The last floor was pretty easy and upon the next floor, the burnt scarred man was quick to notice the warmer room temperature. Crimson colored orbs flickered over the many fire type figures and paintings that decorated the room. A hint of a smirk spread across his lips, feeling much more at home here surrounded by something he was familiar with. The man couldn't help his gaze that flickered to the moltres, than the heatran.

Maverick listened to his words carefully, still smirking when the challenged was placed. Maverick swiftly plucked a ball form his pockets, summoning his own defense against the yawn. The oddly colored honchkrow materialized within seconds. Wings spread out and a craw escaped his beak, beading eyes on the dire turtle as it yawned tiredly.

Like a contagious cold, Marrok’s beak opened wide in a yawn. The suddenly wave of drowsiness washed over him in mere seconds. However due to his ability INSOMNIA, the avian could never sleep even when he wanted to rest. And when the next round came around, his eyes remained open wide awake ready to move forward.

Zac wiped away a sheen of sweat and sent out his own insomniac: Hypno! "This place is a bit warm, let's head back to the pool ay?" He asked, only half joking.

The Torkoal stretched open its reptilian mouth, and a slow, sopofiric cloud wafted towards their Pokemon. It broke against Hypno's pink head like a wave of meringue, surrounding and soaking in, filling the Psychic type with thoughts of dreamland.

But Hypno had no time for sleep. His mind flexed, bursting the forming sleep bubble and driving away the night like a college student with a term paper due at 8am the next morning. This was the land of wakefulness. Of Caffeine and endless nights. And it was ruled by Nyx the Insomniac.

After thanking maverick noah ryder for retrieving her mother's lost sword (it turned out Michiko was actually just a video game quest NPC) Michi was happy to find the next room a bastion of warmth and heat. "Ah! It is perfect!" she cried, laying out Doublade on some paper towels to dry while they solved the next Tea Room puzzle.

"Oh, I see!" she said after intently watching her companions' choices of Pokémon for a moment. "I will use my Happy!"

With this inane statement, Michiko collected her now-dry Doublade, put it back in her handbag, and sent out Hoothoot. The spherical owl landed in the middle of the room, balancing on one leg as her huge eyes took in the Moltres carvings on the walls. "Happy does not sleep at night, so this Yawn is..." Michiko made a big X with her arms over her chest as the Hoothoot blinked at their opponent, still very much awake, "...Impossible!"

FARHAN SHAKES HIS HEAD. His Torkoal huffs, smoke billowing out from its nostrils like Chimney's sooty beard.

"do not give up! i'll give you another chance. your pokemon must be able to slip into a drowsy stupor. remember that!"[break][break]

There is no inscription written in this room. However, paintings and carvings of a Moltres being birthed from Mt. Chimney's molten crater can be seen.

"I will not give up!" Michiko exclaimed, still filled with misguided determination. She recalled her Hoothoot, who had done her job perhaps too well, and unhooked her Chingling keychain from her car keys. Taking a deep breath, she shook it in the air, filling the room with the sound of ringing bells. "Everybody, listen! It is a little noisy!" It did sound remarkably similar to an alarm default tone. Perhaps it would keep their Pokémon awake?

"Nice one Michi! If we're loud enough it'll keep our Pokemon awake!" Zac returned his Hypno and sent out his lawnmower. He reached down and yanked on the ripcord, filling the room with blasts of motor noise and freshly cut grass. 

"IF THIS DOESN'T STOP 'EM SNOOZIN'," Zac shouted above the beating of the motor, "THEN NOTHING BLOODY WILL!"

The burnt scarred man’s brows scrunched together in skeptical aggravation. Indeed that what is they did, each of them did. Insomnias very definition was too feel drowsy, but be unable to fall asleep. Surely, this man was a fool or up to no good. Arms folded over his chest, very displeased by the outcome of this failed challenge. It made no sense.

However, Maverick bite his lip so to speak. This wasn’t his game, wasn’t his rules. If Maverick wished to continue, he had to play by their rules regardless of how inaccurate they may be. A huff escaped him along with an eye roll, one arm unfolded and recalled his oddly colored avian only to pluck out another.

Upon being released, the gardevoir’s gaze landed upon the torkoal whom yanked tiredly at her. The effects of yawn took over, suddenly feeling drowsy as her eyes got heavy with demand for sleep. “Misty terrain,” the man mumbled in a anger grumble, still upset about the previous failed attempt. The gardevoir nodded slowly, mouth opened wide in a yawn as she summoned a thick light blue pinkish mist from her surrounding. The mist covering the surrounding area effectively making it so no one could possibly fail asleep.

YOU ASCEND TO THE NEXT FLOOR. There, a blond man strolls in with his serving cart. A Slurpuff dressed in similar chef's attire hops along too, its tongue lazily tipped over its bottom lip.[break][break]

"you made it this far? not like it's a big accomplishment. feel free to pick from the cart. trade out an item for another or relinquish them entirely. be my guest." He rubs his stiff shoulder, the hand dangling from that painful joint licked by his Pokémon.[break][break]

Should you have encountered him before, he feigns ignorance. He does not answer questions. Simply, he waits for you all to finish before directing you to the next floor. However, there is no rush. You may chat amongst yourselves as you and your Pokémon take rest.[break][break]

"Oh! It is Chef Branes!" Michi exclaimed, immediately recognizing her and maverick noah ryder's jiggly, pudding-like cafe boss. She waved to the Slurpuff but faltered, realizing he might not recognize her. Was it silly to assume he'd remember her from a single lunch shift?

Feeling self-conscious, Michi edged closer to Maverick, too shy to point but definitely trying to catch his attention. "It's him," she whispered, not looking directly at the blonde man. She remembered the stranger limping through the door at the end of the day, clearly suffering from some kind of injury. It looks like he is feeling better... he must have gone to the hospital.

She took a ring target from the serving cart and slipped it over her finger, suppressing a giggle at how silly it looked next to all her re-re-re-vowing rings.

"New items already? Oh sure, one sec," Zac said, quickly feeding Flygon the stimulant herb. REM's eye's widened, and he started humming at an odd frequency.



The rules clearly stipulated that they could only carry one held item at a time, but damn if Zac wasn't going to get his money's worth.



"Gimme the, uh, the boxing gloves."

Finally, they had passed the yawn test and moved onto the next challenge on the next floor. And too his surprise, a familiar face has made an appearance with the same slurpuff from before. A brow rose, wondering what he was doing here. What was is name again?

Michiko remembered his name, even calling it out and waving to the slurpuff. Unfortunately, it seemed that the man and the pokemon didn’t remember them. The man hummed to himself lost in his own deep thoughts. But movement to his side made him shifted his gaze, noticing the elder woman moving closer to him and whispered to him. Maverick gave a single nod, mumbling “Indeed” in return.

Items were offered again. The man carefully looked them over, eventually shaking his head in a no. “I’ll keep the mental herb,” Mav spoke out loud mostly to himself. Although the ring looked promising and something that would be useful, something told him that the mental herb would be more of use for him. Hopefully, this wasn't a mistake.
