ROUND 2 has commenced. each challenger stands on one end opposite from the other. upon the scoreboard the audience are able to see the battle between the following are:

the CONTEST BATTLE is a five-minute battle ( you have until the 15th posting round ) in which two pokémon coordinators face each other while continuing to show off their pokémon's style and skill as in the performance stage. just like the first round we will use a point system.

the battle will begin with a fixed number of points and the object of the battle is to decrease the opponent's points. points are deducted by either of the following:

coordinators may lose points when their pokemon are hit by an attack.
when their pokemon's attack fails.
when the opposing pokemon performs a particularly appealing move or combination.
when the opposing pokemon uses their ( the opponent's) pokemon's attack to its own advantage.
if neither side has chosen to attack within a posting round, you will both receive a penalty card and be deducted points. receiving a second penalty card will result in disqualification.

there will be FIFTEEN POST ROUNDS IN TOTAL meaning each person ( you, your opponent, and myself ) will be making FIFTEEN POSTS EACH. the order will go as follows:

my post which will include score tally/summary. this will signify the end of round 1.

opponent's post
rinse and repeat my post, end of round 2.

Josh Dragomir, this is your time to shine and make a name for yourself in hoenn. prove the crowd wrong and win, and if you can't win against this formidable opponent. that's okay too, you just have to make a name for yourself right here and now. show the crowd who will be the future top coordinator of this region!

With the finale of round one, Stormy's Moltres leaves the stage in a flurry of rainbow banners and flame. Round two opens with the final four contestants facing off against one another in a one on one battle. Of course, the guidelines encourage beauty over brawn, and Stormy muses over her next Pokemon participant.[break][break]

In the end, she chooses her Ninetales.[break][break]

The moment the beautiful Pokemon bounded into the arena, her tails fan and the sun shines brilliantly. Her drought ensures that the scene stays hot and vibrant, boosting her enthusiasm and her confidence.[break][break]

The Ninetales' eyes glow with psychic power, and a magical, mirrored barrier surrounds the arena. It shimmers iridescent, glowing and shifting with the change in lights. It's beautiful, reflecting distorted images of both Fletchling and Ninetales both.[break][break]

A disadvantage. No chance, he heard. That was what he was dealing with. Yes, he supposed that's what people would think considering he was up against a member of the Elite Four, and likely someone with more Contest experience than he. But Josh was anything if not completely stubborn. He refused to let that sentiment deter him. He would win, or he'd at least make an impact. He had listened to the judge's criticisms carefully and considered his next move for the battle portion. Taking a deep breath, the blonde smiled as he held out an arm, before swinging to bring out his Pokemon. Confidence returned to his face after only a few moments of stoicity. The game was on.

"Leeeeeeeeeeeeeeet's go, Logu!"

The Fletchling spun through the air the moment it was released from its Pokeball. His opponent, the Elite Four member, had chosen her Ninetails. This was going to be tough, he knew. Considering she'd pulled out a Moltress for the appeals... He tried not to think about it too much. But while Fletchling didn't have the size of Ho-Oh, he thought a little variation would keep the crowd entertained. Dragonite was closer in size, but by using Fletchling as his little Ho-Oh this time, the crowd would be interested in seeing what he could do with this combination. It kept eyes on him, and that was what he needed right now.

"Tailwind!"

The both of them would be starting with effect moves, then. The fittingly named Logu would kick up a Tailwind, spinning through the air for a moment more before almost completely disappearing in its speed. With a lack of size, it was able to make up for it with speed, mimicking the elusiveness of Ho-Oh as it veered through the area, both to give the illusion of an elusive legend, and to confuse Ninetails on its whereabouts. A show of what qualities the Pokemon possessed, and the Trainer's veteran battling expertise coupled with an entertainer's flair.

Josh snapped his fingers, and for a moment, Logu slowed down. Became more visible to the audience but only for a few moments. Symbolizing that moment where Ho-Oh appears to those who have the rare honor to see it, even if only momentarily...

Fletchling's nickname is "Logu", based off the mythical Norse figure Logi, the fire jotunn. A demi-god of fire, in a sense.

