CONTRARY TO ITS NAME, THE MAJORITY OF THE ULTRA DEEP SEA IS A VAST CAVE-LIKE WORLD. Shafts of light from an unknown source barely penetrate the dark, causing colorful diamond-like rocks to glisten against humid walls. The dim lighting makes the place seem like you're thousands of leagues under the sea... Eerily, an unceasing pulse can be heard like a heart beat that rumbles throughout the realm.[break][break]

Oddly enough, one is able to "swim" through this realm like Water-type Pokemon floating in air.[break][break]

One may stumble upon deep, cold pools of dark water and alien seaweed as they scout out the realm. Segments of this place open up into an astral sea, where islands of mysterious stone are suspended mid-air.

Mint nodded, the strange itching returning as he reentered Ultra Deep Sea. Strange textures rise on his arm, like sea anemones moving with the current. Octopus suckers begin to bloom on his check as he shudders, irritated. [break][break]

The world is littered with plants now. Blasting bright light and shutting off in response to their movements. It's a little irritating and it hurts the eyes, but on the other hand. Nothing could approach them without setting off the little plants as well. [break][break]

"You think any of this stuff could survive outside of the rift?" he wondered, not quite grasping the potential effects to the local environment something as alien as these would have. "Maybe if a pokemon ate one, they'd develop Illumina." He floats after Gabe, prodding him as they move. "What's your goal today councilman?" he asked lightly. [break][break]

The plantlife in the Ultra Deep Sea had belatedly caught Elisabeth's attention during her last foray this far into the rift. Previous encounters with Nihilego had left her wary; she had chosen to be the lead of a group of Rocket grunts, setting up a garden to farm the odd bioluminescent plants in the region.[break][break]

At present, however, she was alone and unmasked. The distant sound of voices caught her attention and she stood up, wondering at who might have wandered this far undersea.[break][break]

Depending on who it was, her demeanor would shift dramatically.

while GABRIEL BLACK is right, she still lingers to indulge in the questions mint frost and ollie morales ask.

"i don't believe they could, but we could try bringing a sample back to test that theory if you'd like."

she is, after all, curious if this bioluminescent species is native strictly to this realm or not. so far, however, she has yet to see anything quite like it.

and as her focus redirects back onto ollie morales, she gasps as he slips down into the trench. her body moves quickly to follow after him, a panicked look in her eyes. she doesn't notice the thousands of pairs of eyes on her just yet but something about the sensation they bring makes her skin want to crawl off bone.

"you okay?"

it escapes a moment before she notices the eyes.

a sharper gasp follows.

and then... a shrill, agonized scream.

she sees a water saw come hurtling out of the depths of the trench. it moves too fast to escape, to stop, to avoid... and it slices right through her torso.

a gagging noise rises and she swears she's choking on the wound's aftermath. blood, metallic and warm, clogs up her throat. her hands scramble to find the wound, to cover it and apply pressure but it's too big to stop. a diagonal strike across her body, in the opposite manner that the one on her back tells a story of: shoulder to hip, jagged and deadly and quickly separating from the rest of her body.

"ollie morales! help! please, i --"

it doesn't register yet that it's not real. panic and phantom pain override the senses, dulling logic into an early death.

He'd somehow gotten attached to League VIPS through his chance encounter with ollie morales who he liked well enough. Though, nowadays, he seemed to at least try to be a little more attention to the Ranger Captain. Like now- when he's startled by something in the water. He turned but- it's just- he blinked, large pale green eyes before wondering if anyone else had seen. [break][break]

Like the others, he felt the eyes on him but his are locked with Elisabeth Fiorelli . He feigns ignorant, about to pass her off as a hallucination like the dozens of green and yellow eyes glowing just out of sight in his periphery. "Hey, you ok? Or- it that another Megapolan Corpse puppeteered by those weird jellyfish?" he doesn't point her out. He doesn't have time to. At least GABRIEL BLACK knows her. [break][break]

"illeana reyes -!" he turned hearing horrible gasping, and the sounds of her choking, gurgling but its not- it's not that. He doesn't need the Councilman to tell him, Mint is already moving. One arm holding Illie firmly the other going to soother back as he tried to get her to snap out of it. He lets out a pokemon to help her move downwards. Zabaglione erupts letting out a bark and Mint is quick to push the soft raccoon dog into the scientists arms as he drags her to seated on rock. "It's ok! You're ok!" Mint repeated before turning his attention to Ollie and going after him. "How are you falling in almost zero gs?" he hissed to himself as he dove down. [break][break]

Because he isn't. Without warning, his own foot gets wrapped by something and he'd dragged down with a small yelp into the depths. He's about to shout up a warning to the trio above but he feels something stab into him and its cold, like any other injection. He spasms once, tensing up and wheezing as he's slammed into the side of the rock and poisoned. The Jellyfish dragging him down bringing him somewhere. He only hopes it's with Ollie.

and in her panic, she clings to the comfort he offers... though it seems short lived.

her chest heaves and she blindly feels around her torso, hands trembling. she can't tell what's missing, what's bleeding, what's wrong. it's all a jumble of reality and nightmares colliding.

ollie morales comes next, warm hands clamping down onto her arms. she gasps, tears springing into existence and quickly overflowing over water lines.

