The maze looked nice. The hedges were massive, but neatly trimmed all the way to the top, and even hosted a myriad of flowers to add a pop of color here and there. Locke could hear the playful cries of various Pokémon in the area, all apparently working continuously on the maze from inside and out.

It was, all-around, a nice addition to the scenery.

If it wasn’t also directly in the middle of his usual route into Fortree.

He groaned, dragging a hand over his face in despair. Well, no sense wasting any more time.

THE FIRST CHECKPOINT

If the hedge maze's patrons feels guilty about its place as an obstacle in your deliveries, there is no such indication given by the Roselia who, rather, offers you the slightest glance of disapproval for your groaning.

The Roselia guarding this first of many choices nods, bowing as she steps aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

Your choice at the first checkpoint is decided; your path is set.

THE PATH LESS TRAVELED BY

As you advance deeper into the maze, flowers of every hue blossom and unfurl around you, as if celebrating your passage deeper into the leafy foliage. Sunlight spills forth through the crevices of leaves and branches, at last revealing a Lilligant who stands before you.

She elegantly curtseys with a smile, as if she has been long awaiting your presence. In her leafy hands, she holds a boxed gift:

Behind her another choice awaits you: a winding, looping path to the left, and a narrow and snaking path to the right.

Locke stared back as the Roselia disappeared behind a wall of new growth. ”…Well I guess I better not get lost.

As much as they tried to hurry along through the maze, they couldn’t help slowing down just a bit to admire the gradual explosion of color around them. The flowers were blooming into life in a fireworks-like display, brightened by the dark green background of shrubbery and accented by a rain of golden pollen.

They sneezed.

He was debating if it might be worth the risk of incurring the wrath of the maze’s inhabitants to obtain a few clippings, when he finally rounded the corner, nearly bumping into the Lilligant that waited for him there. He clumsily mimicked her curtsy, accepting the gift with a bemused expression. ”Um, thank you?”

He pocketed the box without opening it, glancing between the vibrant path behind him and the two that lay ahead.

Well, maybe he could take a little more time on this next stretch…

THE SECOND CHECKPOINT

As you sneeze, the Lilligant jumps in surprise, startled by your unexpected presence.

Smiling as she realises you are okay, the Lilligant that guards this second checkpoint bobs her head in silent understanding, stepping aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

Your choice at the second checkpoint is decided; your path is set.

OUT OF THE WOODS

You follow the long and winding path of the maze, eyes scanning for the next possible glimpse of the promised checkpoint ahead. The flowers, however, seem to furl up and diminish in your shadow; it occurs to you, after some time of endless wandering and meandering, that your path only goes one way.

Out.

The radiant smile of a Bellossom greets you, dancing over to you with a consolation gift in her hands. Next to her, the figure of her trainer, Elisabeth Fiorelli, gives a small, sympathetic smile. "You got further than most, and your reward should reflect that," she says, gesturing for you to open the proffered box.