The lights dimmed for a moment... then brightened blissfully at her surprise arrival.[break][break]

Garbed in her flowing dress, Adelaide gracefully strode across the stage to the marker she had been assigned as she happily waved at the cheering crowd. When the lights converged upon their arena and everyone stood in place, the pink-haired lass shifted her beaming eyes to Stormy Silph and Josh Dragomir and smiled. "Nice to meet you, cuties! Let's do our best, 'kay?" She urged, pumping both of her dainty gloved fists in front of her.[break][break]

Suddenly, a fierce and competitive flame burned in her lavender eyes as she struck a pose, spreading one foot apart and setting one hand against her hip while the other reached for the sky. "Caecilia! Let's show them the heat of our love, darling! Harken to me!"[break][break]

Somewhere in the shadows at the edges of the contest hall, a noble eagle's cry rang out. Then, with the fiery ignition of its ability, FLAME BODY, a Talonflame emerged from that darkness like a phoenix, burning the shadows away and casting the audience below in the flickering orange glow of its light. With an AGILITY that only served to stoke the flames that flowed off of its wings, Caecilia shot towards the arena like a meteor before spiraling upwards and leaving a trail of hot sparks in her wake.[break][break]

In the dazzling luminescence of these sparks, Adelaide's eyes shone like crystal clear amethyst, staring upwards with reverence for her partner. [break][break]

"and the battle start's with a stunning spectacle from our trio!"

as pokemon bedazzled the crowd. each contestant brought forth the confidence and showmanship that garnered their attention. between the three Stormy Silph would steal most of the hearts. the crowd would roar for the elite four maiden as the ability DROUGHT brought out a radiant glow that garnered the gaze of all. ninetales furcoat had shone brilliantly due to the enhanced coating formed by SAFEGUARD.

next came Josh Dragomir, "how beautiful, it was almost as if the fletchling was performing some sort of dance. with such brilliant speed, it's hard to keep up with the elusive pokemon!" sadly, it would be overshadowed by the fiery Adelaide Whiteley's talonflame! as the talonflame soared onto the field and unveiled itself before the crowd like a phoenix. the crowd would roar with cheer and excitement. [break][break]

"what a way to start the battle off, the power of FLAME BODY is more stronger than your average fire-type move due to ninetales' ability! therefore, the flames grow hotter, bigger, and stronger! giving it the body of a phoenix almost, what a way to utilize the playing field! how will josh and stormy counterattack as Adelaide Whiteley steals the show!?"

Rather than fight against the Fletchling's tailwind, Caecilia joins it. Matching the smaller bird's speed with her agility, the glittering Talonflame attempts to draw closer to the little robin inch-by-inch. To mimic and, subsequently, to overshadow: this is her goal. From a small seed to a bright sweetgum tree, the audience can bear witness to the glorious results of love and nurturing through their comparison![break][break]

Shining red feathers fall from the Talonflame's wings like autumn leaves, gently descending towards the crowd of people below as little mementos to commemorate the aerial dance above. But the large bird can only tolerate having the Fletchling taking the lead for so long. The time for mimicking comes to a close almost as quickly as it arrived, and the beautiful belle gazing up at her knows it just as well.[break][break]

"Break free of your past, Caecilia! Spread those flaming wings of freedom and FLY!" Adelaide cheers, clasping her open hands together to form a symbolic pair of wings. In response, the Talonflame kicks its talons towards the Fletchling, attempting to bound off of it and knock it off balance before shooting into a dazzling display of ACROBATICS.[break][break]

With any luck, the speed and complexity of her twirls, sharp turns, and steep drops will help evade any attack that may be thrown her way thereafter.[break]

Ninetales remains virtually stationary, observing the two flaming phoenixes take flight above her. She fans her tails from time to time, offering the audience her good side. Although she is not, at least for the moment, the apple of their eye, the safeguard from earlier continues to make her shine.[break][break]

And, with her eyes on her two opponents, she's quickly coming to a conclusion and a next-step. [break][break]

"No one likes to see someone hog the spotlight. Eden, why don't you give that poor Fletchling a break, and a time to shine?"[break][break]

With mysterious glowing eyes, the Ninetales jumps to her feet and her nine tails spread out, flame catching at their tips in her passion. Her eyes seem to pulse, an odd energy, a hypnosis targeting the Talonflame as it barrels down on top of the tiny bird. She hopes to wear it down and bring it back to the ground.[break][break]

The sudden change in the rules had been a shock, but in his years, Josh had learned to cope with change. From moving between regions, to seeing a once prosperous region he had grown up in, go up in flames. From his time as a Trainer on the road, to his time with the International Police, and now as a Ranger. Change was part of the game and he had played it many times before. Now was no different. And now, he needed to apply that experience if he was going to make his name in Hoenn. As a Trainer, as a businessman, as a Coordinator... He needed to pull this off. This was his chance, his shot!

If he could just win this, the contest would be his. And then perhaps he could truly say he and his Pokemon had arrived here in Hoenn.

Things had begun to heat up. But he took a deep breath, let himself settle... Calmed down, and then his expression turned to be more determined than ever before. This was another challenge that he needed to rise to. And seeing the Talonflame come out only seemed to fire up Logu even more. The little birdie that could refused to be outdone -- it kept its spin up, the speed it was going at making it a fiery blur that kept its allure of mystery as it flew up close, while also moving in the opposite direction of the Talonflame.

But when Talonflame changed direction, Josh knew exactly what was coming. The time for theatrics was over, it was going on the attack.

