A model? luka chêne hadn't told him anything about that. Though he'd known she'd worked for Mars in some capacity, he figured it had been as part of his PR department. Perhaps, he thought, she'd been embarrassed to tell him the truth of it.

The Charmeleon taunts a little PAWNIARD out from the bushes with scratchy snarls and flicks of her flaming tail. Eventually, it's goaded enough to come charging out with a wild flurry of slashes (SCRATCH). Nimble on her feet, however, Atsuko avoids the strikes before scorching the tyke at point-blank range (INFERNO).

Remiel tosses an empty luxury ball at the little smoldering heap of steel afterwards. "Says the notorious heartbreaker," The royal responds with a slight smile, stepping forward to retrieve his capture. "I might have guessed you were her older brother with a statement like that. Thanks for clarifying."

Fitting of its name, a few metres ahead a Magnezone manipulates the magnetic fields in order to levitate as if it were a Psychic type. Territorial and used to being the biggest and baddest around, its response to seeing the small group is aggressive by nature, and sparks are soon being avoided by the admin.

The Rapidash retaliates in a way that’s also fitting of its name, FLAME CHARGE being used to rush towards the wild pokémon while its body is engulfed in flames.

”You know, I think someone may be slandering my good name. I’m far from notorious for breaking people’s hearts.” If he is, Mars himself has never noticed it until now.

Still, he laughs at Remiel’s comment, a smirk tugging at his lips when looking at him.

He's joking, of course, although the idea of having luka chêne as a younger sister does sound really adorable.

"I can see it," Remiel replies, watching as an ESCAVALIER impedes his way on the trail ahead. It glares at the prince before raising its lances, charging forward with a shrill cry. The prince, however, is wholly unintimidated as he stands there.

Before long, Atsuko steps in to blast the knight-bug down with an INFERNO. Only when the roar of her flames quiets down, leaving a smoldering Escavalier in its wake, does Remiel continue with his dialogue. But he takes a moment, of course, to toss an empty luxury ball at it.

"Mm... don't say that. I have family in Kalos as well. From my father's side." And none of three had ever bothered to compare their family trees, had they?

Though, to be fair, if a distant second cousin (or what have you) of theirs was the heir apparent of the Galarian throne, Remiel was sure someone in their family would have let them known... right?

Probably not, so perhaps Mars should consider himself thankful that the Escavalier shows up to interrupt their conversation. While Remiel’s Charmeleon swiftly deals with it, Incitatus busies himself with a nearby Durant, its IRON DEFENSE doing little to protect it from the oncoming FIRE BLAST.

Remiel’s next comment does catch Mars’ attention, though, and the banker can’t help but smirk.

There’s a wink, but then again, as he’s often reminded by the Aegislash sigil engraved upon the signet ring he wears as a pendant, the Marzán family does have deep and all too noble roots.

Remiel simply smiles in response, leaving Martin to figure it out as an ELECTABUZZ leaps out from the bushes to try and seize Atsuko. The Charmeleon is quick to roll and dodge, however, and regains her footing as her opponent charges another attack. A toothy smirk precedes the charging of her own as sparks crackle and fly from the fists of both participants.

Then, in a dazzling display of light, a pair of THUNDER PUNCH meet before the two Pokémon are blasted away from one another. As they recover, Remiel takes that moment to respond while pulling an empty luxury ball out from his pack. "I suppose my father's bloodline did get around..." He mutters warily. "Though my mother's chose their lineage carefully."

Not to place any shame on the Marzán family, of course. For all he knew, their lines might have crossed some time long ago... and been long since diluted.

The Electabuzz gets up eventually, but the Charmeleon gets up faster. She blasts the monster down with an INFERNO before the prince casts his ball to secure the capture.

The ferocity of the Electabuzz reminds Mars of his own Electivire, once caught at this very same place. Still, Remiel’s Charmeleon holds its ground, and the truth is that even if Mars had wanted to help, something calls to his attention soon enough…

A large Luxio coming around the corner with the full intention of defending its territory.
[break][break]
SPARKS surround its body as it charges forward, and the Rapidash takes off as well, meeting it halfway with a POISONOUS JAB from the horn on its head. The Luxio cries out in pain falling to its side, but it's quick to get back on its feet, fangs charged with electricity (THUNDER FANG) attempting to bite onto the horse. Incitatus’ FLAME BODY makes it pay for making such a foolish choice.

It’s better that way, no matter how old his family may be and the titles they once held.

An EMOLGA drops down from the exposed ceiling to whip an ELECTRO BALL at his Charmeleon. It strikes head-on, and Atsuko looks a little worse for wear as she staggers back up into fighting posture. Just as the critter dives in PURSUIT, however, the Charmeleon strikes with a COUNTER and slams it into the ground.

"Oh? Why's that?" Remiel inquires after Mars' latest admission. He finds himself stepping forward afterwards as he retrieves yet another empty ball from his pack. This one he casts down at the Emolga. "My family adores going through our family tree. We even have a tapestry documenting it. It gets updated every year." And it was quite long, these days.

It’s the sort of thing that’s to be expected from a family like Remiel’s, and it’s the sort of thing his own family does as well. Every single detail about the Marzán’s family tree exists carefully documented, even those members who have been purposefully erased from history – they ones they don’t speak of when proudly talking about their family.

”I just don’t like it. I suppose I don’t want it to define who I am.” It’s not the whole truth, but it’s a part of it, even if Mars knows this makes for an impossible wish. After all, no matter how far he tries to get from the Marzán name, it will always be the blood that runs through his veins, and a part of him will always be what they raised him to be.

While they talk, a playful Klefki appears, floating around the Rapidash as if attempting a PRANK. Incitatus neighs in response, attempting to hit the Klefki with his horn.

”They do have an interesting history, though.” Shame he can’t even stand the name,

The Klefki gets a little too close, and the Rapidash’s flames do the rest.

Remiel tilts his head in his thought for a moment, then eventually nods in agreement. "I can understand that... it might be the closest physical representation of a family's attempt at plotting one's life." Though one he'd certainly left behind some time ago... except for becoming the GALARIAN AMBASSADOR.

Suddenly, a rather familiar snarl echoes from behind. Remiel whips around to find a PERRSERKER charging towards him, but has enough experience with THORGRIM, his GALARIAN MEOWTH, to predict its movement and pivot at precisely the right moment.

Afterwards, his Charmeleon scorches it mercilessly with an INFERNO, filling the hallway with a raucous and ear-splitting chorus of cat cries before Remiel quiets it with the toss of an empty luxury ball.

Everytime Mars finds himself thinking of his family, there are tumultuous and dangerous feelings that arise, but for months now, ever since that night when he was visited by the Being of Willpower, the words spoken by Azelf also come to mind.

Right. They’re not everything he is, they should not define him, nor should he let them control his life.

”True enough, but in the end where you come from doesn’t define who you are.” It’s one’s actions that do as much. In Mars’ own opinion, at least, but that may just be his own attempt at denying the importance of his bloodline. He’d rather leave behind his own legacy without being associated with them.

And, as he ponders on that, he watches Remiel’s fight against an all too familiar cat, catching a glimpse of a Bronzor in the corner of his eye. Won’t you look at that, a Psychic type he actually doesn’t have! He nods for Incitatus to turn his attention towards it, and it's without much effort that the horse gets the rest done.

All that’s needed is fire, after all, and the Rapidash happens to be great at setting things alight.
