The traditional speed-dating tables had become somewhat obsolete as the winter festivities kicked off, and for good reason. Perilously few couples had actually taken advantage of them, and why should they? People were far keener to explore the newly-decorated Fortree City while there was still daylight.

As much as Chryssa wanted to join them in their skating and climbing up into the upper boughs, her legs had been steadily growing worse since she’d taken an unfortunate fall during a faux-snowball fight in her first round. She refused to let her burning muscles spoil her fun, however, and the spotlight called!

“Hello Razz Kingsman," She said breathlessly, arriving with powdery snowflakes still in her hair. “I want to play skeeball.”

She was already holding the balls, three in each splayed hand. Her too-small hands looked like arcade machine claws with the round wooden shapes clutched between her fingers. Farther down the street, an attendant poked his head out of his stall, shaking his fist. “You! Over there! Bring those back! I’ve got other customers!”

Chryssa ignored him, gazing up at Razz with a curious intensity. “I’ve already taken collateral from the vendor, as you can see,” she said after a moment of openly studying his scarred face. She smiled suddenly, brightly, and held out a hand to offer him the three balls. “If you take them, you’re officially an accomplice.” Her tone was innocent. “I’m not a kleptomaniac, by the way. I just like to provide incentive.”

The vendor had stopped shouting, afraid of driving off his clients, but he now stood in the snowy street watching them with his arms crossed and foot tapping.

Now that Razz has finished grabbing Salem from attempting to take more sweets he was once again sitting at one of the tables, again hoping to just not be seen and be forgotten about in this dumb event. So nothing but dread filled him as his name was spoken. Razz may not be wearing his nametag but Salem seemed more than happy to have it out on full display to force interaction with others. [break][break]

Razz just looks up from the table as she declares what she wants to do, no introduction, no hello, just wanting to play a game. He'd be lying if he knew what skeeball was though. He was about to attempt to say hi until the sudden yelling of another and the realization that she just stole the balls came to him and he was hating everything. He didn't know what to say to her, he was dumbfounded at the whole situation. [break][break]

Salem was jumping with excitement as he was trying to nudge his trainer into agreeing. He just groaned a bit as he rather just return the balls and leave, but the look on the girl seems like she wouldn't take no for an answer. Razz just gives a nod as he takes the balls offered to him before walking back to the booth where skeeball was, the ranger signing an apology to the man. Though as Razz looks at the balls, and the skeeball thing he realizes once again that, he's never done this before, "Do.... do you just throw it?" he finally speaks clearly unsure.

He was the quiet type. That suited Chryssa perfectly. She preferred a captive audience.

The moment he took the balls the girl spun around, saluting the vendor to let him know they were on their way. The man rolled his eyes and returned to his booth, shaking his head, as the pair came up. "Don't do that again," he said disgruntledly, but seeing that Chryssa had just gone to collect another customer for him seemed to have settled him down. "Two PokeDollars per round, each round gets you three balls."

"The first round's on me!" Chryssa said smoothly, combing dots of fluffy fake snow out of her hair with a freed hand. "I am a gentlewoman, after all--" He'd finally spoken up, surprising her. Apparently he didn't know how to play!

"It's similar to bowling-- you just--" The stall vendor began to try and explain his game, but Chryssa ran right over him.

She took a big step forward, getting very close to Razz and locking eyes with him. And then Meowstic. And then Razz again.

"With the ball clutched in one hand," she said softly, making a fist, "One must roll straight, and swiftly." Behind her stretched the track, a long, velvet-covered slope leading up to a series of upraised rings marked with point values. Chryssa inhaled, filling her lungs. "It will not fly true unless you feel it. Here."

She laid a finger lightly on the center of his chest, barely brushing the fabric.

"You just roll it like this," the shop attendant said behind her, rolling one of the balls up the ramp. It jumped and settled in the 10 point mark. "Just... whenever you're ready."

Now would probably not be a good time to mention that he's never bowled either. So the difference was lost to him, but unlike this game, he knew what bowling was. He looks at the ball for a moment as the vendor begins to explain before he is quickly moving back as the girl came uncomfortably close to lock her eyes with his one. Thankfully Salem's purring was keeping his full anxiety at bay, though the cat seemed to find her interesting. Though as interesting as Salem found her, not even he understood what they meant in her explanation. Honestly it just made the Ranger more confused, "Wha?" [break][break]

Thankfully the vendor spoke crazy as they showed how to do it. Okay it seemed do able? He attempted it for the first time, but seemed to try to hard as the ball had a bumpy roll up with how hard he threw it as it ended up ricocheting and bouncing right back. Thankfully Salem acted quick and grabbed the ball with this psychic abilities as the cat offered it to Chryssa the cat trying to motion for her to try first to give another example. "Sorry miss...." he glacnes at her nametag, "Glasgow, I don't.... really do these"

Oh, she would demonstrate all right. This world wasn't ready for Chryssa's Skee Ball (TM) How-To Tutorial.

