"Gengar," she repeats, her voice briefly distant as if saying the pokemon helped to keep it in her mind; she once more writes, a series of calculations this time, and when she has finished she muses, "My grandmother likes ghost pokemon."

With a snort, she tacks on, "She's batty." Teasingly, she then asks, "Are you batty too, Zev?"

A Shedinja flew by overhead with a faint buzz, while Zev picked out the form of a Beheeyem as it floated past at ground level. Both Pokémon paid them no heed, and his Gengar, Smoke, seemed disinterested in fighting them. In fact, at mention of his species, he drew closer and peered through the opposite end of Nenet's telescope.[break][break]

"I don't know if I've ever been called batty," Zev said with a laugh. He shifted on the blanket and lay down on his back, his hands folded behind his head for a cushion. The twinkling stars wheeled above him against the sky, the cold and unfeeling sentinels of the night. "Maybe some of my exes thought I was a little weird for liking Ghost-types."[break][break]

Truth be told, his exes thought all kinds of negative things about him, but Nenet didn't need to know that.[break][break]

"What about the rest of your family? Are they batty too? Should I be concerned about my well being?" he teased her, grinning up at her even though her back was turned to him.

She holds her hand up for a bare second - indicating Zev to be silent - and then after a few moments has a number written out on her pages. With that accomplished, she closes the book and leans back to tip her head up towards the stars in thought.

"Somewhat," she muses. "My sisters enjoy their antics, but I'm not certain they are batty." Her lips pursed, she offers, "Mother may be, somewhat." She then casts her gaze towards Zev, a wink playfully offered to him.

"I have work to finish, now." With that spoken she flicks off her headlamp and leans forward to gaze into the telescope. Her voice soft, not uncertain but distracted, she murmurs, "You may stay to keep me company if you'd like."

At the mention of sisters and a mother, Zev took the knowledge and tucked it away into his mental file for Nenet. The information may not prove useful in the future, but in case it did, he had it in hand.[break][break]

She turned off her lamp, casting them and their Pokémon in the natural darkness of night. Zev did not find the lack of light particularly discomforting, however. He was used to shadows.[break][break]

"I think I've taken up enough of your time," he told her when she offered, sitting up once more. Leaning in, he planted the briefest kiss on her shoulder, a whisper of affection unseen by anyone else. "But I have a feeling I'll see you again before long. Have a good night, Nenet."[break][break]

Smiling more to himself than to her — for she was too occupied with her telescope to notice — Zev stood and left her to her own devices.
