It was just Howie and him brushing knees as they trotted through the expansive labyrinth of Foretree City's newest hedge maze. He's unsure whether they can find the end, as it seems pokemon are actively engaging to disrupt the flow of those walking betwixt the hedges. Rather than take the task seriously, it is a moment to take a deep breath... To try and settle Howitzer's troubled heart, perhaps vainly so.[break][break]

Because some fresh air never hurt anyone, so they said.[break][break]

"C'mon Howie, let's go this way," he suggests as they arrive at the first juncture, but the beast seems to hesitate. Perhaps it has a nose for something, or is simply adjusting to the stranger that wears Adrian's skin, and speaks with the same dulcet tones. Adrian can only speculate while gently running his digits through her fur, a rolling breeze causing furry tufts to billow with its passing...[break][break]

THE FIRST CHECKPOINT

The sight of your Arcanine seems to startle the Roselia awaiting your choice, a few petals anxiously swirling above her head as the Fire-type gets close.

Composing herself, the Roselia guarding this first of many choices nods, bowing as she steps aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

Your choice at the first checkpoint is decided; your path is set.

THE PATH LESS TRAVELED BY

As you advance deeper into the maze, flowers of every hue blossom and unfurl around you, as if celebrating your passage deeper into the leafy foliage. Sunlight spills forth through the crevices of leaves and branches, at last revealing a Lilligant who stands before you.

She elegantly curtseys with a smile, as if she has been long awaiting your presence. In her leafy hands, she holds a boxed gift:

Behind her another choice awaits you: a winding, looping path to the left, and a narrow and snaking path to the right.

Together they treaded the path, arriving before a Roselia with a skittish disposition, though perhaps it was not accustomed to dogs. He could think of a number of reasons why it should grow uneasy at their sight. Howitzer leads them the rest of the way, and the path closes behind them; but as they make good ground, the flowers around them are in full bloom, a menagerie of exotic colors and species greeting them as they chanced to pass them by.[break][break]

They encounter next a Lilligant, which bestows upon them a box, containing FIVE POKEBALLS; a generous offer considering. Dipping his head in acknowledgement and thanks, he stows the prize away in his backpack before returning the box. The Lilligant steps aside, revealing another juncture for them to cross.[break][break]

"Alright Howie, where're we goin'?" It was only fair she got to choose, too. And it was more amusing than flipping a coin. After a moment of chasing its own tail once it snagged on some hedges, she made the decision by bounding forward along the path leading to the right.[break][break]

Wait up, Howie![break][break]

THE SECOND CHECKPOINT

The Lilligant jumps slightly with surprise as Howie races ahead, startled.

Composing herself with a shake of her head, the Lilligant that guards this second checkpoint bobs her head in silent understanding, stepping aside to let you enter your chosen path. The other closes abruptly in a curtain of moss and vines at the Pokemon's behest, unable to be retread.

OUT OF THE WOODS

You follow the long and winding path of the maze, eyes scanning for the next possible glimpse of the promised checkpoint ahead. The flowers, however, seem to furl up and diminish in your shadow; it occurs to you, after some time of endless wandering and meandering, that your path only goes one way.

Out.

The radiant smile of a Bellossom greets you, dancing over to you with a consolation gift in her hands. Next to her, the figure of her trainer, Elisabeth Fiorelli, gives a small, sympathetic smile. "You got further than most, and your reward should reflect that," she says, gesturing for you to open the proffered box.
