EXPOSITION

WELCOME TO AFTERNOON TEA

YOU MAKE IT TO THE TENTH CHALLENGE. There, an older lady stands tall— but she seems fragile in presence. Tired, perhaps. Wizened by experience unseen. The room is brighter than the others, but still dimly lit. Windows have their curtains closed, but the sunlight from outside sneaks in periodically in small claw-like shafts.[break][break]

"welcome to your final challenge." She does not betray her name, but the elegant manner in which she conducts herself may reveal that her station is a privileged one. "when almost all light is reflected, you see white... in the absence of reflected light, you see black... true white and black is almost impossible to witness, unless one comes across the purest of sunlight or the depths of a black hole. i wonder if pokemon types function in similar fashions?"[break][break]

The lady takes a careful step forward before underhand tossing her pokeball. From the red beam, an UNOWN-A emerges. Her other hand procures a FIGY BERRY. The keenest of eyes may witness it glitch ever so briefly. Once. As if tampered with by the threads of time.[break][break]

"you may require one of these to fulfill your task..." The lady says. "do not worry... the effects of this berry are temporary." She goes on to explain the challenge. "my unown will strike with a hidden power... and it will find your pokemon's weakness."

NOTE: this is the final challenge.

the challenge was about being typeless and there's one easy solution to that. it was apparent enough for kyle, given his pokemon choices, but it was as if the unown didn't make it painfully obvious.

"that's a for astram."

he takes a pokeball out and releases his arcanine. the large, fire-type barks in a greeting for its trainer, small embers flying out of its mouth.

"burn up."

it turns around, away from everyone else, and expulses an inferno away from its body, rendering the fire-type without its flames.

She asked, ready to throw a hissy fit before the woman had even begun to explain the challenge. Yet Melody felt strange...what was she prattling on about..?

"Awww yeah Melody and Kyle time!" she exclaims as it was time for their duet. [break][break]

Melody sent out a baile oricorio who was raring to go. "Give them your strongest revelation dance Oricorio! Teach arcanine a thing or two on how to move!" she says as Oricorio unleashes a fiery REVELATION DANCE onto arcanine.

as Melody Miro's pokemon performs, kyle gets to his arcanine, feeding it a berry that it got from the lady. he's not sure of its effects, so he scans his pokedex for any changes.

the way it looks at the oricorio as it feeds with the berry allows the pokemon to take inspiration from it. perhaps it's the way the pokemon's ability was, but a new move popped out on its moveset.

"mimic? i guess we mimic that..."

the arcanine's eyes flash as it learns revelation dance. whatever melody has just said meant, it was time for that to happen.

"dance, boy! melody and kyle time!"

the arcanine dances. there were no flames, nor sparks, nor anything one would expect a revelation dance would appear. instead, it was just plain, dull white energy that forms with each of the arcanine's steps.

and then the dog hits the unown with a typeless revelation dance..

Kyle, Melody and their pokemon are given a standing ovation mostly because there was nowhere for Katherine to sit. Regardless, they both earned it. She was lucky (and perhaps a tiny bit proud) to be their teammate today.

But the fleeting sense of pride passes unceremoniously when the challenge is met.

"Huh, I thought I saw that berry—" surely... it was just her mind playing tricks on her. "..never mind that. kyle, are you scanning the unown or should i?" they should ask for permission, maybe. who knows, kyle might.

Finally, there was some… some vestige of light, but it was still dark!

However—this time Melody and Kyle took the lead, doing some shenanigans with an Arcanine and a Baile-style Oricorio before attacking the—

“I’m sure it wasn’t just you,” he remarked in Miss Katherine’s direction at the sight of the berry before Kyle had fed it to the Arcanine. “Did anyone else notice—”

And then, it hit him. They were attacking a—

“Guys, wait, hold up, don’t kill the Unown yet!” he called out, fishing out his phone where the Unown Report had force-installed itself.

Alas, it was the letter A—but it would have to do.

