"Now the trick is to avoid the purple ones," Zac said, holding his Morelull up to the Oran bush. Nearby, Turtonator was smashing against a tree, trying to knock some nuts or fruit from the high branches.
"When they're red, they're still developing and will give you a terrible stomach ache. Many a seasoned nature expeditionaire has suffered the wrath of an unripe Oran."
They had been searching for twenty minutes now, but in the middle of winter it was slim pickings. Zac longed for chocolate and marshmallows, but at this rate they may have to make do with sticks and rocks.

"I think I saw a chick 'suffer the wrath' once." Chu-e replied idly, holding up one of the Oran to his eye. He squinted at it before tossed it back, the berry caught in the mouth of his excited Slurpuff. Snacks was happy to act as their garbage disposal given that most adverse effects from eating unripened berries wouldn't hurt him.

Meanwhile, his Granbull was busy snuggling around looking for mushrooms. Whenever she caught the scent of something, she would tear it from the tree bark or out of the ground. Sometimes, she even went as far as to dig holes in her search. But, honestly, Chu-e thought she was maybe just having a bit of fun when she did that...

THEME

The food they were collecting was...dubious, but with Zac's mastery of nature's bounty, and a healthy application of fire and salt, they would get to eat tonight. Turtonator whomped away at a fresh bush, setting a startled Charmander screeching into the night.
"Oh shit! I promised Devin I'd get him a Charmander!"
Zac turned to Ki to explain. "I got my cameraman a Charmeleon as an apology for ignoring him, and he hasn't been with me on many adventures lately, so he's been getting all grumpy about it."
That didn't make a lot of sense.
"It's fine, don't worry about it. But I do need that Charmander!"
Zac send out Zappa, and the Heliolisk crackled off into the darkness, pursuing the Charmander. Zac looked down at their half-full basket of nuts, berries, seeds, bark and mushrooms. "Time to get cooking, yeah?"

"I don't always understand you." Chu-e replied, pausing to watch as the Heliolisk ran ofter the frightened fire type. "We could eat the Charmander." The way he said it, it was hard to tell if he was serious or not.

Dropping a berry, Chu-e leaned down to pick it up only to almost grab onto a Slugma, who was very stealthily hiding. It.... was..... moving..... very..... very.... slow.... ly.... for.... the..... berry......

So Chu-e tossed a pokeball at it. Ka-ching! He could sell this little bastard for some sweet cash later. Hell yeah. Afterward, he followed after Zac Ramsay to see what he would make from this mess.

"Are you and your cameraman dating?"

"I mean, probably. Unless I do something dumb. Like lick what I shouldn't and get sick. You know." Which is exactly what would happen. Zac Ramsay would surely understand.

"I wouldn't say that it's the same thing," Zac said, showing a rare moment of dissent, "but we are pretty close. Let's just say I've seen his lens caps, if you know what I mean."
There was a jet of flame from a nearby bush and a flash of red light that pulled in another catch. A hungry Magmortar, probably.
"That's great news!" boomed Zac. Even if it wasn't the blind date that he and Chryssa had planned, it was a joy just to hear that Ki was putting himself out there. "Hmmm, now that's an idea...but it's hard to get hold of Chryssa. Last time I invited her to hang out she made me answer a riddle and give her 20pd, so let's make it worth it." Zac thought for a moment, and a smile crept onto his face.
"Lets do both at the same time. You know, a double date."

Chu-e glanced to the side in just enough time to see a Solrock get sucked in by one of the traps. He had recently traded a Solrock he had gotten elsewhere... this would be a good make up for it. He didn't really want to keep it, but he felt like something good might happen if he kept a hold of it for a while.

"This sounds like the setup of that one game show... instead of a date, let's arrange a fight, and whoever is the strongest gets to go on a date with me." His lips twitched a bit at the thought. "I bet Chryssa would be more than eager to come for that. Might not even make us solve a riddle."

There was a flash of light and Chu-e squinted out into the darkness, seeing it was an unsuspecting Shuckle who got trapped by the cake-pokeballs. Just as well.

"For me? Nah not at the moment. Career's just starting to kick off, and I'm spending more and more time working. Honestly I like it that way. I'm not looking to settle down, or even looking for..." he gestured vageuly, trying to find the right words. "Anything, right now, though there has been a bit of interest lately."
