"Didn't your mother teach you to keep your hands off of a lady and her pokemon?" she shouted at him, flustered that ANOTHER opponent was joining the fray with her rilaboom. A monkey, a small and more nimble one was able to land it's mach punch on the larger creature. Rilaboom got back up in a rage and picked up the drumset and swung it at the infernape twice as melody called out the move "Double hit! Rilla!" as rilaboom swung left to right then right to left as infernape was most likely still within striking range of the true king of the jungle. "How about you join Serperior and dance with us too, lets see if you can dodge our super sound!" she said as rillaboom put the drumset back down and began to tap the sides again in a strange rhythm and melody danced to the song again as a supersonic was launched out trying to confuse infernape.

He acknowledged Zac's praise with an admission of a hole in his own knowledge.

"That Leaf Guard was well played, I was really hoping to make a statement about how vicious a Croagunk's toxins were. You mostly foiled that with one move." He watched Dose look on as the Tangrowth sucked up the life out of the vegetation around it to heal.

"I imagine being born and raised in Slateport living around so many humans gave him the mind to improvise and use his surroundings to his advantage." Croagunk maintained his stoic pokerface but the Ranger knew he needed to swing the things back to his side. "Speaking of."

Sénon made a loud whistle to get Dose's attention and with a a few hand gestures and a target to point at, the Croagunk had new orders.

"When all else fails and it seems like the entire jungle is out to get you..." Dose was running out of options. Frogs were usually a bit more stationary that he'd been so far in this contest.

His injuries weren't grave but the giga drain zapped away what power he had left.

But all hope wasn't lost, the sunny day inspired the resident fire-trainer and Sénon had begun to grin, giving Dose the confidence to trust his leadership and fight on. "When you've exhausted all your attacks and defenses and there's no where else left to hide." Jetting away from the slow motions of the Tangrowth with a powerful leap the Dose returned to the center of the battlefield. "There is one last thing you can do, in order to survive and only the most intelligent species are capable of it."

With a jostling thud he landed on the shoulder of Kazimir Wynter 's Infernape, careful to remain positioned on its armor so as not to poison it. With a croakfaced thumbs up at its earlier rival the battletoad proposed a truce and even gave the 'armored-monferno' a gift.

SWAGGERING about the primate's shoulders might confuse the firefighter a little but would also sharpen its fighting edge and raise its attack power considerably.

"Two species coming together to cover each other's weaknesses or simply augment each other's strengths gives both partners success and viability beyond the sum of their parts!"

The SWAGGERING effects of the Croagunk would protect the Infernape from Rillaboom's supersonic. That froggy support under the Sunny Day provided by Tangrowth would make Infernape the most powerful pokemon in play.

Spitting a TOXIC blast at the Rillaboom; Dose was just along for the ride.

Sénon yelled out to Kazimir in the distance.

"SYMBIOTIC STRIKE!"

Crap crap crap, melody was taking on too much heat. Everyone was coming after her and she had to make a quick get away. She saw the toxicroak coming at her rilaboom so she quickly grabbed onto rilaboom's back "Rila! hoist us up!" she said as it leapt into the air with it's drum set and vines came and grabbed onto the pair as it pulled them into the tree lines in an attempt to get out of the way of croagunk's toxic. This was where melody's plan came into action, remember those leaves from earlier that she shook off of the tree? Welp it was time to use them now. Melody and rilaboom grabbed onto the tree together, mimicking each other's poses when melody then blew him a kiss and he lept off with his drum set "RILA! RAZOR LEAF!" she commanded as the leaves in the on the floor and in the tree line above began to glow.

"GOGI: AS ABOVE, SO BELOW." the leaves that melody shook off from before and from rilaboom's previous razor leaf still embedded in the trees and the ones he shook off from the earlier's hyper voice began to fly downward and the ones from the tree line rained down on them creating a pincer attack as rilaboom was going to make a crash landing.

as two primates fought one another the infernape underestimated his larger opponent's strength as he was struck by the rillaboom's fists and soundwaves that knocked him back a fair amount of steps. as he struggled to get back to standing height he felt the weight of something land on his shoulders and the sight of a familiar croagunk was a confusing one even for kazimir as he was approached by the toxic frog's trainer who decided to lend a hand. 

well the intention was there but the execution might have been better.

the infernape felt the swagger build through him, pumping him up as he glared at the rillaboom escaping into the trees above and bringing down a storm of leaves on the duo. this made the infernape's blood boil to a point where his body began to feel hot to the touch, even his skin seemed to turn more red before it all exploded into a screeching monkey that erupted into flames as his BLAZE ability kicked in and the monkey's flames erupted into the brightest and hottest they have ever been since starting this contest.

with his vision focused on the rillaboom escaping the infernape started to wildly screech and jump around in anger as he scrambled towards a tree and halfways up jumped off and clung onto vine and swung his way towards his target while kazimir stood there on the jungle floor amazed and a little bit anxious at what was happening. "well...thanks for the pep talk...man, but i think it might have worked too well. any-anyway lets go majima, AMAZON PENDULUM...TOXIC VERSION!" he cried out as his infernape swung from its vine and tucked itself into a ball of flames that spun on the end of the vine aiming this flying flame wheel at Melody Miro and her giant gorilla.

