Skyler Dross is, in fact, already regretting her decision. She regretted it as soon as she read the email, as soon as her idiot of a husband decided that he'd take it. She regretted it as she prepared the boat for departure, as soon as they met up with the rest of the crew.

Her fingers tap a restless beat against the steering wheel as she drives them closer to the rusted carcass of an old shipwreck, drawing a shiver out of her when they pass by its shadow.

Skyler knows the Hoennian ocean like she knows the back of her hand, and yet the dark waters give her pause. A niggling sense of wrongness trickles up the back of her neck, some primal instinct urgently tugging her the other way.

"I'll secure the waters. Do a perimeter check around the shipwreck." It's what she did best, after all.

As Angelo mounts the Altaria, Skyler's mouth twists into something like grim determination. "Sign us if you see anything." His casualness is an oft donned (and familiar) coat, and there's an herculean effort to keep the 'I told you so' caged behind her teeth.

The engine purrs under her feet as she makes it circle the shipwrecked vessel. Under the surface, Skyler's Sealeo, Frank, uses its ICE BODY in an attempt to find any uncanny shifts in temperature.

Unlike the others Razz doesn't seem too phased at the idea of some haunted location. Heck his home in Sootopolis was still considered the Haunted Beach House to the city. Though its not like the ghost at his place weren't more docile in comparison to other spirits. Either way he just rides skyler dross's boat to their assign location. Had they had more time he probably would've asked the obviously distressed Serena Malcolm if she was going to be already, but their destination came quicker than expected. [break][break]

The group seemed to agree with splitting up for clues and he just gives a nod. While the others were searching the rocks skyler dross and him search the seas on her boat. Razz calling out his Spiritomb, his logic being that ghost would be able to find ghost. See if it couldn't pick something up.

Not even the dread that wells up in the pit of her stomach, or the taste of bile on her tongue, is enough to dissuade Skyler from peering down into the ocean's surface. Superstitions fall to the side when she spots a strange floating object in the water, making way for a treasure hunter's greediness.

She doesn't remember making the conscious decision to jump into the water, or to paddle her way to the Strange Souvenir. A calloused hand reaches for it, tracing its uncanny shape in slow perusal. 

Her victory, however, is woefully short-lived.

Skyler knows the ocean like she knows herself. She's spent most of her life diving into and sailing it, boldly challenging its storms. Though she respects its power, she's never had a reason to truly fear it.

Not until now.

Ink-black swallows the cerulean waters, blotting out the light in an unnatural, hellish expansion. Skyler's breath freezes partway to her lungs as she watches this, a growing mind-numbing terror seizing her every muscle. 

Was that something grabbing her ankle? Are those whispers, or is it just the ocean's lull? What the fuck is hiding in there?

By the time Skyler's made it back to the boat, terror has fully taken over. She's frantic as she hoists herself into the deck, gulping air like she's forgotten how to breathe. Eyes, wide-eyed and wild, find her hand still clutching onto the Strange Souvenir.

"Interesting," Razz comments as the Key Stone gives off an unfamiliar glow. Curious if it was picking something up. At first he is ignorant of the world around him as he gets out the book given to them by the priestess. Making note of their current clue, then cross referencing on what they would need to be looking for. [break][break]

Its when he hears the thumping of the Captain that makes him look up again. Razz about to share his discovery until he noticed her panic state. Finally his attention was caught as he looks over the deck and eyes go wide at the site of the shadow underneath them. That should not be there. Is all he could think as he returns the Spiritomb and in it's place calls out his Raichu. A static electricity coming out from it's cheeks as if trying to sense danger. [break][break]

In his theory whatever it was, maybe with it being in the water the electric pokemon would be able to handle what it was. "What is that?" he questions the captain as he figures if anyone knows wild life of the water it would be her.

While there is a terror that can't help but raise the hairs on the back of his neck there is a part of him that wonders just what is the creature. Or if its even real and not some sort of illusion that some ghost pokemon was catching was the logic he was telling himself as Salem had jumped on the bars to look over. They look at each other in silent communication as the two have known each other long enough to understand some unspoken questions and Salem just gives a 'couldn't hurt?' type shrug. [break][break]

The ranger looks back to the rest of the crew, "I think it might be useful if we look under," he claims as he returns his pokemon before calling out Duke the Sharpedo. Jumping off the boat before landing on the shark before the cartilaginous fish DIVES down after the Ranger puts on a mouth breather, and pulls down his goggles.

The steel behemoth is an ever-present presence, looming over them in all its shipwrecked glory. Temptation inches its way to the surface, the promise of treasure taunting her in the shape of the strange souvenir in her hands.

What else could lie in wait, she can't help but think, among steel beams and flooded halls?

angelo vestri makes a good point, however. One she isn't willing to ignore.

Something was trying to scare them away - and while the terror of oil-slick waters lingers still in her coiled muscles, poised before a natural instinct to either fight or flee, it also crashes against Skyler's stubbornness.

"Yeah, we're comin'." Though words are dragged past a cage of gritted teeth, there's no hesitation as Skyler readies her diving equipment, pulling it over her mouth and around her shoulders.

Not that she needs it to breathe underwater, but Serena Malcolm 's presence demands some level of secrecy. Skyler's status as Kyogre's avatar isn't yet common knowledge.

Her pokemon makes a slightly bigger splash than the others. The Wailord waits patiently as the captain holds onto its fins, before DIVING into the depths.
