Thea's hand rests on her chest as if attempting to still her rapidly beating heart. She exhales, breath trembling, as Dae exclaims how close he had come to death. For almost being shark bait, he seemed a lot less rattled than she was.[break][break]

More so now that the boy's Beartic launches the Sharpdeo at her on the docks. She side-steps before Dae can suggest she jump down. Her expression indicates her mistake as her foot steps off the edge and she loses her balance.[break][break]

The woman lands with a splash.

There's a bubbling beneath the surface that Thea mistakes for her own Pokemon. They're tricky bastards and she assumes they're playing tricks. It is not a trick, there is an actual Sharpedo swimming back and forth beneath Dae. The swimsuit he's wearing must be... tantalizing.[break][break]

Alethea's eyes widen in horror as she stands upright, the severity of the situation stealing her voice.[break][break]

It appears that the fishermen have taken notice and they are the ones able to shout at the boy to get up and out of the water. One of them even launches forward, exasperated and concerned that this kid was about to get eaten.[break][break]

"Get out of my face! I mean your face -- I mean, the water!"[break][break]

Her hands reaches for him, then, just as her three Dreepy burst out of the water next to Dae. The Sharpedo is hot on their trail, leaping from the depths to try and snatch them up. Fortunately, the one the wild Pokemon does catch phases through his mouth, unharmed.

Thea shrugs. She's a battle teacher for children - not a fishermen. The most she knew about fish was what type of poison some of them carried, and chances were she might not even remember that.[break][break]

"Perhaps just misinformed."[break][break]

She corrects his assumption that they are 'dumb' with a passive side-eye. Her index finger taps the cover of her book to something off-beat as she studies the boy.[break][break]

As he swims closer to her, the woman shifts, tucking her skirt in closer so that he might not drip on it.[break][break]

He motions to the book in her arms and she blinks, moving it so that he might be able to see it better.[break][break]

"'Predatory Fish Hunting Patterns'," she answers, violet gaze flitting back to his for a moment. "No, it's very informative about what types of fish the big ones eat, though."

A voice jogs her from her idle reading, the scratching of her pen slows to a halt as she looks up and glances around. The crease between her brows is the clear tell of her bewilderment. The voice she heard was not the same gutteral, rugged tones of the fisherman - who were still bickering. She was almost certain-- ah.[break][break]

The woman settles on a young man waving, and, while his outward expression is friendly, the words he uses are not. She frowns at his language, unsure what to make of the situation.[break][break]

"Maybe they're out of season."[break][break]

One of the men give her a look and she can't tell if he's outraged by her blatantly wrong comment, or amused. It looks a mix of both. She's being funny - sort of - in her blunt, not-so-charming way. However her attention returns to the boy and she sets her pen down.[break][break]

"Not that I know of, I think they've been having bad luck, too."

Thea has made fast friends with a group of ornery old fishermen. While they benefit from the company of a beautiful woman, she is granted peace and quiet. Only the occasional gruff verbal cue is passed between the men and she is left to her devices. She had only stumbled upon this fishing dock because she had sat on someone's own personal bench. It had seemed out of place when she'd found it, and it was because one of the man had literally carried it out to sit on.[break][break]

Odd, right?[break][break]

And so she'd made herself comfortable, happy to read next to the water. After a misunderstanding and many apologies, the man had taken off their hats and apologized to her for their rudeness and insisted she stay. She was quiet and polite and without bother, so she melted into the background to continue her studies. She scribbles notes in her journal on occasion, sticky-noting important areas in the book.[break][break]

This continues for some time, until the men begin to curse and argue. Apparently one had caught the other's boot for the third time that morning and were outraged that there were no Pokemon to catch. They insisted it was unlike them, for there to be no fish, not even a Magikarp.[break][break]

As it turns out, Thea's Dreepy had gotten out of hand and were having quite the time chasing the fishermen's fish away. She was none-the-wiser, of course, but that was the truth of it. The Dreepy had all but scared off the majority of the fish. Or at least, they were part of the problem.

