LATE SEPTEMBER — as ultra wormholes are sighted in the seas of hoenn, the region begins to be tainted by poisons, the source of which is unknown. parts of hoenn's seas darken with toxic waste, like oil spills. for this reason, head scientist, lucas lane, has entrusted volunteers with a special antidote formula that he has helped create with elite four, thomas benoit's sludge sample.[break][break][break]

a nearby meadow is a popular place for floral photoshoots. thanks to roselia, the field is colorful all year along; however, the newest generation of budew have been oozing more poison than usual. they have also become quite aggressive despite their cute appearances. local gardeners are concerned for the health of the roselia population, and have requested help.[break][break][break]

Regardless of the Budew's meek appearance, he anticipates resistance, referring to his Heliolisk to take care of them. On paper, the electric type has no chance against the school of saplings, but their purpose extends beyond. As long as the Pokemon can BULLDOZE through through their till, that should be enough to pacify them.

It was quite terrible, frankly. Grass-type pokemon were often beautiful, despite the occasional prickly thorns and natural defenses they seemed to have. However, these Budew were quite careless with their poison, aggressive to top it all off. What was getting into them? And why was everything suddenly so toxic as of late? It was lucky they had these antidotes, or everything might have already fallen into complete disarray.

Sending out her Eldegoss named Sweetie, the Cotton Bloom pokemon spun around excitedly, her eyes on every little thing. From the flowers across the field to the beautiful fluffy clouds, and finally to the aggressive budew across the field. "Come on Sweetie, let's make sure nobody remains poisoned by them, alright?"

The Eldegoss cheered in delight, happy to help. Suddenly twirling once more, a green mist began to form around her as she began to use AROMATHERAPY. Hopefully, nobody got seriously injured today.

Lopunny pranced with a certain charm that was unique to her species, the type that made the pokemon so prestigious and highly sought by coordinators. This one, however, happened to be a fighter too.

Supposedly, if the report Katherine had been provided was correct, a colony of Budew have shown a concerning amount of poison spilling through their buds. They apparently also seemed more aggressive and violent than normal.

Considering what their region’s been dealing with in the past weeks, it wasn’t all that strange.

“Rototiller, Lopunny.”

The bunny-like pokemon responded by leaping back and forth on the ground, causing it to swell, shake and eventually turn softer for the nearby grass-types. Hopefully, it’d be enough to offer them some much-needed comfort.

Gavin's Lurantis has always been a bit of a diva. She'd intercepted the pokeball he'd thrown at her strangely coloured sister during a summer swarm of their kind; if she was not the center of attention, she was not happy.[break][break]

Cold though he could appear to be, Gavin cared for his Pokemon. That's how he found himself in this sunny patch of grass outside of Verdanturf with his Rotom phone hovering alongside him as Lurantis posed for photos. They're in the middle of the impromptu photo shoot when a particularly lethargic Budew stumbles into the shot and lunges for the preening mantis.[break][break]

Unfortunately for Budew, she was a vicious specimen herself.[break][break]

Light gathers around her strike, turning her limb into a SOLAR BLADE to cut down the offender. It seems to be an unnaturally sunny day, lending to the attack's power. Gavin notices that they're no longer alone; others have come, perhaps at the urging of the league, and the aggressive buds are summarily driven off and dispatched.

How odd.

He owned a Roselia—wait was it a Roserade, but this time… well, to be fair he wondered why the little ones were having a hard time trying to evolve. He knew that they were one of the finicky ones that required TLC in order to actually achieve the requisite.
