but as he stares at webbed fingers that reach out toward him, though his first and natural instinct is to lean away, to avoid being touched by this deity responsible for so much hurt, the scales of his own conscience tips.

he needs to know if this is real. if what Elisabeth Fiorelli says is true. if this is how they will finally ruin the man responsible for far too much.

speaking of danger, his gallade is quick to PSYCHO CUT an incoming mechanism. metal creaks as it splits apart, and from it rises what he knows to be a soul.

it floats away, never to be remembered, perhaps.

"i think that was...a soul."

while the urge does rise, the line will not be crossed by him, at least not so abundantly. teetering it seems fine, however.

"i've been settling into my new role. apart from that, not so much."

he returns a smile as they approach the entrance of what he knows to be their underground network. their sewers, essentially.

gallade's own LIFE DEW rises but it is to no avail. the volcanion's soul has long passed which is a concept he of all people should be familiar with. he wonders if it could be found within the border.

it is a thought he pays no mind to.

but as he says that, its eyes flicker with life, and for the briefest of moments he could almost hear it speak. but then the flicker fades and all that's left is metal.

"it's not ours to save."
