Upon his request, or perhaps complaint, the girl explained the curse even further. It was a setback that pained only two of the three visited peoples from the Lake Trio if he was understanding correctly. Still, there were interesting hoops to jump through. Hideo seemed to echo his frustration, though these became irrelevant in the face of Eris'revelation.

When Epitaph pointed out the bookcase a look of exhaustion and digust tugged at the trainer's features. A secret bookcase? What a tired trope. It was so boring that it was completely unexpected. Even Hideo mentioned that it was in all the movies and stories that featured a mystery in a mansion, though he seemed far more excited than his host.

''A hidden room behind the bookcase? Really?'' He could only emote with his one good arm. The younger boy was bounding along their adventure on the other hand, ordering the beheeyem to practically rend the bookcase aside. ''Wait, what if it's-'' But it was too late. The tome repository shuddered and creaked but didn't budge.

''Gengar...'' Epitaph shot an annoyed look over his bulbous shoulder at the blind boy rather than his pokemon. It wasn't its fault after all. Still, the ghost's red eyes shifted to him. ''Gengar. Gen. Gengar.'' The occular daggers swiveled back towards the bookcase. ''Gengar...'' Puzzlement fused with his irritation.

Just as every night thus far, the haunted horses paid a visit to the Blackadder camp once again. This time however they were plauged by pests of the poltergeists. Being a ghost specialist, it puzzled Andy. Never had he seen spectres tangled so. Perhaps it was an affliction unique to these steeds. It was telling that they had come here.

''They're here for us to help. That's got to be a good sign. Most creatures will hide when something is wrong.'' Hideo was of course quick to offer the perturbed ponies aid. It was convenient that the boy possessed just the right pokemon. The Galarian was starting to wonder if he even believed in coincidences anymore.

''Husk, get out here.'' At his friend's request, Andy had just the thing. Creepily quiet, the shedinja floated out from the ghost sanctuary like unfeeling shell. Mostly because it was. It had been a while since Doug had made an appearance out of uniform. Surely that only lended to the casual nature of his visit. Despite the smile, it looked a bit like the older trainer had seen a ghost. It was partly fitting given Andy's own specialty of choice. His words cemented it, as if he thought the Galarian was dead.

The idea of a portrait was unappealing. While the memory of his last had been lost to time, his siblings often complained about the process. It required a lot of standing around while the painter did their work. It was considered cheap and inauthentic to get a picture taken and have a rendition created from that.

''Only if the rest of you lot are included.'' The idea was to provide an impossible standard to agree to so his half of the bargain would never need to be upheld. Andy was surprised at Hideo's surprise in turn. Were basements so common a thing in this region? ''Well, I've never seen one in here,'' he explained.

His friend's alien pokemon seemed to be doing some level of translation for his own gengar. Andy partly wondered why whatever trick was being pulled wasn't being shared with him too. Perhaps it had something to do with their bond. The fact that he needed to rely on a go between bothered him however. Yet he was in little position to complain.

''If he's saying we should follow him, we should follow him, I guess.'' While he thought Epitaph would have assisted his descent, the pokemon was preoccupied with his crusade. Less than enthused about being manhandled, or well, beheeyem handled, they still slogged their way to the bottom where the gengar was impatiently waiting.

''Gengar.'' He bid them continue with a wave of his hand once again. Andy's suspicions spiked as they were led down a hall by the kitchen. His face crumpled and he almost spoke up before Epitaph passed it by and led them to a small study, clean and well organized despite its disuse. ''Gengar.'' One of the three fingers pointed toward a bookcase on the innermost wall.

Eris explained the interesting mechanics of the security the Lake Trio had put in place to keep most involved's mouths shut. But then that didn't seem to effect him and his own prophecy. At least, not that he recalled. Perhaps that was part of it... Frowning, there was already so little he trusted. Could he not trust his own thoughts either?

And then still, Eris inquired about his own encounter, something Andy wasn't inclined to share at first. His sigh sounded almost like a growl.

''There's something really destructive coming to Hoenn. It almost wiped out Galar thousands and years ago and it's coming back. Now, it's not that I don't think we can beat it. The duskull and the pumpkaboo looked at each other, the former more uncertain of the proposition. Then latter just crossed its arms across its gourd physiology in the best 'humph' the pokemon could muster, as if it didn't want to go with the stupid humans anyway. Andy was distracted by the trevenant's gift however.

The ghost type floated from the floor and down the hall, beconing the rest of those present in case the beheeyem failed him again. With a sigh, the wheelchair wirred to life.

''What are you on about?'' A long time companion, Andy could tell his pokemon was upset. It just seemed to come out of nowhere. Was it some misadventure to the pantry to gorge himself to Reginald's dismay again? Either way the journey ended abruptly the they reached the staircase. Epitaph had almost hovered down all the way to the bottom before he realized he wasn't being followed.

