Fernando wears the same shoes, scrutinizing the sole to see how much of the material has scuffed or eroded. It's one thing to offer the best performance, it's another thing to last more than a few wears. For now, he'll continue to test them out until he can provide decent feedback.

It's an odd question to ask right before they start their run, but Fernando's ran this course too many times to care. They still have time since the bell doesn't start until their first move. His Smeargle, as MOODY as it may be, waits for an answer before releasing a refreshing TAILWIND.

Fortunately, there's another partner Katherine can rely on for this course. A beautiful, tall Scolipede named Belladona. She happened to enjoy this course more than Gallade.

"I don't feel like running anymore, so you'll have to test them yourself." And yet, despite her words, she still wore the shoes Fernando had given her.

Belladona lowers herself slightly to make it easy for Katherine to climb up and mount her back. The bug-type shared little concern about the danger this might impose, and instead, she focused on her goal. Reaching the finish line first.

There was a good chance Katherine will come to regret her decision soon.

She didn't want to embarrass herself nor did she want to be acknowledged as the weak link of the team. Maybe she should have run instead, it'd have been a lot easier to manage than having to hold on tight to her Pokemon. Belladona was capable of carrying her trainer, of course, but it did come with the cost of slowing her down some.