"You have to feel it, Razz Kingsman!" she said again like some kind of Skee Ball Spiritual Guru. "In your heart. Your soul, even. Dig back into your happy memories--" She had backed completely up from the stall almost into the snowy street, her arm wound up behind her. Her chattering faded as she retreated.

"Hey! You better be coming back!" the attendant exclaimed.

A moment later, apparently wanting the momentum of a running start, Chryssa came stomp-stomp-stomping back and let the wooden ball fly. "Hiyah!" Despite her efforts, the ball rolled completely normally, sailed up the ramp, and plopped into the 10 point ring, just like the vendor's. "Well, maybe feeling it isn't important after all," the girl declared, losing interest.

She turned to the Meowstic on Razz's shoulder. Seeing him catch the wooden ball which had almost ricocheted gave her an idea. "Aha! What if we spice things up a bit with Psychic Pokemon? Would you like to help us play, Meowstic?"

"Cheating now, are we?" the vendor said dryly, "Well, I don't care. It's all for fun, it's not like there's any prizes."

"I didn't say it would be easy," Chryssa said, triggering a Pokeball. A Gothorita appeared beside her, blue eyes widening as she took in their winter-themed surroundings. "I have three balls left, and you have two. On your turn, try to roll like normal-- Meowstic can help-- and Fenella here will defend the goal with one of mine."

The wooden ball rose from the girl's hand, faintly outlined in energy, then zipped over to hover above the set of scoring rings.

The ranger could only watch as Chryssa walked back as far as she could, once more making the vendor yell at her. "Don't worry sir I'll make sure she doesn't try to take your balls," Razz tries to reassure hoping that it would put the vendor at ease somehow. Salem just facepalms at his trainer's lack of understanding of his choice of words. Razz watches once again as she makes her attempt and it seems like she only does slightly better as she actually makes some points. He does give her a bit of a confused look at the idea of bringing in psychic pokemon. "He goes be Salem actually," he informs not entirely sure how he felt about it especially as the vendor described it as cheating.

"Umm.... I'm half blind and can't aim as it is, and you want to make this harder?" Razz mentions as he points to the headband he had covering half his face, he didn't have it there for fashion. Though Salem seems excited at the idea of helping so he just shrugs and nods as Chryssa releases her own psychic pokemon. "Just help with aiming," he tells his cat as he attempts to aim for the center for now, Salem using PSYCHIC to make up for the poor aim as it move it's trainer's arm to the right a bit. Once the cat helps him line up he rolls the ball up the ramp, for now seeing if it'll go or if the Gothorita would block it.

"Salem," Chryssa corrected herself without missing a beat. "And yes, I do! Adversity is the key to growth. Are you ready?" Of course she'd noticed the young man's eye covering, and she actually hadn't assumed it was just aesthetic. But nothing good ever came easy, especially not in her Skee Ball.

He rolled the ball, and Chryssa pointed as it skimmed the jump and flew towards the goals. "Block it, Fenella!" she cried. The Gothorita began to focus, but at that moment a pudgy Delibird shot into the stall, red flippers a blur as it maneuvered around to try and face the two teens and deliver its present.

Unfortunately, the ball was headed straight for it.

It was like a slow-motion shot. <Goooth!> The psychic Pokemon shouted, catching the oblivious bird's attention. Dropping her own ball, Fenella seized the Delibird with her Telekinesis instead, yoinking it out of the way just in time as Razz's ball sailed perfectly into the 50 point slot in the top center of the rings.

Ding ding ding! Lights flashed merrily around the outside of the game. Delibird squawked indignantly as Fenella lowered it down. The two seemed to get in a heated argument, goth girl posturing and pointing and penguin stamping his webbed feet, before the Delibird reached into its tail-back and pulled out a wad of cash.

"Aha! Look what we have here!" Chryssa snatched it from the bird's flippers and immediately presented it to the attendant. "You said... 2 PokeDollars per three balls? This should be enough for, let's see..." She counted the bills, then set them on the counter, "Twenty-two balls. Can I have them, please?"