Okay, maybe Caelia was observing a little too much because as she was making herself safe up in the trees, everything was literally going batshit insane.

And to add on top of that, the Infernape was literally—going—apeshit, for a lack of better wording. Scoffing to herself, she looked around, wondering where Lars was—and eventually spotting her spiky-haired human, who was busy talking to something… wait.

Lars, at that moment decided to look up and saw that Caelia was staring at him. Covering the mouthpiece, he then looked up at her, before gesturing at the Infernape with a look.

“Go nuts, Cae,” was all he said, before nodding her way.

Perfect.

Now that she had been given free rein to do whatever she wanted, she waited until the Infernape had finished charging up, before taking hold of a vine and swinging down from the treetops, looking very much like a glaring Tarzan who was incredibly pissed.

Fire-type attacks in the forest?! Inexcusable!

Just for that, the Tsareena quickly released another blast of cloyingly-sickeningly Sweet Scent (mostly aimed at the Infernape’s direction) before suddenly disappearing—only to re-emerge once again with an attempted Trop Kick to the head!

It was her, getting mad, screeching in Pokéspeak, ‘Don’t burn the forest down, you idiot!’

As hot and heavy as things were getting Dose found himself blessed with the benefit of not having the DRY SKIN some Croagunk had. The harder his new partner fought the more heat its body gave off, drying out the frog. It was uncomfortable but it wasn't painful. Not yet.

In exchange for built in protection from the tangled up attacker down by the river, Dose had spurred the firetype into higher power. He would have used another less mind-altering means to help, one that allowed the Infernape to keep its cool if he had such a move. SWAGGER was the best he could do to give a boost to his other.

Of course there was still his fighting ability he could use to make himself of use in their current symbiotic circumstance.

It had been a long struggle and he barely wanted it at this point but still as the Tsareena aimed to kick the flaming monkey's head off, the Croagunk remembered wanting to spar with the aggressive-kicker and moved to intervene on her attack.

The infernape had been moving about so fast and with such force Dose could barely keep his bearings but he managed to grab hold of a loose vine that tore off from a ways down, dead and drying out. Wrapping the vine around his right fist the croagunk set it ablaze with Infernape's excessive headflames.

Leaping off Majima in a timing that increased the spin of its flame wheel Croagunk moved to take the Tsareena's kick...

POWAH, GET THA POWAHHH!

-delivering a flaming punch in REVENGE before the force of her trop kick sent him flying away.

The rules were explained and Sénon couldn't help but smirk. It curled the corner of his lips so hard he almost exposed his Pearly Whites.

He doubted he could have thought of a better contest with a gun to his head and that was despite running the Pokémon SMASH series.

Outside of contests and gym badges, Zac would make for one hell of a ranger if he ever set his eyes on it given his propensity for the environment and how pokémon integrated into it. Likely, being in charge of a gym was taxing enough, so the Elite Ranger didn't anticipate seeing his fellow redhead take on any ranger rankings anytime soon.

He was surprised it was Doug's awarded bonus he received. The youngster hadn't signed up for the rangers after his special invite to the Ranger's reception. He did hope it wasn't their shared connection to Cait to granted him such favor.

Shaking it off he decided he trusted Doug to be on the line and quickly accepted he'd gotten the boon because he'd earned it; because Dose had earned it.

After hearing the rules of the third round he took off to find the royal Croagunk. His aquamarine counterpart croagunk tagged along for the experience but was prohibited from helping.

By the time he found Dose the worn frog was sitting under a waterfall at the end of a mossy stream enjoying his solitude. For a second Sénon could have sworn he didn't look happy to see his human but then again Dose was wearing the same face he always did.

With the sparkling waters washing down over his pokémon the lush greens of the encroaching jungle was easier for the Kantonian to appreciate.

With search parameters Dose went about looking around the mouth of the waterfall for anything shiny while Sénon went up and around to search the drop of the waterfall.

The water was clear enough to search with his eyes in most places and search with his hands through the more tawny-muddy bits. Even amongst the mushy moss covered formations some rocky formations looked more inviting for hiding places than others.

The search was actually two-fold.

