Killian lingered on the outskirts of Lilycove City, a few blocks away from the Center for Disease Control. Draped in the shadow of night and the forest foliage, he breathed in stale air. A break-in without Alexandra Briarwood, this felt weird. But he doubted she'd approved of tonight's target. [break][break]

He's not even sure this is a good idea. Stealing a virus, what could go wrong?[break][break]

"We should go over the plan one more time." he spun to face the others. The Rotom phone beside him buzzed, light shooting from its screen to display a holographic map of the CDC building.[break][break]

"The virus is on the bottom floor inside a sealed, temperature-controlled room. We'll need level 6 clearance to get down that far. The IDs I nicked are only level 2, so we'll have to figure something out."[break][break]

That shouldn't be too hard.[break][break]

"The League keeps the lower levels well guarded, so expect trouble."

Gavin comes disguised as the very man whose ID was now tucked beneath his shirt. Gone were his recognizable blond hair and amber eyes, replaced by close-cropped dark hair and the green eyes of one Michael Richards of the CDC. He'd enlisted the help of his protégé, Serena Malcolm, in covering up his scars and other identifying features, replacing them with Michael's sparse pattern of freckles. There was nothing that could be done about the disparity in height, but an air of confidence and belonging should be enough to fool most.

The real Richards had been abducted on his way home from work the prior evening. By the time he was released, the virus would hopefully be in their hands.

"And our extraction plan?"

He lights up a cigarette as they plan, studying the holographic map for the umpteenth time as he takes a drag.

"The lower level will be a cold storage area, most likely. Sterilization processes at the entrance and exit of the floor will be mandatory, as will hazard suits. We don't know what other malicious viruses are being studied down there, so we must be cautious not to touch anything unnecessary."

A long preparatory session with Ceri Glynn had given Elisabeth insight into the meaning of the layout that Killian Decker presented, long discussions of risks at play and procedures to keep in mind for researching a virus that, at the time of discovery, still posed a potential threat to human subjects. Elisabeth pursed her lips, frowning, as she continued, "Ah, right. We will have to use the suits available on the premises, so that we can use the separate breathing apparatus. We can't simply bring our own."

Elisabeth had likewise been prepped for the covert operation in a more aesthetic manner. Her role as Dr. Lillian Ives left her as a redhead -- something that ana fell had kindly offered to help her sort with temporary hair dye, a pair of spectacles lifted from a thrift shop, and brown eye contacts that were unpleasant, but not distractingly so. Thankfully the woman's normal clothes covered up the difference in their figure well enough that Elisabeth suspected no one would question her too much.

Whatever had happened to the real Ives was frankly of no interest to the florist, and she lost no time dwelling on it. She trusted that Cillian Quinn had taken care of it.

"The question remains where we are storing the virus, given its current high-risk nature."

"We're going to teleport out." he replies, "But we'll need to take care of the Klefki locking the facility down first. It's a big building, so they're using more than one." At least three spread throughout the CDC. [break][break]

"I don't have their locations now, but my Rotom will find them once we're inside." You'd find no Rotom better at hacking a system than Hijack.[break][break]

Killian pushed his glasses up his nose. Behind their faux lenses, his eyes loitered on Gavin's cigarette. Deoxys didn't let him smoke anymore. The alien and the toxic smog didn't get along. Yet Killian's craving remained.[break][break]

"The question remains where we are storing the virus, given its current high-risk nature." [break][break]

The cunning smile of a Gengar painted Killian's lips. "That's the best part, Elisabeth. We already have our storage container." he extended a hand, "Gavin, mind giving me your lighter?"

Gavin's more than familiar with the prospect of using Klefki to lock a place down ⁠— his own office was protected by a Klefki whose FAIRY LOCK ensured that no ambitious grunt or otherwise could TELEPORT in and out of the space.

"Best way to deal with Klefki is with fire, but we can use ground to be more inconspicuous."

When Killian asks for his lighter, the underboss furrows his brow but doesn't hesitate to flip the lighter closed and toss it toward the admin.

"What for?"

Elisabeth nodded briskly, choosing not to name her thoughts on that aloud. Namely, confusion on why she had been chosen to work alongside these two powerhouses among Rocket.

What was she Avatar of exactly? Suspicious flower shops?

Ah, well. She'd have ample opportunity to prove herself, at least. A swipe of her ID, and she lead them inside.

Part of any act was committing to it with confidence. Dr. Lillian Ives had a reputation, and Elisabeth embodied it flawlessly.

When Elisabeth walked through the front doors of the Center for Disease Control, she did so with head held high and eyes focused ahead. Each step commanded attention, gliding through the strangers with all the nonchalance of someone who had not only walked these halls many times, but owned them. She'd memorized the interior, not allowing even a single instance of hesitation to betray her.

She didn't spare a look to the men behind her, trusting them to keep up. She was the newcomer, after all. Her being first in line was a sort of diversion; like her last mission with Cillian Quinn, it was to allow the stronger men beside her to evade notice, fading behind her into the background.

This act got them several levels in without complaint, before Elisabeth paused in the elevator, frowning. At the moment, they were the only three inside.

"It requires a higher clearance level than 2 to descend any lower," she stated simply. "How do we want to proceed?"

Hacking the system, perhaps? Or some social maneuvering?

Gavin, too, enters the building with confidence. The most important part of any façade was to pretend as if you belonged wherever you didn't. Most people wouldn't spare a second glance to someone who gave every appearance of belonging, no matter the truth.

When they make it to the elevator, the first of their problems presents itself.

"You mentioned a Rotom." Gavin flicks his gaze to Killian Decker. "Can it get us through without tripping an alarm?"

He had a Rotom of his own, but he had little doubt that Rocket's head of intel might have a higher skillset than his own when it came to bypassing security systems.

Killian's done this dance so many times he falls into it naturally. "So far so good." he thought, stepping into the elevator. [break][break]

Now things got difficult.[break][break]

Pursing his lips, a sharp whistle filled the confined space. A second later, a joyful Rotom Phone shot out from the pocket of dark jeans. The bundle of hyperactive orange bounced up and down before the trio.[break][break]

"You heard em, Hijack. Think you can handle it?"[break][break]

"Who do ya think I am, sir?" it buzzed confidently.[break][break]

"Then get to work."[break][break]

The phone dropped into Killian's hand as the Rotom swapped from it to the elevator's electrical system. Lights flicker overhead, and their metal carriage increases its pace. [break][break]

Killian took a deep breath. "Anyone else nervous?"

His Rotom's handiwork had immediate results. The elevator shaft shuddered with sudden movement, groaning in its dark descent.

"You are not alone in that feeling, no," Elisabeth conceded, her calm demeanor doing its best to hide that simple truth.

When the doors slid open, a cool cloud of chill air seeped into the metal interior.

The sterilization room.

Hazard suits lined the walls, their bright orange colour arresting attention.

Elisabeth turned to Cillian Quinn and Killian Decker, observing the hierarchy between them before proceeding.
