There had been a request for trainers to help decorate trees for people that lived on Route 116. Considering he was settled on that same route, the request reached Hideo's ears pretty quickly, and with not much else to do, he decided to help out.

By which it meant his Pokemon helped decorate the tree; a blind kid doing the decorations, while touching, wasn't the best way to set up a good-looking tree.

"Careful with that one, Pinky!" Hideo said, his Ribombee carrying the star up to the top of the tree.

As for why trainers specifically were requested?

Well, a lot of wild Pokemon were wandering around this week for some reason. They had to make sure the volunteers could properly protect themselves between trees.

Once his Ribombee helped finished setting up some Chimecho-style ornaments, it was time to head to the next house. With a quick farewell to the family living there, Hideo was off, taking along his Ribombee on his head and a bag of cookies in his hand from the family gave him as a tip.

Nice.

“Alright, says the next house is a little further down,” Hideo said, his gps set and leading him towards their next destination.

He could hear a Pidgeotto fly across the sky, though it didn’t sound like it got any closer to him. It was probably preoccupied with some other kind of prey. Either way, it made Hideo’s time a little easier.

The next house was straightforward as well: the family just needed help setting up silver-colored, gold-gold-plated, and crystalline ornaments on their tree. Nothing Hideo couldn't handle.

The only challenge was that their tree was as tall as their house; none-too-keen on climbing a giant tree himself, Hideo definitely needed his Ribombee's help hanging everything up. He did hear that some people kept their Christmas trees outside, though he had to wonder why they went with one this big. Guess some people really wanted to show off their Christmas spirit.

And that didn't even account for the Pokemon that interrupted Pinky while he worked: a Duosion saw the pretty ornaments and tried taking one for itself. The Ribombee, none-too-pleased with the interloper, gave it a nice face-full of Pollen Puffs to make it reconsider.

With that massive tree set up, it was on to the next one. Another outdoor tree, belonging to some lady named Rose, but this one wasn’t nearly as tall as the previous; it was only as tall as Hideo himself. Hideo could at least help decorate this one this time.

But he was going to have to do it solo, because very early on, a Lickitung came by. A wild one, according to the couple whose tree he was decorating. It was up to his Ribombee to get its attention and do his best to keep its attention.

Fortunately, it was an easy Pokemon to distract. Unfortunately, it was also a tough one; by the time Hideo was done, Hideo could hear the exhausted Ribombee and Lickitung lying on the ground, trying to catch their breath.

It didn’t take Hideo much effort to take the Pokeball out and toss it at the Lickitung.
