You've been tasked to investigate one such incident to determine what the root cause of this ghoulish uprising might be and whether it represents an overarching threat.[break][break]
4-PLAYER TEAMS will be given a location to INVESTIGATE for ghost activity. They will unlock a range of clues to interpret, as well as utilize interactable objects to help further their objective to identify the ghost that is haunting the vicinity.[break][break]
The objective is to LOCATE, IDENTIFY and then PACIFY or EXORCISE the ghost as you deem necessary. Either method will require you to use certain MOVES AND/OR ABILITIES.
SEARCHING FOR EVIDENCE
Teams will be given an environment to search for EVIDENCE, which will be provided by the event moderator FONZ at the end of every round. There is no limit as to how many rounds an investigation may take, though external factors may limit your time.[break][break]
You must ROLL with every post to help determine successes, certain outcomes, and many other factors that you may not be aware of while the event is underway. YOU CANNOT USE SALAC BERRIES.[break][break]
When a team fails to discover identifying evidence in a given round, they may instead encounter SIGNS of paranormal activity. These can be considered general hints and clues as to where one might consider investigating next. Whether a team has received EVIDENCE or a SIGN will generally be clarified by the moderator.[break][break]

LOSING YOUR MIND [break]
While exploring the environment players will likely incur SANITY LOSS as a penalty for especially unlucky rolls or disturbing the peace of the ghost's sanctuary, e.g. interacting with the environment and running afoul of the spirit in some way. Your SANITY will be tracked in the moderator post, and while on its own it means little, you would be glad of it to never see it drop to zero.[break][break]
When a player triggers sanity loss, a NIGHTMARE sweeps over the area in the form of some ghostly attack. Every player in the immediate vicinity will suffer the penalty, regardless of if they triggered it.[break][break]
When a player triggers a NIGHTMARE, they will often be given a prompt to recover some of their lost sanity, but this comes at the cost of doing no investigating for the given round. They will generally require very specific moves in order to recover the sanity as well, which may also limit their decision.[break][break]
When a player reaches ZERO SANITY they are considered lost in their nightmare. This will trigger a NIGHTMARE for the entire thread, and the player(s) who've dropped to zero sanity will need to follow specific prompts before (and if) they can continue.[break][break]
CURSED POSSESSIONS [break]
While exploring the environment players will eventually uncover a few interactive items. The most unique among them are the CURSED POSSESSIONS, which are used directly to confront the haunting ghost pokemon. Aside from these, there are other items that are able to be gathered for additional prizes and offer clues as to the ghost's temperament or possibly its species.[break][break]
Some of them may even serve a secret purpose or function.[break][break]
When you have gathered sufficient evidence, your team should include their answer (or best guess) in their posts and invoke their corresponding CURSED POSSESSION. This will end the INVESTIGATIVE PHASE of your thread and immediately provoke what is essentially a BOSS ENCOUNTER or a form of PROMPT GAUNTLET. These may vary in difficulty and scope.[break][break]
Some cursed possessions must be brought to the correct room and activated, while others may be less restrictive. Follow the moderator post closely to figure out which yours may end up being.[break][break]
Your team must also decide together whether to EXORCISE or PACIFY the haunt. This will directly influence the encounter that will be prepared for you. Consider whether a haunting spirit seems aggressive or violent before exorcising it, or somber and resigned before helping it to seek closure and eventually acceptance.[break][break]
As you can imagine, these are very different routes, and will likely have very different requirements to complete.[break][break]

This encounter will provide a set of instructions and prompts for you to complete.[break][break] Invoking the cursed possession with INCORRECT KNOWLEDGE of the haunt's species may result in an UNUSUAL ENCOUNTER with an unwinnable outcome, so be mindful to collect enough evidence before making conclusions. THE HAUNTING ENCOUNTER
ONCE THE HAUNTING ENCOUNTER HAS BEGUN, players can only use pokemon that they already own to complete their thread prompts. These are generally tailored towards the species itself, and the method of approach the hunters have decided on. For every round a player is unable to contribute towards the thread prompt, they will incur a penalty to SANITY LOSS. Thus, if a team cannot complete a given prompt, their characters will succumb to the nightmare and their thread will end, and will be archived.[break][break]
Assuming players can fulfill all of the prompts listed, they will receive quite the bounty for their good deeds.[break][break]

SIGN-UP INSTRUCTIONS THIS MEMBER LED EVENT is designed as a prompt based move and/or ability gauntlet meant to imitate events like POISON PATROLS and TIERED TEA ROOMS while keeping to the spirit of the upcoming festivities.[break][break]
While the event is expected to wrap up by the beginning of NOVEMBER, this deadline is mostly player-side, and it could be that it takes quite some time to finish these threads on my end. You are making a long term commitment to these, remember that.[break][break]
In order to avoid overwhelming myself, invites to this event are semi-exclusive. There will not be many of these going out, but a team only has to have AT LEAST ONE (1) INVITEE to be eligible.[break][break]
Please note that while this event caters to those with a wider variety of pokemon, there will be few provisions to allow newly established members on the site an honest shot at progressing the activity. This is not a promise you will be able to succeed even with intervention.[break][break]
