After almost getting arrested earlier than day, Chu-e sure needed a rest. But he also needed food because he was starving and to pick up some stuff for himself. Thankfully, the mall had places to eat as well as places to buy stuff. It kind of worked out perfectly. So now, to set the scene, the guy was sitting in a nice little cafe and sipping on some type of coffee that was more sugar than bean. A little plate of cookies next to him and a his shopping bags next to his feet. If it hadn't been for his fucked up left eye he would have looked perfectly inconspicuous and normal.

His eyes lingered out over the crowd, not really staring at anyone in particular but just to find something to do. A hint of something familiar drew him back to one woman in the crowd, with darker hair. She was pretty, from what he could tell anyway, and he wondered where he had seen her before... maybe if he stared as intense as he could it would lure her in and he could ask.

Stormy was in Slateport looking for party supplies. Balder Schwartz had asked her to help him organize a Mistletoe Matchup charity event, and she had been more than happy to lend her aid. Of course, she would end up actively participating in order to draw attention to the event, but for now, at least, she was just gathering supplies for decorating. Oh-- and satisfying her sweet tooth.[break][break]

Surely the charity event could use some catering, right? And what better suggestion than.. say.. cream puffs or macaroons or something. Or cookies![break][break]

She is hovering at the window of a bakery when she feels eyes gouging the back of her head. At first glance, she sees no one in the crowd that could possibly be staring at her, but the fact that the feeling still lingers indicates that something is amiss. Eventually, her eyes settle on a vaguely familiar face in the crowd. Curiosity bests her, and she begins to approach.[break][break]

Oh, good. His honestly really stupid and creepy plan had worked. What a surprise.

He took a sip of his drink and idly pointed to the woman. "Have we met before?" Since Chu-e did recognize her. It was itching at the back of his mind... where...

Stormy probably got that a lot since she was a hotshot famous Elite Four hero type. But instead recognition clicked on his face and his face lit up some as he tried to stifle a laugh.

"You're that girl I argued with over cream puffs!" And he had been a right dick, too. He at least looked a little bashful. "Oh man... I was an ass. Sorry about that. I really needed therapy back then."

Standing up, Chu-e pointed to the seat across from him. "Here, you sit down. I'm buying you something for putting up with me." His tone was friendly but garnered no arguments.

He points at her and now she is sure that he was staring at her, specifically. It takes all of her strength to not look over her shoulder, just in case.[break][break]

"It's.. possible, I'm sure. I've been told I have a familiar face."[break][break]

She's being facetious.[break][break]

But the man puts the pieces to the puzzle together all by himself, and it leaves Stormy's expression surprised and mildly uncomfortable. Her brows knit together as he finishes speaking.[break][break]

"Ahh.. yes, I do remember you."[break][break]
The woman clears her throat, studying his face, reading his guilt. He apologizes, which genuinely surprises her, and she hesitates before responding, giving the man enough chance to stand up and gesture for her to sit. [break][break]

"You really don't have to--"[break][break]

But the way he insists suggests he won't take no for an answer, and so she finds herself sinking into the chair across from him, an awkward smile pressed to her cheeks.[break][break]

Chu-e has already flitted away to the counter, trusting her to sit and keep an eye on his bags. Already putting a lot of faith into someone whose only interaction had been unpleasant for her.

But he did come back a few minutes later, this place wasn't busy right now, and sat a bottle of Peacha juice and a few cream puffs (of all things) in front her before sitting down himself. Chu-e seemed pleased, even picking up his cookie to take another small nibble.

"Thought the irony would be nice, but they do look good! It's a sampler. Two custard, two cream, two chocolate." At least he thought that was what they had said. "Sorry again, by the way. I was... uh.... like, kinda drunk at the time, and pissed off cause the guy I was pining for was dancing with someone else, and.... like..." He tapped his chin as he thought it over. "Going through some other stuff. None of that, like, excuses me being an asshole and picking a fight, I just, uuuuh... saw you as a target to take out my frustration on." The last bit sounded kind of rehearsed and more formal, something he had picked up elsewhere and probably repeated more than just to Stormy.

"I'm afraaaaaid to say I can't remember your name. I'm Ji-Hoon Ki. So... nice to meet you again?"

Would Stormy remember his real name? Had he even introduced himself? It was all a little fuzzy now. Hell, since he had said his piece, she was free to throw the cream puffs in his face and leave. She wasn't required to accept his apology or his company.

