It could be argued that running into people he knows isn’t exactly productive if the goal of all this is networking, but perhaps it could be used as a chance to consider potential business ventures with people he had never thought of in such ways before.

It’s not what happened with kyle lopez, since League sponsorships have always been of interest to Mars. It’s definitely not what happened with luka chêne, since she already works for him as a model to begin with. But, Adrian Malcolm? In the past, his encounters with Adrian have always had little to do with business, and much more to do with tasks assigned by Team Rocket (and contests, we can’t forget the contests).

"I'm looking into making music again, actually." Mars might not know it, but he used to be something of an icon for a time, although he hasn't actually written anything in over a year. Couldn't be sure he still had it in him.

"But I'm not really in it for the money, necessarily."

”Oh? I’m not surprised, the contests have been a great success, after all.” Mars would know, considering he can count himself among their winners. They always make for great opportunities to have people get to know him as more than POG Bank’s CEO, and honestly, even though he probably wouldn’t admit to it despite it being obvious when he performs, he really enjoys things like those.

"Rock. Tried some hip hop, not really my thing. Stuff that's trendy or hardcore." Adrian pulled out his phone, the Klefki dangling from his wrist hanging on like a friendship bracelet, dozing off for a few minutes.

"Here's something I wrote..." Edge is probably the word that best describes the song right after jealousy, and like some struggling artists Adrian suffers from bouts of being his own worst critic. So he hopes, at least, that Mars is honest with him. Feigning support hurt more than not.

He waits for either the song to finish, or Mars to indicate he's heard enough before pausing the video and asking curiously: "So... What do you think?"

Obviously, Mars is no music expert and would never pretend to be one, even if he does play guitar and has sang more than a few songs in his time. But, it takes no expert to say if he likes a song or not, and just like with most things in life, the banker is incredibly picky when it comes to things like those.

It wasn't crushing rejection or distaste, so that was a plus, Adrian decides while taking a drink of the provided spirits before considering how to extend the conversation further.

"So what're you here for, exactly?"

Adrian wasn't exactly sure what brought them here, knowing little of the man himself aside from their shared hobby. And then there was the part about being in the same crime syndicate, but that was hardly any good for exercising his table manners.
