There is a temporary moment of rejuvination as the orbs of energy hit on the cinderace but it is only enough to keep sceptile in battle for a short period of time. This gives him an opportunity to make the most damage before going down.

“I know you want to get through this and I'm here with you! Give all your best, now!”

The glow from its body is still present, even more radiant on its leafy tail. However, the sceptile does not decide to do another life-draining attack. Instead, he stretches his limbs, feet setting on the ground as his arms exert effort to BULLDOZE once mopre into the earth just before the cinderace hits him with a powered tackle.

SCEPTILE heals from GIGA DRAIN.
SCEPTILE is hit by DOUBLE-EDGE. It deals normal damage.
SCEPTILE uses BULLDOZE. It will decrease the target's SPD upon hitting.

Stormy cups her hands over her mouth to shout over the roar of the earth being shovelled up again. The bulldoze meets the double-edge head-on because Cinderace is too far deep to pull out of it. They collide and Cinderace is left winded, battered and bruised.[break][break]

But he refocuses his attention on the opponents burns inflicted from his previous pyro ball. With more dirt and rocks surrounding him, this was the perfect opportunity to literally rub dirt in the wound - yes, it wasn't salt which was ar more accurate, but really hot sand could work too.[break][break]

With a burst of speed from his quick attack, Cinderace uses the momentum gained from the move to power up his next pyro ball, sending it off with a mighty kick. It grows in size, swallowing up the distance between him and the Sceptile.

Needless to say, Ascal already knows what's coming to him the moment the cinderace focuses on the minute detail of the match that others will let pass. It is even more obvious when the void that separates it from the gecko has been filled by the giant pyroball.

“That's enough!”

Selena calls then a red light suddenly engulfs the form of Ascalabus. His eyes, despite the obvious pain and exhaustion, are fierce even when called out.

“I know despite losing this round, my pokemon has learned a lot from your cinderace. That is really a spectacular match!”

She hurls another pokeball, Circe's form outlined by red manifests into the field.

“This is my partner, Circe. She'll by my last pokemon for this challenge and you earn the badge! Although I should warn you, she's been among the oldest in my team. She'll definitely give you a good time.”

As she finishes speaking, the vixen retrieves her wand and waves it to form a LIGHT SCREEN. Carnation shields glisten with the sunlight seeping from the courtyard's ceiling, allowing Stormy Silph and her pokemon to see it from a distance. The circles it make with the staff becomes smaller and smaller, but its edge continues to radiate with the same glow (FUTURE SIGHT). As it finishes, the pokemon aims the staff against the cinderance, waiting for its attack.

SCEPTILE is called out.
Selena sends DELPHOX.

Cinderace crumbles to his knee after the pyro ball is launched. Winded, exhausted, and bruised, he hesitates as the field changes. Light warps and shifts, morphing into a screen. There is a glint in the eyes of the Delphox, and that same glow manifests in the wand it carries. The fire at the end of it bursts, swallowed in psychic energy.[break][break]

"And I believe Cinderace has learned a lot - never to underestimate thy enemy."[break][break]

Stormy winks, amused at her own attempt at a joke.[break][break]

However, something unnerves the bunny, and Stormy finds him retreating from the field to stand beside her. It flops down onto his butt, leaning onto his back and heaving a sigh.[break][break]

"Looks like Cinderace has had his fill, if that's alright. Circe can tackle Aegislash, however, I'm sure!"[break][break]

She flicks another pokeball out, revealing the shiny sword and shield Pokemon. In the sun, his metal positively sparkles.[break][break]

"Be cautious, Aegislash. I know you've experienced your fair share of burns, so just take it slow."[break][break]

The Aegislash makes a noise of understanding, and a sheen of iron defense hardens his figure. He floats forward, his eyes following the Delphox with eerie accuracy. He then lunges unexpectedly, sword unsheathing to bite down with a sacred sword.

Selena observes as the opponent backs down and lets her teammate take one for the team.

“I know he would.”

Circe braces for the attack, her hands finding comfort at her wand which does not only serve as a medium of her powers but also a defensive strategy. Her buffs have probably no effect with the more physical nature of the aegislash's attacks, but it is for them to see what their skills are also capable of with these kinds of opponents.

The energy from the psychic screen minimizes into her stick, covering the wand with a luminous pink glow that aids in blocking the ghost sword's attack. And as soon as it makes contact with the vixen, the delphox begins emit a fiery energy, sending a blast of HEAT WAVE.

There is a great crash as the Aegislash's steel sword makes contact with the Delphox's light screen. He hits so hard at such a focused point that the impact damages the barrier the fire-type has put between them. And the moment flames begin to expand from the source, Aegislash vanishes.[break][break]

He reappears, phasing through the break in the shield to perform a shadow sneak against the bipedal fox. Ghostly energy manifests around him as he becomes a solid figure, his sword-forme boosting his prowess in combat. Because of his quick-thinking, the heat wave scorches the ground, but he appears on the other side, through the break in the screen, virtually unscathed.[break][break]

"Wooo! That's what I'm talking about!"[break][break]

She makes a display with her hands to enunciate her excitement, and the Aegislash seems to hum with approval.

But when the sword pokemon connects with her wand, it immediately disappears when the wave of fire is produced. It sneaks up behind her and lunges with a powered attack but the delphox easily retracts the fire with her psychic power, molding the wisps into a corporeal form similar to her figure.