Stormy places her hands together in her lap awkwardly, glancing from side to side as she reclines in her chair. There was nothing more she could do, and she could.. leave, but that felt rude and inappropriate. Though, honestly, this whole situation felt inappropriate. Normally people just smiled, agreed to disagree, and moved on, right?[break][break]

Not him, apparently. And not her, either.[break][break]

Fortunately, it doesn't take him long to return with treats in hand and a drink in hand. She blinks, glancing between the cream puffs that make the blood drain from her face, and the smiling young man sitting across from her. He.. had to be joking, right? Was he playing a prank?[break][break]

"It's... okay. It sucks to see someone you love looking at someone else. I know what that's like."[break][break]

Stormy studies his face a moment, the way he taps his chin and the solemness - albeit rehearsed - way he phrases his apology. She smiles a bit, the tension between them relieved the moment he admits he can't remember her name.[break][break]

She extends her hand across the table for him to take.[break][break]

"My name's Stormy Silph. It's a pleasure to meet you, Ji-Hoon."[break][break]

When the hand is offered, Chu-e feels a bit of tension slide off his shoulders he didn't know was there. That grin is back on his face, almost catlike, and he takes her hand to give it a shake- his grip is surprisingly firm since he looks like a stiff wind might knock him over.

"Sorry if I bothered you when you were busy, too, by the way. Sometimes I forget other people actually have, like, actual things they need to do." Chu-e was a smidgen sheepish as he said that part, too. "But it's nice to officially meet you as well, Stormy!"

A moment passes where Chu-e isn't really sure... how to continue this. He doesn't know this woman, not in the slightest. Other than a shared experience over him being a prick, there isn't much to talk about. The ball wasn't really a memory he wanted to keep talking about, most of that night had been terrible for him, so it made no sense to relive it.

Which meant it was time to drag out the 'would you rather' questions.

"So, Miss Stormy, real important question for you." And he crossed his arms on the table, leaned in a little as if he was whispering something like a conspiracy. "Would you rather get a paper cut every time you turn a page or bite your tongue every time you eat?"

Ah, the glory of 'get to know you' games.

His stiff handshake is appreciated, a mild comfort among the awkwardness of their entire meeting. She pulls her hand back to her side, to settle back into her lap, and her eyes find the curve of his nose and the blueness of his eyes very captivating.[break][break]

"I was in no particular hurry to be anywhere, honestly - I didn't mind sitting down for a moment. It's sort of a relief to catch my breath."[break][break]

She smiles, tilting her head to the side.[break][break]

And he manages to lift what remains of the tension instead with some degree of awkwardness or surprised. Stormy's eyebrows raise and she watches him with a bewildered, owlish expression.[break][break]

"Well... I suppose that depends on your answer to this equally important question."[break][break]

She, too, crosses her arms and leans forward against the table.[break][break]

"What if someone else turns the pages for me? Will they get a papercut on my behalf? And what if I drink only a liquid diet - or I have someone else chew my food for me that I might only have to swallow?" [break][break]

Chu-e feels a little better when she does seem to relax a bit. It's subtle, in the line of her shoulders and the creases of her brows, but he notices. He was always good at observing things like that; just never saw fit to use that skill most of the time. But, that being said, he does lean back in his chair and rub his chin in a more dramatic-than-needed fashion for the current conversation.

"Hmm... good point. I'll say... they do get the paper-cut for you. And stuff meant to be drinks, like water or juice, you'll be fine. But stuff, like, a hamburger smoothie, which should not be a drink, you'll still bite your tongue somehow." Then he wrinkles his nose. "... I'll let you go on someone else chewing your food, because that's punishment enough."

"Personally... I guess I would go with biting my tongue. I read more than I eat, nowadays." His shelves back at home at always been filled with stories and legends of things that interested him. Chu-e was no means an expert of that sort of thing, more a casual fan. He was sure that when he got back to Mossadeep he would be able to fill up any spaces on his shelves quickly.

The way he expresses himself so casually makes her smile with a sense of wonder and bewilderment. However, his genuity seems, well.. genuine, and so she lets herself relax into her chair to continue watching him. On occasion, she even reaches forward to sip at her drink, letting her warm breath fog up the lid.[break][break]

And his responses are amusing, although a bit disappointing. It seems her attempts to loop-hole her way out of this mess had been all for naught. How lame.[break][break]

"Oh really? A hamburger smoothie shouldn't be a drink? Then why would it be called a smoothie?"[break][break]

Stormy chuckles.[break][break]

"But... I'd rather the paper-cuts. I like eating too much and I read too little, so it seems the best possible option. Besides, most things I can read on my phone now, right?"[break][break]

It surprises her that he chooses to bite his own tongue over and over, but she doesn't argue. [break][break]

"A blended hamburger would make a thick-ass smoothie all on it's own... Maybe adding some yogurt or milk? Or the soda with the- you know what, we're moving on. This is grossing me out." But he laughed, seeming to not mind too much this topic that he brought up to start with. "Oh, the phone is one I didn't consider. Maybe it shocks you instead of cuts you for your crimes."

"Let's see... ah, would you rather that the public at large have access to all the pictures on your phone, all the time, or the except with all your texts?" Laughing, he idly poked at his own phone, face down on the table. "I'm more than happy with them seeing my texts. They're nothing fun. But my pictures... well, I have more than just cat pictures on there, if you catch my drift." A small snort.

Waiting on Stormy Silph 's answer, Chu-e picked up his own cookie, already halved and barely eaten, and broke that halve in two again. Maybe he could manage this much? Ugh, he hated having a super fucked up stomach.
