LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

back home, at league headquarters in slateport, councilman orion has given distinct orders for rangers and volunteers alike to take a breather. relax and unwind to help prevent burn out after a hard day's work. regional matters might be pressing but you'll need to conserve your strength in order to keep up the good fight.[break][break][break]

kyle has his arms wrapped around his delcatty as he looks over every other ranger and volunteer. the pokemon helps him normalize, easing from the stress and chaos of the recent events.

he's slumped on the ground, legs crossed across the floor. the delcatty's purring eventually calms him enough to make his lids heavy. he starts to drift off, head bopping as he continues to fight against the slumber, before he eventually succumbs to the call of sleep.

soft snores start to sound from the elite four while his pokemon frees itself from kyle's hold, wherein it starts to settle himself in his lap for its own nap.

Resting back on a lounge chair, the scientist's hair is tied up in a messy bun, cucumbers cut into sizable pieces and placed over her eyes. Really, she didn't do much of anything, but the idea of enjoying a relaxing day 'on the house' was something she simply couldn't resist. Lying that she was a hardworking ranger to reap the benefits of being spoiled for her 'hard labor' was easy enough. She took yet another piece of the expensive food offered, sighing out a relaxed breath.

From the corner of her eye, she saw her shiinotic waddling about, offering up a pollen puff here and there, to any who would risk taking a bite of the supposedly healing spores.

She sends a photo to dominic sinclair and a text alongside it: 'Wish you were here'. The insincerity of her text can practically be heard, even through nothing but words.

From miles away, he could see it hurtling towards him through his mind's eye, narrowing in on his present... Robbing him of any and every future.

Alakazam shivered as it was rattled out of its zen, coming to with a veneer of clammy sweat clinging to its yellowed skin. How long had it been meditating upon the looming Megalopolan conflict?

Far too long. The people and pokemon around it were not the same. There must have been news.

Karma took up a spoon and, fingers tensing against the metal, began to weaken its rigidity until it bent beneath the combined physical strain of strength and telekinesis. Just as easily it repaired the spoon, afterward recovering itself with a sigh.

Placing the spoons at either side, Karma began to meditate further on the future and its many tidings, and yet always found himself arriving at the same conclusion no matter how desperately it searched for another reality to pursue. But nothing else came to him in these enlightened moments.

Nothing but darkness and teeth and screams...

It had been utter hell these past few... days? Weeks? He wasn't keeping track anymore.

Reports were piling up and to be honest he was glad for the first time in a long time, they were asked to take a damned break from all the shit happening.

His Infernape, Wukong, was lounging lazily somewhere. Having used Slack Off to take a breather, Lars wasn't even surprised anymore.

Even he needed a break, too.

He really couldn't fault the Infernape wanting to knock off work instead of keep moving, so. There you have it.

another day of hard work finished and boy was he and the espeon burnt out of it. fighting off all these poisoned pokemon sure did take a lot of energy and come with a slew of problems for the people doing it. kaz's espeon herself wasn't spared of being burned by a slugma that got a little too hot headed for its own good. luckily a quick dose of refreshing itself was enough to heal away the burns. "y'know i'm so jealous that you can just do that fluffboi. like c'mon that's not even fair. i got burns too." they were nothing more than minor first degree burns, he would live but he would complain about it. meanwhile his espeon just rolled its eyes and walked out of the break room before kaz could "complain" even more.

Lucas was resting alongside his Relicanth. Him in a lawchair and the coelacanth pokemon in a portable fish tank on wheels. The wheels are absolved of any scratches, a testament to the stroller's time spent gathering dust in his garage.

Once the pair's rest was over Lucas took the handle of the stroller and began walking Relicanth. The wheels squeak comically across the pavement as he points towards different plants the Relicanth had never seen.