He then scanned the Unown, hoping that they would be able to get more answers from the strange program that was collecting seemingly random words—well, mostly random, except for the names of what he assumed were Legendary Pokémon…

She glides slowly toward one of the windows. Her gloved hands grasp the curtains and draw them open with one concise thrust. As the sunlight floods into the room, a peculiar Pokemon arrives in startling pink. The lady is quick to close the window again.[break][break]

"for all of your concerted efforts... our herald of spring, enamorus is willing to grant you with a springtime blessing... she can teach one of your pokemon how to use the winds of love and hate... if you are so willing." she says as the enamorus joins her side. a thin finger tucks a white curl of hair behind her ear.[break][break]

"go on." The lady waits for your decisions as the Enamorus begins to conjure a cyclone of sakura pink, brimming with affections gained. affections lost.[break][break]

One may wonder whatever else may be bestowed within this wind— should it be trusted.[break][break]

INSTRUCTIONS

READ CAREFULLY EVERY ROUND

Choose one of your Pokemon to learn a free 7TH EVENT MOVE, SPRINGTIDE STORM.
SPRINGTIDE STORM can be used on a LAND FORME SHAYMIN to shift it into SKY FORME SHAYMIN; however, this must be done in a THREAD OF ANY KIND. The move can be used again to reverse the forme.
A SKETCHED version of SPRINGTIDE STORM can not be used to shift Shaymin's forme. After all, Smeargle's versions of legendary/mythical signature moves are inherently weaker and may lack particular elements.
A LAND FORME SHAYMIN changing to SKY FORME will lose access to AROMATHERAPY and HEALING WISH, replacing such moves with AIR SLASH and LEAF STORM. There are circumstances where the SKY FORME may be reverted temporarily (e.g. night time, freezing).

the option to give another pokemon an opportunity to make itself more pronounced than other pokemon in his team or to get a stacked pokemon even more stacked.

as he goes to his pc that was situated on every floor, kyle browses his options. naturally, he gravitates towards his favorites over the kind of pokemon some sort of blessing would be more effective on.

on one hand, his choice is suboptimal on paper. on the other hand, it's one of his only options that fits a lot of his criteria on multiple scenarios that could possibly result from this.

"it's chrom for me."

withdrawing a pokemon from the machine, he takes out his solgaleo, eerily similar to what people are accustomed to seeing, but at the same time different, to learn the move.

it seems illogical considering it already was stronger than an average pokemon, but on the worst case scenario, at least his solgaleo has a way to get back home should the unown be an indicator.

kyle's cautious, but it doesn't seem to reflect on his immediate actions.

The promise of power though? She had thought long and hard about her option, constantly finding reasons to give it to a pokemon but realizing another could use the boost in power before finally settling on an option. The moment the strange, seemingly wizened lady mentioned ‘Enamorus’, all sorts of alarm bells began going off in Alexei’s head, because holy fucking shit—

That was the name of the Pokémon that Tornadus was maybe possibly looking for, and well what do you know, coincidence? Sheer, fucking coincidence? Happened to have the very thing that the djinni was looking for was right there, right fucking there, across the room from them!

He wondered if it was possible for him to subtly take a picture of the… pink… it… it certainly looked similar to the djinni he visited in the skies just outside of Lilycove, but instead of the familiar purple-and-green color scheme, this one was pink. Just. Screaming. Pink.

Out of potentially everyone there, Alexei was the one who was panicking the most because, well, he’d been issued a ‘challenge’ (or was it a ‘request’, really, he wasn’t sure) by the djinni he communicated with… surely nobody else would be looking at him strangely…

Just act normal! he thought to himself as he walked over to the PC and made up his mind—he was definitely going to either get blank stares of shock, surprise, or just deadpan snark as he pulled out one particular Dive Ball from the secured section of his storage and returned.

“Zelle, don’t fuck this up.”

And from the red beam of light emerged his Phione, the very first one sighted in the region several years ago, who was very much wanting to circle across the room and face-hug everyone present, but a stern glare from Alexei made her stop and just roost on her favored perch—atop his head.

At the same time, though, he had his phone out and ready to record, just in case shit went south.

fernando’s pick is decisive. ZYGARDE, which he understand very little of, will serve as his scapegoat. there’s not doubt in his mind the pokemon is special but the fact it’s unrealized means its slightly more disposable in comparison.