The ranger not only looking for coins he anticipated to be golden but also for the right plants to make a bit of salve for Dose's wounds from round two. If they were going to be coin-hunting for a while, he didn't want the more nasty cuts, nor the purple-ing burn on Dose's right arm to get any worse.

Cait hadn't taught him much about herbalist tricks in the wild but after their time on the island he learned enough to try.

After a short venture at the bottom of the waterfall's pool he brought his findings to Sénon and together they entered a cave hidden behind the wall of cascading water.

After getting knocked back by one of the amphibians (how rude) the Tsareena huffed at the Croagunk who had interrupted her attempted rampage on the Infernape. Such a rude little ass!

Turning to face the spiky-haired human, she let out another impatient huff, before mercifully—he noticed her. While the words that he had mentioned to her went over her own little head, the intent was certain. It was time to search through the undergrowth!

Taking the lead, the Tsareena huffed as she stomped through the area, looking around for something, anything—that was spicy enough for her wandering eye to pick out.

Looking over her shoulder to make sure that her human was following her, she made her way over to a mossy section where there was water running through. It was a watering hole. Short, but sufficient enough for her to start poking through the foliage with her foot.

Brushing aside more of the greenery as she went, she eventually spotted something and snatched it up in her palms, before wandering over to where the human was waiting by the mossy stream.

Was it shiny enough for him to pass examination? Only time would tell.

“Nicely done, Cae,” Lars said as he kept an eye on the Tsareena as she returned with something sparkling in her hold after watching her search through the immediate area.

While it was a little damp and smelled like mold due to the stream running through it, they managed to find something.

“That’s one for us.”

Having found two coins near the stream they were off to a great start.

He decided to take his time in the searching as he didn't feel there to be a time limit against the others.

As they ventured deeper into the space behind the waterfall, Sénon called for his contest partner to halt. "Hold up, 'battletoad'." Crouching down he placed a large 'foliage wrap' before the Croagunk to spit a small amount of a thick mucus into the mixture already there.

Moss and thick mud from the stream with fresh water to thin its viscosity sat in the wrap mixed with a thick twig.

He wasn't able to find a proper flower or yarrow plant to mix into the salve for antiseptic but a small amount of the Croagunk's own toxins would do more help than harm in terms of cleaning the wounds beyond a water-washing.

Tearing the wrap into pieces the Ranger examined the cuts on his croagunk applying the salve to the deepest wounds like a wild-made bandage lined with ointment.

Dose seemed soothed by the application so for now he had to assume it would work until they could get to a pokémon center.

As they walked and searched behind the waterfall as far as the light would allow Sénon's voice echoed off the walls.

"You an did amazing back there in that free-for-all." Rubbing the back of his head Dose took the compliments in stride. "I am terribly proud of you Dos." Sitting there with his fighting wounds patched up with makeshift bandages he seemed like a real warrior of the untamed.

Not bad for a city-frog from a back alley of Slateport.

With the light from his cellphone Sénon over turned stones and looked carefully for possible coins hidden in the cracks in the walls. The hard rock flooring didn't leave much room for hiding places but he did find a nest that looked particular interesting. With no pokémon to guard it he searched inside quickly with a light to see if there was any metallic reflection from the inside.

The nest gave him an idea.

When he thought of Murkrow he thought more of a city or woodlands area than their current locale but even still searching the under canopies where the birds nested might be worth a look next, if he didn't find anything here.

Maybe there was a native bird species that also liked shiny things.

as the light of the bright and shining yellow sun cut through the canopy of the jungle the many arms of the different trees around blocked out most of it with their green leaves. so instead of bright light showering the land below instead its bombarded by smaller rays of light that dotted the jungle floor. a larger target of these rays was a sleeping snorlax who's blue fur glistened in the sunlight as its loud snores echoed throughout the jungle. 

up above it the branches rustled vigorously as the forms of kazimir's blonde hair and his infernape's red flames peeked out of their hiding spot from within and their gaze focused on the sleeping giant. "alright so lets review, we're hunting coins here and we found one before that plump little bear decided to sleep on it. talk about a challenge huh?" kazimir spoke his thoughts out loud with his monkey partner nodding along with each point he brought up, it sounded like a tough challenge for sure but it didn't seem like something that was impossible for them.

they retreated back into the branches and started to sort through a bundle of berries that they had gathered from all around them tying various green vines to each of them while the infernape would sneak away any pink nanab berries for himself which earned a glare and a huff from his trainer. "c'mon man don't eat all of them. that's our bait! now help me out here will ya?" with a roll of the eyes the infernape decided to quit snacking and start acting on their plan as he raised a few of their lines of bait to his head to grill a few berries on his flames before lowering them down on the vines to the snorlax and wave them around in front of its nose , the sweet aromas of them reaching its nostrils as it began to sniff the air while in its sleep and started to stir. 

finally it seemed to awaken with a yawn and sit upright as its face brushed up against a few of the berries dangling in front of it, its large mouth already scooping up a few of them into it. kazimir was quick to act and dropped down from his perch in the tree using a vine as a rope. landing on the ground right behind the snorlax he got to work searching the grass for this supposed coin that they were looking for only to realize that the world around him was slowly starting to turn black as the shadow and form of the snorlax were quickly upon him. not even a scream escaped his lips before being squashed underneath the large pokemon. majima the infernape could only view the horrific fate of his trainer with his jaw dropped so low it might as well touch the jungle floor.

