It seemed that Jessie was spending more time with Mars than she thought she would, given his rank as an admin in Rocket. Not that she minded it one bit.

In fact, going out to Meteor Falls brought back a few hints of nostalgia for her.

She remembered when they were young going to a few of the routes in Sinnoh to explore the tall grass. They would have competitions to see who could catch the most Pokemon or hunt until they ran out of balls.

The thought made her laugh as she stood by his side.

"Do you remember our competitions we'd have when we were younger? Back in Canalave, running through the routes and grass to find Pokemon?" she asked, looking up at him.

It felt like things hadn't changed much besides their age and responsibilities. And, her feelings toward him, of course. Moving to Verdanturf had brought new aspects to her love life. She never thought she'd get over Martin del Mar.

But she did. Somehow.

Too much has changed since they were children: the world around them, their circumstances, and more importantly, the two of them. But, even with all of those changes, there’s comfort in knowing some things can still remain the same, or at least that if only for a few hours, they can joke and pretend.

That’s perhaps why he laughs at Jessie’s comment, nostalgia bubbling up inside him as if the most delightful of feelings when thinking back to those simpler days.

”Ha! Of course I remember. How could I ever forget?” It’s affectionately that he wraps an arm around her shoulders, squeezing her closer to him into a half-hug before letting go. Naturally, a smirk follows.

Was that a challenge?

Absolutely.

Jessie couldn't hide the mischievous smirk on her face as Mars proposed the competition. Who'd catch the most Pokemon? She was sure to win, now that they were older. And she'd make sure that he wasn't going easy on her either.

"You're on, del Mar."

She separated from his side to investigate, to see if anything would catch her eye. Luckily, it seemed a WOBBUFFET appeared, catching her attention. Jessie always thought the poor Pokemon looked like it was so nervous that it was about to pee itself when it didn't have a goofy smile on its face. This one looked no different.

Looking at the creature, she pulled out her own DRAKLOAK, who she commanded to use PHANTOM FORCE to damage it. The WOBBUFFET let out a distressed noise, attempting to counter with a MIRROR COAT.

"Watch out and take cover, Drakloak!" she ordered, throwing a Pokeball to her target.

It’s not the surname Jessie grew up knowing him by, it’s not the one that belongs to that stupidly rich and ever so infamous family of his, but it’s his own now, and eventhough it could seem silly to someone else, the fact that she so easily called him this makes him happy. He even smiles about it.

Jessie smirked as her Poke ball clicked, a satisfying confirmation that she caught her WOBBUFFET. She looked over at her floating DRAKLOAK, giving him a thumbs up.

"Good job, bud!" she praised.

He seemed pleased enough, a goofy, grin-like look on his face from her compliment appearing. She couldn't help but giggle and give him a quick scratch on the cheek.

Mars brought her back to attention, complimenting her Pokemon.

"Well, thanks. He's a beaut. All of my babies are, isn't that right!" she said in a baby voice, feeding him a berry as a reward.

As soon as she finished with stowing away her newly caught Pokemon, Jessie spotted a GOOMY sliding across the ground. Of course, it was adorable in its own way, looking between her and the Drakloak. She would try to catch him without damaging him, and if need be, she'd engage.

"Alright, let's see if he comes home, yeah?"

She tossed another Poke ball, sucking the Goomy in and rolling on the ground.

He teases her just for the sake of it, because while Mars isn’t generally the type to grow incredibly attached to his pokémon, there are definitely some that he’s that fond of.

Not in that sense, but it’s one Mars had worked with for a long time, and this shows itself in the way it immediately knows what to do when the admin nods towards a Cloyster nearby.

The wild pokémon LEERS and even raises a BARRIER, but it’s a onslaught of BUBBLES that block its vision first, these soon being followed by a powerful HYDRO PUMP.

There were certainly a few times in her childhood when Mars commented on her outfit or said something about a Pokemon she had. Jessie would remember. She'd hold a grudge over that forever.

"Do you? Or do you think it's childish? Am I a baby to you, Mars?" she asked with a raised brow, rolling an empty Poke ball in her hand.

Jessie was only teasing him of course, but she wondered if she'd get a genuine answer as she threw the empty ball to the MIME JR.
