The team is pushed to their limits with only the promise of a hot bath and masseuse waiting for them upon completion. Personally, Fernando has no interest in the reward, just the satisfaction of reigning supreme in both performance and consistency. After all, to let someone else on his Leader Board is a blight to their sacrifice.

Silph's tired, and at this point so is Gavin. Though he'd had it relatively easy in using his Mudsdale as a mount to do all of the legwork, the sun had been beating down on them since it had risen some time ago. Gavin was from Circhester, where it never stopped snowing, and all this heat was enough to steadily drain the last of his strength.[break][break]

Plus, sitting astride a horse all day didn't feel great.[break][break]

Mudsdale's STAMINA endures, even if its mood has waned from its earlier pride. It's dusty and irate, pawing at the ground as if impatient to run. Still, it waits until the last of Silph's Pokemon urge it forward before taking off.[break][break]

kyle gets more motivated, knowing that this run is the last one they'll do. he cracks his knuckles as he gets ready, shooting a glance at his smeargle alongside a nod to give it a signal.

the normal-type psychs up, gaining the defense boosts from the mudsdale. unlike its trainer, however, it's just as tired as everyone else that it does the bare minimum with its actions.

Oh thank god, was all Razz could think as the beating sun and the effort this course took was taking it's toll on both him and Salem who looks like he was about ready to faint. "Okay this time you can just stay up here," he told his partner who just kept on his trainer's head with a nod thankful that he wouldn't have to do the leg work. Sure the Meowstic's fur just made him all the hotter but it was a small sacrifice and something he could put up with now that it was the last round, Salem excited for all you can eat fish he was promised earlier for after all this was done. For the last time he used PSYCH UP part of him hoping he would never have to use this move again after the starting bell rung.

Their last run, and Gavin wants it to be a good one. There's no way he'll be invited for further runs if he slacks off in the final stretches, so Gavin pushes his Mudsdale harder than he had at the start of the last course.[break][break]

He's getting the hang of controlling the willful beast, urging it to take a sharp left to avoid an obstacle that brought them trouble in the past. It's as if he can see the code stretching out in front of him. Hell, with this kind of heat, he wouldn't be surprised if he started hallucinating for real.[break][break]

the same question rings in kyle's head for every second that his feet stand at the dreaded obstacle course: are we there yet? the only objective in his mind right now was to finish the course, even to the point of getting tunnel visioned to the goal.

his smeargle was there to aid his trainer, at the very least. agility helps it maneuver around his trainer, flicking away any projectile that was aimed to throw them off the course.

"Just watch my blind spot here," Razz ordered his Meowstic who clung to his head as they ran. His legs may be burning but when he had a goal Razz knew how to keep focus. The ranger made sure to time his way going though the pendulums with hopefully not too much trouble. His arm up and directing in a silent communication of communicating with Salem to see if he would want him to use Psychic to move the Pendulum faster or slower if needed. This may be a course about defense but it didn't mean other tactics couldn't be used.

Keeping in shape and performing at the highest level are two very different things. At least his battle tracker will measure his heart rate and anxiety while they speed through the course. The meta data will be useful for further patches.

But for now, their main priority is getting through the day.

The finish line looms in the distance, out of reach and taunting him with its apparent closeness. He wants so desperately to cross it. This is their final run of the day. Cross the finish, and it's over. He's seen people get cocky in these last stretches, push themselves too far only to be knocked off the course mere feet from the end, and he endeavors not to be one of them. this was the last run for the day and kyle wants to convince himself to take it easy so his body won't hate him for pushing itself further than what it can accomplish. kyle ignores the thought, thinking that the sooner this ends, the better.

the smeargle does his best for a different reason: it wants to finish fast because that's what's been ingrained on his mind ever since kyle abused his abilities for pokeathlon.

With Salem being on him this round Razz was having a bit harder time with the heat as he was going through, part of him beginning to feel light headed because of it but he didn't have any plans to change his plan any time soon. His pokemon has done enough and this was a course meant for pokemon and their trainer. So he didn't mind taking a bit more responsibility this round, though it seemed Salem still focused on pushing himself as he took it upon himself to catch the flying projectiles coming at them as he knew they'd slow his trainer down too much.