The small space behind the waterfall didn't seem large enough to hide much of anything.

It was clearly a nesting grounds for something given he'd found the nest. Seemingly a perfect place to hide a coin or two the pair searched the nest twice over with no results.

What was strange was that the nest was empty, no coins no chicks no cubs. It wasn't his first thought that the nest had been recently raided and the babies inside stolen but the small mound of excrement near the barren nest didn't bode well.

Noticing the white color of the droppings Sénon's face dropped into an expression equally as shitty.

With his phone's flashlight he scanned the ceilings of the small cave-like space...
...only to notice a plump ⁽

⁾ hanging from the ceiling; tiny bits of white fur stuck to its maw.

Flapping with a scree it detached from the ceiling attacking the Ranger with its POISON FANGS only to be countered with REVENGE and a follow up BULLET PUNCH.

The fighting move didn't seem to bother it much but the steeled-punches from a trained pokémon sent it to flee, bursting through the waterfall, out into the jungle. Turning his attention back to the white poo pile Sénon didn't like the places his mind took him.

Against his better judgement his drive to win made him search the mound of guano for any coins that might have fallen into the golbat's massive mouth only to come out the other side.
The bat-attack's commotion attracted attention as a ⁽

⁾ burrowed into the space from a corner the Ranger thought was solid rock but seemed to be a more permeable sediment.

Spotting a human and croagunk the nincada quickly returned from where it came.
The arrival of a territorial mammal; a ⁽ Shiny Zangoose

⁾ none too pleased to see the pair, blocked their exit to the waterfall entryway.

Covered in fur that was blue in places it was supposed to red and covered in wet-red in places where it should have been white the Cat Ferret Pokémon snarled at them holding the greater portion of a Golbat carcass in its claws.

Its cold stare allowed the Ranger to piece together whom this waterfall-cave was a nesting ground for. "Uh-oh."

Once they were done searching the nearby stream, it was time to look elsewhere—well, if the scent of ripening fruit didn’t distract them first!

The Tsareena looked around, and huffed for a few moments. Clearly there was something—or some kind of Pokémon—nearby, due to the fact that she could pick up a distinctively earthy, musky aroma coming from the general direction of the clearing they were headed in.

“Hm? Something up?” he asked the Tsareena, to which she gave him a glare—and then held one of her arms back.

The overpowering stench that smelled like overripe bananas was more than enough to tip off the Tsareena’s senses that there was something dangerous nearby—

As the two had very nearly walked straight into a grove full of rotten berries. Oh, hell, the stench of decaying fruit flesh was more than enough to make Lars gag!

Adding insult to injury, he wasn’t watching where he was going—and the terrifying odor of Pokémon droppings added to the disgusting brewing pot that literally stank like fermenting beer that had been left out in the sun for far too long.

“H—hurry up, Cae, let’s get the hell out of here,” he said, muffled as he quickly covered his nose to stop the overpowering stench from overwhelming his senses as the Tsareena searched the nearby area.

Phew, that stinks!

majima dived into the river with little effort thanks to his slender body although the bit of steam that erupted form where he landed would probably say otherwise. the negatives of being a fire type in water and all that. still he powered through the stinging sensation it left him with as he fought against the current that was fighting against him. if they were looking all over the jungle for coins then it was a safe bet that a few of them might be in the river so the monkey decided to volunteer himself to sift through any that they found.

it would be an easy job if not for the ravenous fish that lived in some of these rivers that would try and take a bite out of the infernape. he's had to deal with so many now that he came in holding onto a bundle of vines as he dived into the one he was searching currently. it was a useful tool that he managed to use to create the search a little easier as it helped drive off the carvahnas that biting around.

speaking of which a school of them were following the current down towards majima who just smirked at the sight of them. they were just another group of poor suckers who didn't know who they were messing with. as he saw the white of their teeth gnashing against each other the monkey twirled in the water and threw out the vines he was holding and watched as it spread out into a woven net that stretched to nearly each side of the wall, making it large enough to catch nearly ll of the carvanahs that came at him, at least those he could handle himself with.
