”Ah thank you sir, I’ve been making them myself lately as they wee getting pricey,” he admits, even if money was no longer an issue for him. Tthere was almost a small hint of pride there for it as he never felt himself good with much. Though it feels like it goes out the window when asked about other ways he could have done it. Was the poke lock not enough? Should he be doing other ways? Razz may have been thinking the wrong way, but with how often he had been put down as a kid it was always the thing his mind went to. How what he did was never good enough. In his head he’s trying to think it over as to what Tangrowth would want, ”Ummm..” he ponders as he tries to think of all he knows about them, ”They like the trees and umm.... I know they often use their arms for swinging and sometimes move that way?” he is silent for a moment as he thinks a bit more, ”Maybe propose a game?” he answers in more a question than something real. If he had not brought himself down already there might have been more confidence there but it was a bit late for that. [break][break]

For now he just watches in awe as Zac calls out into the woods after point out the dark pokemon. Razz is highly confused, not even seeming to understand the wink the older Ranger gave him as he went on about how they were horrible lost. But they weren’t? Razz is about to say something but Salem is quick to push at his head to stop the rookie from messing with the other’s strategy as unlike him the cat could pick up on the subtle cues that left the young man confused. So he stood quite, even if nothing made any sense in terms of the Shiftry’s tricky nature. Doesn’t that mean asking for help would make it worse? Shouldn’t he say something? But it was clear Salem said no so maybe Zac knew this? [break][break]

If Razz were more on the comedic side of life he might have the larger on top the smaller pokemon much funnier than he did. Though since he was a stick in the mud all he could do was stare at it and gives a simple "Huh neat," in response as he looks confusingly at the Tangrowth that had agreed to help him. As he wasn't sure how to climb on exactly, would he sink into the vines?[break][break]

As if reading his thoughts two vines come off the Tangrowth's back inviting the younger trainer to climb up so he just just that to climb onto their back. Its a bit uncomfortable has he could feel the vines wrap around him like a seatbelt because safety! Salem moves himself to be right up on top rather than just want to sit on the other's back. A vine also wraps itself around Salem to protect the small cat as Zac counts them off. The cat starts some little trash talking because of course he would before they were off. It's a slow start as the Tangrowth is slowly running as their speed wasn't the best. [break][break]

"Hey don't need to hold back on our account," Razz tells them as Salem seems to be going off about going faster and faster! He isn't sure what the grass pokemon says in response be just like that their arms outstretch toward a branch before launching themselves like a sling shot forward.

Turns out the slingshot idea was indeed a very bad idea. As while on the outside it looked fine, the second they got up some flying pokemon were in the way. Razz was quick to react, much more so than the Tangrowth he was riding as he pulled on vines on the grass pokemon's head. And as if he were the rat on top of a chef's head Razz was able to get the vine pokemon to move out of the way of the Swallow that passed by. Though the sudden movement did make them falter as the fell back below the trees, Razz grunting though the twigs and branches that scraped them before Tangrowth got back enough control to grab onto the tree before completely falling down. "Maybe swinging would be better?" Razz suggest as a better way to start and the Tangrowth does just that, not waiting a repeat of it right away. It used it's long arms to slowly get a swinging pace before going faster. Though with it's large body speed was a problem in the race.

Salem was growing bored, this was the slowest race, or all time. He would even look back to his trainer and say the same thing, but it had been safer. Especially after the first chance to sling themselves into the sky. It was faster, but risky and at the moment he didn't want that. Though with the slower pace it was easier to take in the scenery and he has to pull on vines again. "Halt!" he orders and the Tangrowth is forced to stop and it looks toward the ranger on his head. Questioning why they asked him to stop before the blind ranger pointed toward deerling in the net hooked on a tree. Seems like it had fallen into a trap, poacher like, "Won't be long," he says before looking to Salem with a nod. Razz uses his knife to cut the rope before Salem uses his psychic to stop the fall. After the Deerling is sent on her way he would go back to the Tangrowth both apologizing and thanking them for waiting. [break][break]

The meowstic looked confused and seemed to be asking about the race as the Tangrowth was sent back on their way, getting closer toward the camp as they did so. "We were going pretty slow anyways, nothing wrong with an extra few minutes," he explains and while Salem doesn't mind why they stopped at all he still gonna pout because how could he face his dragon rider buddy angelo vestri after this loss!?

"Thanks for waiting," he'd smile at the Tangrowth who waves at him as if it weren't a problem. Which was good because he still needed them for this sad excuse of a race. As much as they were thankful for the grass pokemon they were just too slow. Climbing on he would inform them of the direction they would need to go and once more the Tangrowth would attempt the slingshot attempt again. This time no bird pokemon getting in the way. [break][break]

Up in the air the grass pokemon is surprisingly more agile with the way it uses it's long arms for travel. Finally their destination is in sight, though he's sure he's lost this second attempt at a promotion of his. The Tangrowth lands worn out with the race. "Thanks for your help there," he nods as he gives the rainbow pokeblock as promised. Already the elite ranger was here so now to see what he had to say.