Andy had benevolent motives? At any rate, the steeds next appearance began in a more distant fashion. It was a shame neither had more seeds to plant for Hideo's zarude to fertilize... or whatever it did. Then again, their offering of your typical berry had sated their appetites in their previous encounter. Perhaps that was the reason for their hesitation.

Surprisingly, and yet also unsurprisingly, the other trainer's ambipom brazenly approached their visitors. Outside of a brief warning, it was allowed to venture forward to stroke one of them. This didn't elicit a violent reaction, and while that would have been amusing, it would have been a shame for the two to be warded away.

''Boo Bag,'' Andy called into the mist obscured camp. For a moment only silence greeted him. Just as another summon was about to be made... ''Mimikyu?'' A shape that resembled the pokemon's namesake appeared from the fog, black eyes peering up at the boy. ''See the ambipom? Help ensure our guests feel welcome.''

''Kyu?'' But no answer came for its concern. And so the mimikyu wandered close to the unattended horse to tentatively, but gently, stroke its mane with its own shadow claw. ''Mimikyu? Mimi?'' Questions were applied to the creature, but it was unlikely any answers came, just as before. ''I guess they don't have anyone to pet them.''

Only Hideo returned his greeting, but everyone was busy chatting. A fact that made it a little awkward for him to just wade in, as strange as it might seem from Andy Blackadder. Many of the others present were also people he had encountered from around the region. Not all such meetings were fond.

Spotting Rowan Wrynn, the notion to go and say hello popped into his head. They hadn't touched base since the hospital, and Hideo Kino was distracted by treats. Before a step could be taken however, a Scoutmaster apparently named Aster introduced himself. The proposition of a summer camp was delivered.

''That depends entirely on the rest of the information you're about to give me.'' Aster surely had more to the pitch than just the confirmation that a program existed. However he changed gears instead. Andy blinked. Apples were what it was all about it seemed, but the Galarian had never been a fruits and vegetables kind of kid.

Surely that was completely atypical.

His leg made wandering around for a scavenger hunt a fairly unattractive proposition. A disability that was likey to hamper any summer camp asperations as well, even if the Scoutmaster had made a solid pitch. And so he wandered towards Rowan Wrynn and Adrian Malcolm to entertain himself as the rest of his more familiar compatriots had, his pokemon accompanying him.

The winter season had little effect on the finely maintained shrubs and flowers surrounding the estate. Afternoon sun reflected off walls of white granite, the wrought iron gate ajar to allow the house's matriarch to return at her leisure. Within, beyond even more fine flora that bordered the drive and walkways stood a gorgeous two story house.

Large windows allowed light in, balconies topped the veranda that wrapped around its structure, and the dark teak doors locked away the wonders of the interior from the outside world. Should someone grasp the gilded knockers and rap upon them, they would slowly creak ajar to reveal a ribombee.

''Ribombee. Bom.'' The bowtie wearing bee held one of the double doors wide to allow the visitor inside. Typically there were few visitors for the young master of the house, but as of late it seemed there were a rash of them. While the boy had been injured it was understandable to see so many well wishers.

He was well on the mend now, however.

''Bombee?'' The butler offered to take any burdensome garments the young man didn't feel the need for indoors, and if provided with something it would be hung upon the coat rack beside the door. ''Ribombee.'' Asked to wait there, and illustrated with a simple wait gesture the little pokemon buzzed off to fetch the man of the house.

''Yo.'' Andy appeared at the top of a grand double staircase a few moments later, portrait of some dead relative behind him on the wall. The youth's casual clothing clashed with the elaborate surroundings. Amused, the Galarian leaned on the polished wood railing with his cane-absent arm. ''Is this the first time you've been to my aunt's place?''

His presence had been insisted on by John Sullivan . Camping, real camping, had never been something that tickled his fancy. His own 'camp' on Mt. Pyre was a testament enough to that. And Fortree hadn't been visited since his tussle with Team Rocket and some of it had been set on fire.

He had been meaning to stop in for some more krabby rangoon however.

The shadows tucked away from the sun and fire's glow shimmered before the Galarian stepped out into the arboreal environs. There were already several trainers enjoying the experience, including more than a few familiar faces. Andy and his entourage approached. His duskull had powered their trip, along with Epitaph, his trademark white gengar, and an unfamiliar yamask.

''Yo,'' he greeted John Sullivan , Eris Halla , and Hideo Kino . Doug was harassing the other two children in his typical manner. A satchel under his non-cane-equipped arm held his few 'camping' supplies. These were things he had bought mostly just before he had slipped into phantom force to depart for his camping experience.

''Mask? Yamask.'' The pokemon waved its little appendages before contributing his own will-o'-the-wisp to the fire. ''Nice hustle, Bogart.'' Unlike his Uncle, this yamask was Galarian and eager to adventure. Perhaps being so far from home made Hoenn less of a bore, as compared to his relative.
