THE LEAGUE'S FINEST

RIGHT OR WRONG, fernando kills the conversation at the mention of ‘ass’. he knows kyle well enough to know when he’s fucking with him. after all, fernando is his best friend.

the challenge of the seventh floor requires some coordination. not that it’s particularly difficult, but more so that there are several roles to fill. melody is quick to call for the MAGIC ROOM. kyle takes up TEA TIME.

he ends up slightly behind katherine, following the same train of thought. his cleffa sits in his arm, echoing a DISARMING VOICE.

Yeesh, why did everything have to be so dark?

Good thing he wasn't afraid of the dark. It was just really annoying at times.

Trying to squint through thr suffocating gloom, it was hard (if not impossible) to see through the pitch black.

No inscriptions either, no matter how hard he squinted through the inky black. What now? Were they going to crash through the space without illumination?

The best he could do was follow the sounds of his team mates' voices as they were briefly talking about things in the dark.

(Alexei is currently idle.)

protective pads - these pads protect the holder from effects caused by making direct contact with the target.

WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

YOU MANEUVER THROUGH THE DARK TO THE EIGHTH CHALLENGE. It is dark here too, save for the fading light of waning candles. The trainer ahead of you has their Dragalge before them.[break][break]

TOXIC SPIKES are scattered across the Fleur Tea Atelier's floor. You can hear the sound of a coin being flipped before it is pocketed.[break][break]

"i thought my time was being wasted here— but i finally have some visitors." The voice is muffled somewhat, obscured by some covering of fabric across the mouth. Then again, it is impossible to discern who this person is in the dark. "here's your challenge. if you fail, don't cry when you go home empty-handed. springtime blessing, bah."[break][break]

The mysterious man explains the challenge. Any attempts to find or identify him through light or physical touch will result in him disappearing into the dark.[break][break]

Around the room, there is no inscription visible.

TIP: if there are characters or pokemon left who have yet to act, but have not participated in the completion of a challenge, feel free to have them knock out the opposing pokemon.

this time fernando speaks up when the solution is clear cut. while the earlier one wasn’t difficult by any means, unfamiliarity with TEA TIME makes it considerably harder. not everyone can remember every move by memory.

thankfully, he’s well acquainted with toxapex’s signature move: BANEFUL BUNKER. the sound of the PHYSICAL ATTACK rebounding off the protective shield is one he’s heard many times before at the slateport gym.

Why was this floor as dark as the last?!

Der'mo, Alexei thought as he tried to squint in the gloom.

“Ain’t anyone going to get us some light in here?” he grumbled as he tried to adjust his field of perception to the darkness all around them.

He thought he heard the cackling of something, and the squelching noise of an attack landing; however this time he was ready.

A different Pelipper (not Mike) materialized before even it had to squint through the dark.

“Drench it. It’s out there somewhere.”

Without missing a beat, the Pelipper then aimed a powerful jet of water, SOAKing the Dragalge and therefore making it a Water-type.

"you sure?" he asks katherine. "last time i planned on doing something, people cried. a lot."

multiple instances of him taking action led to people crying crocodile tears. it's amusing for the most part, but kyle hardly cares of opinions outside of his own more often than not.

"here's the plan: drop your personal lives and obsess on whatever's the new 'hip' thing happening on the region. i think it's time-space distortions this time around."

it's obviously said in jest. even if they do obsess in it, it's not going to stop whatever was happening from doing so-- if the inscriptions were truly premonitions instead of just artistic decor as most people of hoenn would believe.

he motions for his rotom on his phone to brighten up the surroundings a bit using his phone's backlight. still, the room remains dim besides the little lighting provided by his phone, as well as the establishment to make sure their patrons don't stumble in the dark.

ring target - moves that normally have no effect will land on a Pokémon holding it.

She didn't have to do much this challenge since it seemed like her seniors handled it with simple yet efficient tactic, where was the pizzaz? Where was the showmanship? Boring, luckily she could barely see what was happening. "Do all of the upper floors lack lighting? Ugh this is really annoying. I wanted to know if there were more poems, they were entertaining me." she said trying to distract from the potential disagreement between the two. [break][break]

She also saluted when Katherine did as she also wanted to play along with the joke. "Yes sir lopez sir!" she says before they continue to the next room. [break][break]

Melody got excited upon seeing the golisopod! It was such a weirdo! Such a big tough looking pokemon but he was such a scaredy cat. "I've been trying to catch one for ages! I've learned a way to deal with that pesky ability of theirs." she says sending out her Kingler with SHEER FORCE. [break][break]

"All right Kingler! With your sheer force use razor shell!" she orders as Kingler slide forward and sliced at the Golisopod and attempted to damage it without activating it's ability thanks to sheer force.

Why were the people within these rooms so adverse to any kind of illumination?

Since he could barely see jack shit in front of or anywhere immediately around him, he then replied to Katherine’s earlier question, “You know, I wanted to ask the same thing. About why these room ‘hosts’ are so adverse to even the tiniest bit of light.”

Once the current obstacle was explained to them (and Melody had thrown out something with Sheer Force) he knew that there was only one particular Pokémon he could rely on in this instance.

Plucking the Friend Ball from his jacket pocket, his blue-plumed Braviary appeared, the momentary flash of red light providing the briefest of illumination before being swallowed by the gloom.

“Rock Slide that Golisopod!”

Without further ado, his Braviary’s Sheer Force then triggered as an avalanche of boulders caused by the Rock Slide were flung around the area and aimed at the Pokémon in question.

** Sheer Force’s effect triggered: ‘moves with a secondary effect are increased in power by 30% but lose their secondary effect’; in this case, Rock Slide’s chance to flinch does not trigger in exchange for additional damage output from the Rock-type attack!
