his head tilts back briefly to look at the approaching golett. the sight is warm to see, and it brings a smile to his face.

his offer is remembered. tucked away and kept safe despite whatever walls she tries to build between them. is it just her or do they keep falling?

her smile is affectionate when her attention returns to him. her newest golett is happily tucked into her side, a soft rumble escaping from the baby automaton. she'll remember this fondly and not just because of the clay babies.

happy meets warm, melting into sugar and molded into affectionate tones. if she keeps smiling like this, her cheeks will begin to ache. and yet, it's hard not to.

"you have a golurk?" pale hair sways slightly into smoochy boo's slumbering form as her head tilts. "and you want me to name it?"

the smile grows wider, brighter.

"i'm touched."

he can think of no one else who's more familiar with the pokemon species than her. but that's not the main reason he wants her to name it. perhaps the thought of sharing yet another thing or another moment with her is what draws him in.

far behind them, near the stairs, a mr. mime trips down, knocking its head against the ground long before dusknoir has a chance to throw out an attack. with nothing left to do, it simply drops a pokeball on the psychic-type, adding it to matias' circus.

”there’s a few better suited,” she offers softly.

would she want him to pick them, though? no. absolutely not. there’s a greediness to the way she seeks his company, his attention. it’s not enough to simply share one memory. she wants to share more.

”i’ll do it if you want me to.” the smile is tentative, uncertain, as if she doesn’t believe he would.

a froslass wanders over. with it comes a chilly breeze. she shivers slightly and the pokemon cuddled together press a little closer for warmth. and maybe the froslass feels a little bad for she approaches the group with her head dipped apologetically. illeana’s head turns and the smile she wears takes hold a little easier, spreading until it’s warmer. she shifts a hand to pat the open space beside her newest golett and the froslass settles in an elegant sweep.

briefly, his dusknoir wanders back over to drop a few pokeballs onto matias. he reaches up to stop them from falling off his body, pocketing them after before giving dusknoir a firm nod of gratitude. dusknoir disappears again, keeping watch.

his head tilts back to find her gaze.

"okay," she murmurs. a thought rises and she's plucking it from the air with her teeth. her fingers are too occupied with his hair. "could i meet your golurk?"

actually, she might try to steal it... maybe not a good idea but if he doesn't let her, she might cry. choose wisely?

another thought dawns. she's speaking it into existence without considering otherwise.

"why do you want to name your golurk?" is it in honor of her and her little phantom force army? they're called the phantom forces fyi.

or, perhaps, she somehow managed to learn cute charm and happily used it on him. is your status now infatuation, sir?

maybe not a good idea, but he agrees regardless, calling out his golurk who immediately fills up the space behind them. it's smaller than illie's, and yet it still needs to crouch down to not break through the ceiling.

matias offers it a wave, smiling.

"i never know what to name my pokemon because the names i pick often have no meaning."

his golurk coos.

"i want golurk to have a name that means something to me."

his automaton isn't as big nor does it have discolored clay like her darling baby deus, sure, but it's still cute as all hell.

and when it coos, she happily coos back.

"hi, cutie," she can't contain the excitement. both hands leave his hair, now, to reach for the golurk's hand. she rubs small circles into the familiar feeling of clay palms.

"what means something to you?" her eyes fall to find his and her smile is warm, cozy, fuzzy at the edges because golurks are her weakness. "my first golett was named custos, which is latin for guardian, while deus means god."

her cheeks flush slightly in mild embarrassment as her ninetales rises to chase a gothorita away after it gets too close to the sleeping baby automatons.

"i tend to pick names that fit what i believe each pokemon represents." and nikki's just pretentious n loves languages ty.

when her hands leave his hair, he's shifting to sit back up, resting his back against the tombstone as he peers up at the golurk.