Her class is let go early, allowing her free time to spend by the water. She had intended to be uninvolved - at the time, there had been nothing to involve herself in. When she sat on a makeshift stone ledge, back propped up against her jacket to read a book, she had been alone.[break][break]

Now however, it appeared that she was very far from it. [break][break]

Several hundred pink, paranoid Pokemon burst from the edge of the shore. They seem to detach themselves from underneath the rocky ledge, previously hidden from sight. The Corsola in question are agitated and afraid, apparently disturbed by some predator that lurked beneath the surface.[break][break]

Thea sets aside her studies, leaving the page open to the chapter on poison effects, when it becomes apparent that she might very well be the only one around to rectify the situation. From her understanding, the Corsola were in danger. It didn't really occur to her that this wasn't at all her place to intervene. Nature taking it's course and all that.[break][break]

But she hikes up her skirts and rolls up her sleeves, leaning down to rescue whatever Corsola were close enough for her to reach. Once one or two were at her hip, she released her Pumpkaboo. There was definitely something under the water ruffling feathers. Purple liquid rose to the surface and she was careful not to touch it.[break][break]

"Just.. hold on guys.. I'm trying, I'm trying."

Not even prim and proper Thea can disguise the blush that burns her cheeks at his compliment. She tugs awkwardly at the simple shirt she's wearing, as if surprised he would even say such a thing. She does not, however protest, as that would be rude.[break][break]

Instead, she is happy to follow him out of the spa. Now that the sun was beginning to go down, so was the mugginess. It was cooler by a significant margin, a welcome sight for Lavaridge.[break][break]

"It's fulfilling. I get to shape their careers as they grow up."[break][break]

She smiles, offering a slight tilt of her head. But her attention is soon captured by the dancing and general upbeat atmosphere of the restaurant they had picked. Her eyes widen in surprise, enamored with the sights even while they are escorted to their table. When she looks back to Oscar, she's still smiling.[break][break]

"Are you from Alola?"[break][break]

Now that she thinks about it, she isn't sure she could have guessed that. Perhaps she had lived in Galar for too long, she used to be able to pick out anyone in a crowd in the bustling region of Unova. Tourism was popular there, people from all over the world visited. She ponders this thoughtfully, but in turn it looks more like she's staring at him.

Oscar had asked her to join him and a few of his friends for one of the Pokeathlon events. It was a race, apparently, and despite her general disinterest in participating in sports-oriented events, she had agreed because he seemed excited. That, and she had recently acquired a Scorbunny with too much energy to handle - this would be the perfect activity for her to burn off some energy.[break][break]

What Thea wasn't expecting, however, was for Oscar's friends to be Marcel and the boy, Conrad. She offers the two a polite nod, of course, but otherwise doesn't say anything further. She instead focuses on her own Pokemon who is busy stretching out her legs. The tidbit of information requiring Thea to race alongside her Pokemon comes a little late, and she's being shouted at to run as soon as the gun is fired to start the race.[break][break]

Scorbunny launches forward with an AGILTIY, long and yet tiny little rabbit legs kicking up dust in her wake. Thea is thankful, at least, that she isn't wearing a dress as she hurries after the energetic Pokemon. However, both she and the rabbit seem to be moving just a bit faster thanks to the Xatu's TAILWIND[break][break]

Thea arrives with just a few minutes to spare. She seems just a little bit out of breath because she'd miscalculated how long it would take her to get to the restaurant from her hotel. Apparently getting a taxi was too much to ask around here.[break][break]

Just walk, they said. As if walking was something normal people did in this sort of heat.[break][break]

But she's otherwise still well put together when she shows, tucking and retucking a stubborn strand of hair behind her ear. The woman appears bright and lively, eager for their date, meeting, whatever you wanted to call it.[break][break]

And, as she nears, she finds and waves to Oscar immediately, a polite smile gracing her lips.[break][break]

"Oscar! I'm sorry if I'm late."

SUMMER SURPRISES: BEACH PARTY

Thea's smile is warm as she reunites with oscar clayton. She can't help but look past him to the magnificent sand castle he's built. It quite honestly looked like a beautifully constructed seashore house.[break][break]

But he's quickly approaching her with the intent to take the drink she'd brought. He brushes past her as well with a promise to return and she chuckles, dipping her head in acknowledgement.[break][break]

"Nothing will be amiss when you come back, you have my word."[break][break]

With a wink that he may or may not have seen, Thea glances back to see that Ruby has said her temporary goodbyes as well. It seems everyone is interested in pursuing the limbo. She herself had not been confident in her abilities and had passed on the opportunity. [break][break]

She offers the girl a wave following the gentle squeeze of her hand before making herself comfortable on the blanket under the umbrella.