"i -- my chest... is it whole? i -- am i bleeding?"

the scatter bang sounds off, then, and she shrieks. her body scrambles toward ollie morales, knocking him around in the process. it leaves them both prey to the jellyfish below...

she feels a tentacle wrap around her ankle, tugging and digging into skin. a sharp hiss of pain follows and she kicks for freedom. her movements become frantic for a few moments before they grow sluggish, as if weighed down by something. black veins begin to rise on her ankles and slowly, painstakingly, rise up her legs.

The Drednaw appears and manages to slice off the tentacle dragging him down. He'd thank Lobster if he wants busy gasping as the poison spread quickly through his bloodstream. "Fuck- is it- an artery?!" he hissed as the fortified turtle pokemon floated him up to the edge of the cliff. Unfortunately nobody is having a good time up here. [break][break]

The SCATTERBANG makes his ears ring, struggling to orient himself. without knowing, a series of black veins begin to spider web up his torso, revealing itself on his neck and shoulders as his accelerated pulse helped the poison travel faster. His body twitched and convulsed, each ripping a choked word or two out of him. Shaking under the influence of it all, he grows frustrated- angry. Where was it- The source of the fucking tentacles. [break][break]

Pale eyes meet the Councilman's for a moment, sensing a threat. "Unnecessary." is all he can get out. He would not be losing anything today. Which is wild to say when he's clinging to a Drednaw for dear life. But nevertheless Mint moves on, preoccupied with other things, like the swiftly approaching tentacles form the deep attempting to drag the poisoned trio back down. "Fuck off-" he murmured as he slapped a pokeball on his waist and released his Baxcalibur. [break][break]

"Tera- terastr-" he began as the dual type began activating the strange crystals, a pink CROWN adorning its silly head. "Drop- Earthquake- Drop NOW-" Mint struggled to order as the bulbous head the fucking Ultra Beast began peaking out of the depths. The Baxcalibur knows, egging the gravity to let him slam like a meteor against beast and cliff. The subsequent EARTHQUAKE rattles the cliffs and the impact shoots up rock and dirt. And Tiramisu? It falls further down, slamming the Nihelego onto the ground. It wriggles and writhes, SCREECHING something fierce and as the dust clear, Mint grins wickedly. "Mother-!" he shouted, slipping off Lobster and following his partner, greedy and spiteful. "I'm going to pop your eggs like pimples, bitch" he warned tumbling into the cave-hole in the ground and moving towards the egg nest. An impulse derived from not thinking clearly, overrun by negative emotion and pain. [break][break]

Tentacles wrap around Tiramisu who roars once more as it attempted to POWER GEM the beast off. [break][break]

Given her company, the silent obligation to help his charges went unspoken between them. Elisabeth summoned her VENUSAUR from a Pokeball, throwing it so that the enormous Grass-type emerged and stretched out vines towards illeana reyes, ollie morales, and mint frost.[break][break]

Whether or not they could successfully grab on, the Venusaur would reel the vines back, hoping to lift the struggling adventurers out of the trench.[break][break]

"Are you all right?" Elisabeth called, wary of drawing too close despite herself. After all, she'd met Nihilego here before.

[break][break] it's that blue-haired guy — mint frost — that saved them in the form of his terrastalized pokemon. white light flashes at the pokemon uses an EARTHQUAKE to shake off the wild beast. rocks careen down from the cliff's edge, just a mint goes —

[break][break] "what the fuck, dude?!"

[break][break] where was he going?

[break][break] as the little guy goes after the egg nest, ollie's arms wrap around illeana reyes just as he calls for his drednaw. "razor shell!" cuts of light splinter off towards the nilhilego who struggles between the onslaught of both that and the POWER GEM. in the chaos, ollie unclips an ultra ball from his belt and tosses it towards the beast.

[break][break] he doesn't think it'll work until it does, followed by a burst of relief. it's then that Elisabeth Fiorelli's vines snake down into the cavern and ollie grips them tight with one hand, and illeana reyes in the other. his drednaw resurfaces soon too, just as they finally make their way to the surface.

[break][break] the ranger looks up at the woman who asks after them:

[break][break] "uh, yeah," he says, pushed to his feet as helps illeana to hers. it's only then that he realizes that someone is missing.

[break][break] "wait, where's the kid?"