Josh raised his hands, keeping his confidence despite it all. For he'd heard something that had caught his attention... The third party's call for Hyponosis.

"GET READY FOR OUR COMEBACK TOUR! AERIAL ACE!"

Just as the Talonflame caught up and began to sear the Fletchling with its approach, Logu flipped backwards through the air, narrowly skimming off the back of its bigger counterpart. It didn't entirely escape unscathed though -- Acrobatics did its job of dealing damage on the tail end of the flip, but the stubborn little birdie was able to complete the motion. With its wings glowing a brilliant hue as Gale Wings activated, Logu used the glow of its wings to torpedo through the air and provide a brilliant light show not all that far from the lights of the Rainbow Wing as it barreled straight down, acting like a drill as it tried to slam the Talonflame down... Down somewhere that Josh was directing traffic to with his arms.

Where?

Straight at Ninetales just as its Hypnosis was fired.

With any luck, it would put Talonflame to sleep and it would fall right on top of Ninetales. If the plan worked, Josh would be able to disrupt both opponents at once. But he hadn't ignored the damage that Acrobatics had done. His Fletchling was battered, it was just too stubborn to show it. But he knew it wouldn't hold out forever. He could already sense the effects. If this plan worked, they'd need to follow up fast.

the crowd cheered the trio on. amazed by the fletchling and their trainer continuing to fight despite the intimidating challengers before them. Stormy Silph was successful in her attempt to sink Adelaide Whiteley's talonflame into a deep slumber caused by telepathic waves of hypnotism. just as the fletchling had almost met an unfortunate fate, it was saved, though barely! it would now come to find itself over the talonflame's back rather the talonflame this time.

as talonflame began to drift slowly into a sea of slumber, it would come to quickly be awoken by the FLETCHLING'S AERIAL ACE assault! preparing to crash into the ground, or rather into ninetails, as Josh Dragomir's fletchling placed weight atop of it. Stormy Silph needed to make her move now! "how will Stormy Silph respond?!"

Ninetales' hypnotic waves do the trick, pulling the Talonflame closer and closer to the ground. Unfortunately, before the bird could dive into a deep slumber, the fox's attack is intercepted or canceled by the Fletchling's interference. The little bird slams into the Talonflame, jarring the Pokemon awake.[break][break]

And then she feels the little bird crash-land into her fur. At first, the Ninetales bristles, the foreign body pressed between her shoulder blades. But it is Stormy's eye contact and cool composure that helps the Pokemon relax and compose herself, in return.[break][break]

The crowd squeals, an announcer taunting Stormy into action. [break][break]

"Turn up the heat, Eden!"[break][break]

Warmth bubbles beneath the surface, and Ninetales leans forward similar to a downward facing dog yoga position. Her tails fan out and her ears flatten, and fire begins to burn hotter and hotter at her core. It expands outward, engulfing the Fletchling if it didn't move quick enough, and pursuing the bird if it had. The incredible heat of the fire blast is overwhelming, hotter than anything normal. [break][break]

If it would make contact with either of the two birds, it would burn on contact.[break][break]

Too late. He’d tried to hit them with Aerial Ace just as Hypnosis was shot, but all he’d done was batter them awake instead of knocking the opponents into each other. That attempt at creativity had backfired unfortunately, but it wasn’t over just yet. Logu had remained on the Talonflame's back, hitching a piggyback ride on its bigger counterpart. A move that would surely get the attention of the crowd. The Fletchling was smaller and less powerful than its two counterparts, but Logu had been able to use that size and the speed it brought to its advantage. But as Ninetales shot Fire Blast at the two birds, Josh saw it was time to put that speed to use once more.

"Flame Charge right at it!"

The Fletchling used Flame Charge from atop the Talonflame perch and launched itself straight at Ninetails, the flames obstructing Talonflame's vision. Just like that, it was careening straight towards the Fire Blast... The little Fletchling that could, meeting unstoppable odds head on. Josh could hear the gasps through the crowd, but he kept the pressure on, waiting for the right moment... Waiting... Waiting...

"NOW!"

Logu ducked down just slightly at the last second, slipping past the little gap between the lower ends of the Fire Blast. The near-miss would be complimented by Logu rising through the air and completing a full loop, a phoenix rising from the grips of death with barely a moment to spare.

And the obstruction of Talonflame's vision from the display? Entirely on purpose. It wouldn't have much time to dodge that Fire Blast now.

