering as she presented herself for a confusion-fueled attack.

"I'm Kaida, hello Cap." Kaida greeted in a manner that could be looked at as friendly, if a little distant. She said nothing of the indignity of holding onto a Scyther's legs, whatever it took to pass the test, right? [break][break]

The Sheer Cold test gave her only a moment's preparation, and she hissed out a breath as she released Kjoll, the Onix instinctively getting in front of the horribly cold air. She only hoped he wasn't upset about this attack. The Sheer Cold slammed hard into the Onix, freezing over his stone body, but he was Sturdy, it would take more than that to take him out. The Onix painfully rose up, cold air hissing from between his maw. The Onix had some pride, and rumbled at Kaida, almost like laughter, and puffed a brief Dragon Breath at the Lapras, as if to prove his own survival. [break][break]

Kaida patted the Onix on the tail, struggling not to flinch even at the terrible cold. Kjoll was always reliable, and he served a rest as soon as they left.

Kaida was only just close enough to be identified as Glima's trainer, "She's talking to you, Glima." She smiled, more than aware of the Croagunk's own desire for fame. Even against another poison-type, she didn't doubt Glima's skills, "Give them a show!" Judging by her reaction to the Toxicitry, hopping up and down with roaring laughter, she was unintimidated by the larger Pokemon. [break][break]

When the Toxicitry entered the arena, Glima started the show, kneeling on one knee as she beckoned the other Pokemon. A Taunt, confidently starting the battle. [break][break]

Kaida watched from her perch, eyes planning on following the movements. Glima was always a strange Pokemon, she had better have a plan for this, she considered bluntly.

Kaida didn't know why she always found herself at entertainment events like this, but here she was. Maybe it was because these were harmless affairs, no danger, all types of training. A ring was set up, looking like a traditional wrestling ring. The hiding smelled like rust, it was old, but all sorts of young people gathered around. With all the excitement, and the fact Kaida didn't stand near the ring, she was sure that even if they won, all these people would remember is that she was a white-haired woman. [break][break]

Glima hopped into the ring to the roar of the crowd, the trademark giggle of a Croagunk only raising the excitement level. She was a Pokemon of childish and glorious intentions. Kaida had no doubt she'd put on a show worthy of a reward. [break][break]

She looked at the other end of the ring, the spotlights revealing their opponent.

As the Lucario headed deeper into the home, likely to find the master of this place, Svart blindly stompted forward and was...stopped? A hand upon her back attempted to turn the Durant around, Kaida finding it harder to read the bug-type's expression than even a serpent, but Svart seemed patient enough while she and the human figured out what the other wanted. "We will eat later, I promise you." Kaida hissed at Svart, who finally relented and allowed Kaida to turn her away. [break][break]

Kaida looked up as a stranger, no, Lars, walked in. To her irritation, he looked different, but the voice was still recognizable. "Yes, this is Svart...she's new, I think she still thinks we have to eat constantly to survive." Safety and stability weren't exactly the definitions of a Durant's life. She was already an oddity that barely qualified for Kaida to use in her group, she was still hard to read for Kaida. "Svart, let's rest." [break][break]

Thank goodness, the steel bug did not take that as an invitation to jump on the couch. She clattered over, stopped, and abruptly laid down. Moving to sit at the couch, Kaida observed her surroundings, "Were you...busy?" She let Ormr off to sit beside her, he was possibly the cleanest of the trio, "I just wanted to visit, nothing important right now."

It looked like the Charizards were participating in less of a training and more of a friendship bonding flight. Indeed, it was cute, and Kaida couldn't care less. Kittens pounced on yarn to train their own instincts and muscles. Evolution usually created an image of a more mature Pokemon, but they still did stuff like this, and so Kaida felt no cause for alarm. Whatever they were playing, it was fine. [break][break]

A curious question came from Illeana, one that Kaida hadn't ever heard before. Her eyes widened, and she answered an answer she was certain had no place except in this conversation, "Yes. Kind is to be considerate. I am only to family." It was only luck that "family" encompassed all Pokemon and some rare humans. She simply needed to do what she and those she cared about needed to survive, that could be called lots of things, but not kind, she thought. Perhaps Pokemon and humans were bonded together by some invisible string as well, pulling towards a species that found worse ways to harm them. She only hoped this strange connection between her and Illeana was more fruitful. "I guess I need to protect them, then." With her utterly useless hands, she couldn't do much, a fact she despised, but it was her duty as leader to try. She'd died once already, it couldn't get worse than that, right? [break][break]

Kaida knew little about determining variables and determining another's thoughts. She could only adapt, being careful of those with overcomplicated words, of those that harmed for no discernable reason. Instead of thinking it over forever, she deigned to move faster, more deadly, adapt to whatever came their way. This too, was the duty of the leader. [break][break]

"Stronger." Kaida's heart lay open, guarded by bones but fully visible to all, "It would be nice, if we could breath fire or sprout claws, then I would really be stronger." She peered briefly into Illeana's own heart, a clumsy attempt, never quite able to read expressions in the way she somewhat sensed she should have been able to. "Do you want a way to get stronger? Ah, no, do you have a way to get stronger?" She didn't live the way Kaida did, so she could only conclude she had a training of some kind in mind, "I can't join you on getting stronger, not the same way, anyway." Training strategy until her Pokemon would always go for the same strike never was really an option for her. She and her Pokemon just needed to get individually stronger, her eyes and quick thinking needed to get faster. "I won't be weak either, too...too much happened for me to let it go the same way. I can't die." Death was not going to be the end of her a second time.
