"You hear about the hatchery that's opening up to the public?" Derek questions over towards Callan as they continue covering ground. It sounds nice on paper, though the rapid influx of baby pokemon meant some would probably have a hard time finding a home. And if raised in captivity, they wouldn't necessarily learn how to survive in the wild if that's where they ended up. "Lots of talk going on about it. Some people seem to be counting the days until they can get their foot through the door."

Callan replied, he even had to deliver a few eggs with Matias Silph regarding the hatchery, but he never actually went to it. "It's Pokemon breeding season already, sheesh," He replied, "That means mating behavior, that means more ranger work. You gonna use the hatchery's services?"

Callan kneels down, finding an appropriately sized thicket. "Let's set up there, and I'll set the bait..." Callan looks around, then moves over to an open space, placing an berry ball mix with oats on the ground, a staple favorite of Pokemon, the smell would attract them quickly, so he slid himself into the bush, taking out an empty pokeball.

"Probably. There's always talk about how pokemon seem to be born with random abilities. With everything that's going on, I wouldn't be surprised to see something of a mutant generation hatch out of those eggs." It sounded neat, but could prove just as terrifying. Like a herd of Tauros that knew how to fly...

Allowing Callan to set up, Derek withdrew into the forest as well. It didn't take long for something to show up, and then another. The two seemed to have a dispute over who would get the bait, though...

Derek released his Sobble before they could do much harm to one another. It's water gun caught the Purugly off-guard, striking it in the head and forcing it into an unconscious slumber. Callan would be left to deal with the Crawdaunt, or simply let it take the tasty bait and leave.

With the Purugly being downed by Derek's Sobble's Water Gun, the remaining Crawdaunt skittered away sensing danger from the foor. The Purugly laid there, faint, most likely it'd wake up in a little bit. "Okay, let's relocate." Callan replied, moving out of the brushes.

Setting a second trap by a waterside, Callan placed the bait by the banks of a small stream of water before moving into the nearby brush, awaiting for the next Pokemon to arrive.

Allowing Callan a moment to speak up after they baited another spot, Derek looks over and sees that the guy appears rather disinterested with the showing. A doduo and a Zweilous encroached on them, and with Derek so reluctant to just pass up the opportunity...

A pokeball is clicked open, revealing a Clefable that stands opposite to the two-headed dragon. "Lenora, use moonblast!" A bright flash of pink, and suddenly the Zweilous was no more. Well, that was putting it a bit harshly. Though slumped over on the ground, it showed no signs of consciousness. A quick pokeball is lobbed to secure the pokemon, all of this potentially scaring off the Doduo if Callan didn't care to do anything about it.

Once Clefable fired the energy blast, the Doduo fled. Naturally the Zweilous was cauhgt under Derek's pocket. "Nice, it's a rare Pokemon." He replied.

Once again, having alerted the local population of wildlife, the two of them moved to another brush and seated themselves down. Callan compressed a sitrus berry into a fine mulch, and combined it with rice flour, setting the bair down as he readied his Pokeball. "I'm getting kinda parched," Callan admitted, "Could go for a beer and a smoke, how about we head back to the campsite and take a break after this?"

"I'm down for whatever." Derek admits as he follows along, eventually finding himself to be rather surprised at their findings. A fully evolved Bisharp lurks, as well as a silly little Spinda. Thankfully the two didn't get into a scrap, as it would've been rather one-sided, he thought.

A silent nod to Callan suggests the man can do as he wants. Derek already has one of these steel types, and the only pokemon he's really into collecting stem from the Metagross line. So which would it be, Callan...?

There is a time in each trainer's life that they immediately understood the ferocity of danger before them. A small prickling in their spine, the paranoid whisper in their head telling them to watch out. For what, he didn't know, but Callan only got this feeling once in his life, as he stared down an explosion from Blacephalon.

And here it was, again, warning him of fear. Only this time he would not hesitate. Before him were a Bisharp and a Spinda, and he knew that this Pokemon, with its elegant, gracelike figure, and its eyes full of killing intent, will serve him well. It called to him, as he readied his pokeball. "I got it..." Callan whispered, as a bead of sweat rolled down the side of his face, making as little sound as possible as it began to eat at the mulch.

The Bisharp stood apart, away from the death machine that gorged on its riceflour and berry concoction. As it ate, its graceful dance forewarned the knived pokemon of the fatal consequences of disturbing its food. As Callan slung the ball towards the Spinda, he said a prayer, a prayer that it did not slaughter him and Derek on the spot, should it escape.

Another score of pokemon came their way, though Derek had already decided he wasn't going to do anymore battle or catching for the time being. Allowing Callan to decide, the ranger would ultimately start leaving once he either decided to do the same, or went after whichever of the two pokemon interested him most.