"...What are you planning?" The vendor asked flatly, reaching under the counter and pulling out an entire basket of wooden balls. "Knock yourself out." The girl actually buckled under their weight, barely managing to set them down on the ground. Chryssa straightened up again, managing a small smile.

"The finale," she said.

Despite having already let go of the ball Razz couldn't help but be tense at the sight that unfolded in front of him in what felt like slowmo. As a Delibird of all things decided to interrupt their game and give them both a gift. Distracting the Gothorita enough to allow his ball to enter the hole, the 'ding ding ding' catching him off guard as with the two pokemon in front of him he couldn't even see the result himself. Salem seemed to ask about breaking the two up but Razz just waves his hand dismissively as they were already dealing with one crazy, they probably shouldn't get in the way of more. [break][break]

As through most of their 'date' Razz remained silent, honestly looking just as confused if not more so than the vendor as she asked more more balls. "I've never played this, but I'm certain this isn't how its done," he comments clearly confused by the girl's intention. Did she want to divide this? Was she planning on throwing them all at once? The ranger can't help but look to the vendor in a questioning manor as surely he's dealt with crazy customers before right? [break][break]

"Is Salem suppose to block these?" he questions again hoping for some type of answer.

Chryssa struggled to contain her laughter, but it bubbled out anyway as she crouched awkwardly on the floor of the Skee Ball booth, counting out wooden balls. "I'm changing the rules again," she said lightly (as if that was a surprise). "I think we've been going about this all wrong! These 'Dates' are supposed to bring people together, not pit them against each other."

She pointed to one pile of approximately 12-13 balls. "Salem, Fenella-- these are yours." She pointed to the other pile in the basket, which she set on the end of the Skee Ball machine. "Razz Kingsman, these are ours. And so it begins! Will we be able to break through the psychic barrier to win glory and fame? Together?"

She liked saying his name. It had a proper ring to it.

"People vs. Pokemon!" she continued dramatically, gripping a wooden ball in each hand. "An unstoppable force meets an immovable object! Who will triumph?"

Huffing, arms crossed over her chest, the Gothorita levitated her half of the stock and set them hovering above the score posts. It was quite difficult to control 5-6 objects at once-- maybe Chryssa really had evened the odds.

"Now, together! This is our final stand!"

The Skee Ball stand immediately became chaos with two players rolling at once, firing balls one after another while glowing remotely-controlled defenders swarmed the goal posts. People began to stop on the street to watch in astonishment as wooden balls were knocked astray, some plopping into higher point value slots, others knocked completely back down the track for either trainer to scoop up and try again.

3... 2... 1...

She was out of ammo.

"And that's it!" Chryssa said. She let out her breath, turning to Razz with a radiant smile. She gestured up towards the scoreboard. "So how did we do, Razz Kingsman?"

Again the young lady had changed the deal, he could only pray she wouldn't do it again. He didn't plan on doing this in the first place, and he didn't really want to do it this new crazy way she had come up with. Salem was more excited to do so as he jumped down from his trainer's shoulder to be besides his fellow Psychic pokemon. He cheered with her about defeating the lazy humans. Razz didn't take long to ponder on how he hated all of them, but he felt like he was in too deep now to just walk away. [break][break]

So he went with it, but rather than quickly do it one after the other like the others seemed to do. The Ranger waited for his partner's ball to at least be in the air before he would try to roll his own, making sure that neither were interfering with the other the best he could. Salem meanwhile was seemingly trying to throw naturally rather than using his psychic abilities to get them in. Though as he kept doing one after the other without giving them a chance to even land the balls collided. One ricocheting back to his hand making him curse lightly as the wood hit his knuckle. [break][break]

At least it was over finally as he nursed his hand, the Ranger taking a glance at the score. Seems like with their attempts at working together rather than just blindly throwing did give them a few extra points ahead to help make up for only having 3 eyes on their team. "Looks like we're ahead.... Ummm good job this was...." Razz would have finished but Salem was quick to jump to his chest to get between the two trainers as the smile and excitement on the Meowstic's face clearly exclaiming his excitement and fun he had with the game. [break][break]

Razz pushed past Salem to get the cat moving off his chest and to where his tail wasn't being shoved in his mouth, "Yes..fun ummm," sure he probably wasn't happy about the crowd they got from their chaos but it wasn't bad, he gestures to his injured hand, "I should get this checked out, thank you miss Glasgow," he gives a small smile as he bows his head in both thanks and farewell before heading toward first aide.