With Adelaide cheering from below and, of course, the Fletching's unintentional help, the Talonflame's sharp yellow eyes burst open suddenly. Concurrently, it twirls around in the air and spreads its wings, flapping them with one powerful gust as it launches itself backwards. It had awoken without a grasp for the current situation, after all. Backing away and gauging it was the obvious option.[break][break]

It seemed like the Fletching that had rode upon its back had other ideas, however. This one launched itself forwards with a FLAME CHARGE, off and away from the Talonflame at last, and instead directly into the inferno of a FIRE BLAST. When Adelaide issued a sharp whistle, calling Caecilia back to her, the Talonflame swiftly (SPD +2) flew off. It seemed as though it was time to prepare for the final charge.[break][break]

"You were doing so good, Cae! But no beauty naps until later, 'kay?" The pink-haired lass giggled, raising a hand to the sky as the bird stopped to a hover just above her. "It's time to show them the beauty of autumn! A fiery sunset into the fresh new year!" She sing-songs, suddenly obscured within a cloud of red, orange, and yellow feathers as her Talonflame descends to land a few meters in front of her. (ROOST)[break][break]

When the feathers clear, the audience can see it has struck a pose: wholly reminiscent of the legendary Ho-Oh![break]

Immediately after waking up, Talonflame retreats to regain a better understanding of the situation. Fletching appears to go in the opposite direction (straight towards the Ninetales) and Talonflame flies back to Adelaide with a Roost while the that transpires.[break][break]

SUNNY DAY FORMED BY NINETAILS' DROUGHT remained where it was: above the audience, pokemon, and trainers. each pokemon radiated with beauty and strength. the fire power exhibited by all three made it difficult for the crowd to determine the winner. it was expected of Josh Dragomir to fail out of the final round, but he and his fletchling have been fighting with a burning passion to win.

the crowd cheered in support for both he and his fletchling, "go, LITTLE ROOKIE!" they shouted, and chose, to call Josh Dragomir, "you can do it!" but could he? for Adelaide Whiteley's and Stormy Silph's fans were just as loud. the battle grew in heat. the battle intense, there was no telling of the outcome.

Stormy Silph's ninetales would release a powerful FIRE BLAST that would look to seek the fletchling out, but with FLAME CHARGE boosted by the sunny day born from drought, it would come to be speedily boosted. with luck, Josh Dragomir's fletchling swiftly dodged the fire blast by finding a narrow opening. luck was on both fletchling and the little rookie's side. rising like a phoenix, his wings shone brilliantly before those watching live and at home.

now, what of Adelaide Whiteley? a bit sloppy this round for though it, too, had a boost in speed. the pokemon would come to be slightly grazed by the powerful fire from our flame princess of the elite four. though, quickly, she'd clean up their act with a ROOST.

all three radiantly did well this round from attacking to dodging. NOW ON THE FOURTH ROUND OF THIS FIGHT, what would come next? "stay tuned all, for this fight seems to be nearing an end! how will they all continue!? it's getting hot in here and we're all on the edge of our seat, how will this end!?"

Adelaide looks up to set her admiring gaze on her companion, and her amethyst eyes sparkle with the firelight from the Talonflame's shimmering wings (FLAME BODY). Win or lose, this was it! Their final display of beauty and power! Everything they had to give in one blazing, passionate charge! [break][break]

But this wasn't just a display of their power, or their beauty. Much deeper than that, it laid the bond between pokemon and trainer, partner and coordinator, bare for all the audience to see. "It's time, Cae! No more reservations!" Addy beamed, the sparks of flame from above dripping onto her dress and beginning to burn away the leaf-like fabric.[break][break]

For seconds, it would appear as though Adelaide herself was on fire! With a twirl that ends in a striking pose, however, the flames are reduced to gleaming golden sparks as she points towards the Ninetales ahead with an undaunted, courageous gleam in her expression. In the space of a moment, herform suddenly becomes enveloped in a deep blue glow from above. Her Talonflame's entire body is alight with a azure flame! And the hawk cries out just before Adelaide issues the command:[break][break]

"FLARE BLITZ! ❤"[break][break]

Barely catchin' my breath[break]

It takes off like a jet, causing a curl of pink hair to hang across Adelaide's forehead as the tail of her dress is blown backwards by the wind. Despite this, the glittering beauty stands firm as she watches her partner cross the gap between itself and its competitors in mere seconds (SPD +2). Maximum speed! Maximum flame! The force of it could be felt from the farthest aisles![break][break]

Aiming straight for the Ninetales, but attempting to strike down the Fletching on its way as well, Caecilia the Talonflame was determined to land her attack successfully no matter the cost. The success of her endeavor would fill the arena with a wild blaze of blue fire, from which she intended to rise from afterwards in a spiral of smoke that wafted from the tips of her feathers.[break][break]

Win or lose. Win or lose, the audience would find Adelaide smiling, a single tear of joy pooling at the corner of her eye before striding down the length of her fair cheek. Proud of her partner, and proud of herself, she was as much in awe as anyone sitting in the audience nearby. This was perhaps the brightest, most genuine happiness she had ever known.[break][break]