“Circe also has a lot of tricks in mind.”

It is very rare for her to use this move, because when she does it takes a lot for her to control these wisps. The flames surround the vixen in a giant ball of fire, COVEN LEX TALIONIS being summoned into the field to assist the fox. Afterwards, the heat subsides, revealing delphox with two flame bodies beside her.

And then Stormy Silph and the aegislash will find that they have attacked fire.

DELPHOX has LIGHT SCREEN (2/5).

FIRE BODY is hit by SHADOW SNEAK. It dissipates.

It was a fantastical move that she had never seen before, and she trained a Delphox of her own. Stormy's eyes widen in surprise. Aegislash blasts through the first fire body. It is hot-- too hot against his metal hide, and he instinctively condenses again with another iron defense.[break][break]

And he shudders as the fires dissipate. The sword and shield Pokemon waits for further instruction, or rather-- knows what that instruction will already be.[break][break]

"Hold, Aegislash."[break][break]

Which he does, waiting patiently for the fire fox to send those fire clones after him.

“Apparently, it is a potential unlocked only by those fennekins and the likes that grows in Kalos.”

A hidden potential unlocked with a lot of training and connection with one's pokemon. Selena understands her need to become cautious, especially with a power that she has not seen before.

“I believe it is something that even other delphoxes can learn as well.”

But contrary to what Stormy Silph is thinking, Circe does not use her 'clones' yet. The vixen lunges with an attempt to close in her distance with the steel ghost, her wand gleaming with dark shimmer as it keeps the SHADOW BALL on its tip. The delphox closes in, her fire bodies dance around her before she hits the enemy with her stick.

Stormy purses her lips as she studies the two remaining bodies of fire that have taken shape to resemble a Delphox. They move in sync with the real one, though neither of them act out of turn. [break][break]

"They are defensive, Aegislash, not offensive - at least right now. Be cautious."[break][break]

There is a groan of agreement or understanding, and the Aegislash holds still when the shadow ball is launched. But closing the distance is precisely what the Aegislash is waiting for, and when the Delphox departs from the two clones, the sword and shield shadow sneaks through the incoming shadow ball. [break][break]

It reappears on the other side unscathed, patient, and prepared.[break][break]

"Again."[break][break]

Aegislash's sword-forme remains unsheathed as it charges toward one, and then the other, flame body with a repeated attack of shadow sneak.

The curious fire bodies' impetus are ones that depend on the order of their host: that if delphox is in danger, they will be the one that takes the fall for it. However, it is not to say that they cannot do harm into her opponent. Because most certainly, they are designed with the thinking that offense is the greatest defense.

After all, a witch is more powerful when she is with her coven.

“Do the trick now!”

Selena expects as much that the aegislash will do that trick again. After all, it wages attack that are more physical in nature. However, it is just the opportunity she needs to fully demonstrate what this z-move is all about.

It shadow sneaks towards the shadow ball, but the moment it forces itself against it has it bursting with an intense HEAT WAVE targeting the vicinity.

“Lunge at the aegislash!”

The second shadow sneak will find itself connecting with the fire body, similar to how the previus one dissipates after being tackled by the sword pokemon but only to realize it has also prepared itself to detonate upon being contacted.

Stormy's attention is fixed, and she can see the sheen of her Aegislash's king's shield shifting as he forces himself through the first fire-body. It explodes with a wash of heat wave, but the heat is negated-- no, absorbed by the shield. Rather than deflect, the heat wave becomes one with the shield, the blistering heat held fast to the metal.[break][break]

And in the process, a destiny bond is fastened to the real Delphox, seeking out flesh and blood, a beating heart. It ties the two entities together, a final promise. The Aegislash was preparing for something big, and eliminating the fear of defeat. [break][break]

Stormy Silph dealt in absolutes. She had to be better, she would be better.

Selena suspects as much that there is something more than the aegislash's king's shield. It doesn't move; it doesn't budge. It lets itself a target as the delphox remains standing, planning for her next course of action.

“Target it with SHADOW BALL again!”

This time, however, the phantasmal energy ball is launched from a considerate distance. Her wand's tip gathers what remains of the other fire body, strengthening the power of the attack as the orb grows bigger.

“Launch!”

The dust settles, and Aegislash remains stock still. He is patient, he is measured, he is unbroken.[break][break]

And when the shadow ball comes, overpowering and intense, Stormy sets her jaw and does not budge either. Rather, she digs her heels into the ground in anticipation, her breathing measured.[break][break]

"HOLD!"[break][break]

The earlier future sight collides at the same time as the shadow ball, but Aegislash's kings shield holds fast. It is a testament to his strength and to his resolve. And when the two super-charged moved connect, his shield absorbs the impact only to overcharge.[break][break]

No one is safe from the blast, not even the trainers.[break][break]

The z-move: aegis ignition stretches outward like a shield wall, expanding, absorbing every attack that threatens to penetrate its barrier. Like a sonic squeal from one of those sci-fi movies, it is ear piercing in its volume. Stormy claps her hands over her ears.[break][break]

It feels like minutes have passed, but it happens in a matter of seconds. The shield wall explodes outward like a nuke, eating up the ground in a sonic boom, super-charged to reflect all of the damage Aegislash's shield had taken. It smashes windows, tears apart trees, demolishes and levels the battlefield. [break][break]

Stormy blinks, seemingly astonished.
