Fernando stretches prior to taking his spot on the track, scrunching his toes as he feels out the material. It's less about style and more about outfitting his team with new products to act as a test run. The fact that they look clean is just an added bonus for marketing purposes.

Using the same material crafted to handle Stormy Silph's heat, in theory these jersey should prevent the wearer from soaking in their own sweat. Much like other sports wear, the multiple thin layers will trap any possible sweat, causing it to evaporate through friction and wearer's body heat.

At least in theory, hence trying them out on the most intensive course the Pokeathlon has to offer.

Unrelated, Fernando's MOODY Smeargle uses TAILWIND, providing much needed ventilation for those that follow behind.

At Silph's direction, Gavin has brought a new competitor to the field: a Blaziken whose speed was a thing to be marveled, raw AGILITY present in its long limbs as it bounces from foot to foot at the starting line. The TAILWIND ruffles through its feathers, combining with a natural SPEED BOOST to lend it blazing speed. Gavin can only hope to keep up.[break][break]

the only thing good about this race course is selena gets better every time. the things which aren’t better have something to do with her company, but at least that is least of her problems now. all she needs to do is to ace every possible race. blaziken brace the start, experiencing the tailwind as she herself focuses on raising her agility while relishing with her innate speed boost.[break][break]

Katherine's Gallade voices no complaints, but he's not pleased about having to deal with yet another one of these courses.

Repetitive and boring, the element of competition was long lost in them. At this point, he was only participating for the sake of keeping his trainer pleased.

"Come on, Arthur. Don't be lazy. We can break a record together! Isn't that exciting?" His scoff can only mean one thing, but she opts to ignore it.

No announcement calls for the PSYCH UP to be performed, Gallade simply executes it and follows his instincts. He matches the speed of the Blaizken before beginning to sprint through the course.

He relies on his long strides to make up for the distance, quick to lift his foot for each pace as they dart along the track.

The beginning dash is always the easiest.

Katherine wasn't the type to gloat.

Actually, that was exactly her type. Gloating was akin to a second nature for her, and watching Fernando's pitiful pace earns a chuckle from the woman. She makes no attempt to stifle it or even hide the fact that she found it funny. No, she keeps her eyes on him and enjoys the show.

Even with his team mates obvious interest in him serving as a distraction, Fernando dismisses it as nothing more than the extra attention of attraction. She wouldn't be the first nor would she be the last. And yet, somehow the taste of red velvet permeates inside his mouth. With an exaggerated exhale, Fernando consciously ignores the sensation, continuing down the track.

They are not making good time, but Gavin's pride will not allow him to slack off even in the face of inevitable failure.
