The world is fucking ending. Naturally, that causes a certain amount of chaos all over the region. People acting up, pokémon acting up, etc. So, with everything currently going on, the article about this had been so small that most people probably hadn’t noticed it at all…

Mars had, though.

Even in the most business casual out of his outfits, he’s not dressed for farmlands, and yet it’s near the middle of a vast field that he stands. Scarecrows rise over tall stalks of corn in the distance, and by his side, an Unown idly hovers.

There had been reports of a strange pokémon appearing in the farmlands as of late.

"Uh-huh.... right.... Scarecrows," Razz repeats the farmer as they go on and on about the supernatural that has been haunting them. And while usually he is a sceptic to it all, Hoenn has been known for crazier so of course when Rosé got the job he was going to send Razz over. [break][break]

Its not long after he talks to him that Razz heads over toward the field of Miltank when he finds someone familiar. "Yo," Razz calls out to the banker as he walks along before he searches. The farmer had mentioned several people who he gave permission to look around as long as they didn't disturb his pokemon or crops. "I'm guessing you're here for the rumors Mr. Del Mar?"

Martín del Mar, here to help. Of course he is, right? It’s almost like P.O.G Bank’s second favourite tagline at this point: let’s all work together for the future of Hoenn! It had been way too easy to convince the farmers that he’s looking out for them when most people barely acknowledge their situation. In reality, though? If this is a rare pokémon like he suspects, then he’d sure like to keep it for himself.

”Oh, Kingsman. Good to see you.” Is it, though? Mars greets the ranger with a smile, and the Unown-X by his side even waves one of its short appendages. ”Yeah, saw it in the paper this morning. Rangers sent you?”

It’s the logical assumption.

His golden gaze turns to the fields once more, fixing on the closest scarecrow.

”What do you think it is? Since we’re here, we might as well work together.”

In the end, even if he doesn't get to keep the pokémon, helping is always good PR, isn't it? Especially given what will soon happen to Littleroot Town...

As the little Unown waves the dressed up Salem waves back excited to see peoples partner pokemon. Though he keeps on his trainer's right shoulder as he knows they're currently doing a job. He puts his hand to his chin in thought. "It could possibly be an invasive species if we want the more logical route, but when has Hoenn ever really been logical?"

It’s a legitimate question, because see, when it comes to newspapers Mars tends to only read the sections that he believes to be important. Which, of course, don’t usually say things like those.

That’s part of why when hearing about Razz’s suspicions, Mars finds himself agreeing, and inevitably so, he sighs at the thought. ”In Hoenn Invasive species does often mean something much different than what it does in other regions.”

The Unown that had been staring at Salem seems to decide to mimic the cat and lands on Mars’ shoulder. The banker doesn’t seem to mind it, well aware that Xero would prefer walking on the ground if the corn stalks weren’t so damn tall.

The young man gives a nod, "Yes, my neighbor gets them in their mail, been sent to me a few times by accident," he says with a shrug having been surprised about it when he first got the paper. Though his one visible eye does narrow some, "I'm still unsure if the people there are for real or if its all satire."[break][break]

There is a bit of dread when Mars mentions the other meaning behind their Invasive species. Especially after learning with GABRIEL BLACK and illeana reyes that there were possibly still remnants of Megaolpians here. Though that was an NDA he wasn't planning on breaking. "Yeah, why can't Hoenn have normal region problems?" [break][break]

With the mention of the scarecrow he does give a nod as he leads the way through the field. Though before they get too close Razz would make sure to hold out his hand to have the other stop. "I think it might be good if our pokemon looked at it first," he mentions figuring these things, if they were anything might not want to be active if they think humans watching. But pokemon? A different story.

Just as Razz has matters he’d rather not disclose, Mars finds himself thinking of what Velmos had claimed lies hidden beneath Littleroot. He highly doubts this “invasive pokémon” has anything to do with the unknown energy the Megalopolans had supposedly detected beneath the town, but if it somehow were connected, it also wouldn’t be a surprise.

There’s little that surprises him these days.

”Our pokémon? Sure, you think we should hide from it?”

It makes sense, and ultimately, anything his Unown sees will be seen by him as well. Not that Razz knows this, of course.

”Xero, go check out the scarecrow.”
[break][break]
The Unown makes a chirping sound, rising in the air once more and looking at Mars. He can see himself through the symbol’s gaze, but thankfully, he has begun to grow used to this connection between them.

After a moment, the Unown-X begins to make his way towards the scarecrow, watching it with endless curiosity.

"We should yes, as from what I hear things happen when humans aren't looking," thus Razz's logical conclusion of trying to stay hidden. Something he's learned enough with the rangers as having to blend in with the wild was something they are trained to do. Hopefully the banker could follow suit. [break][break]

Salem follows along in his little costume next to the Unown to check out the scarecrow. The thing was dressed up full on straw and patched up jacket., Even with a Pumpkin on the head, and it seems like it was well enough. Though seeing as how both Salem and the unown were psychic types it was probably easy for both of them to sense that something was off about it. [break][break]

As if sensing it has been caught by the pokemon it would flash lights from the pumpkin's eyes as a warning. Question was what would the two pokemon do?

Despite Mars’ sociable and charismatic persona, he does happen to know a thing or two about the importance of blending in and going unnoticed. It’s not the sort of thing anyone would expect him to favour, of course, and he definitely does not, but he is quite good at it when there’s a need for it. A lifetime of crime has taught him so.

Steps are quiet, he does not make a sound. He doesn’t even go out of his way to try to get a better look at the scarecrow, but that much is because of its own reasons…

The Unown gets a good look at the strange creature in front of it, circling around it in the air, and when the light flashes from the pumpkin’s eyes, the symbol suddenly moves closer, not attacking just yet.

”Hmm…. There’s definitely something there. Doesn’t look like the scarecrow is an illusion, though. Maybe a disguise?” The banker whispers all too quietly.

"You can tell from here?" Razz questions but decides not to give it much mind, as Salem does wave his hand to signal the Ranger that there was something supernatural about it. Which was good enough for him. Razz gives a quick whistle and Salem is quick to attack. [break][break]

With the use of a SHADOW BALL it blast back the alien like pokemon and blast off it's disguise. Salem seems to ask the Unown buddy to knock it out completely so they could finish it up here.

”I have great vision.” The response comes with ease, spoken nonchalantly, because ultimately, it’s nothing but the truth, isn’t it? Mars does have great vision, and that much is specially true during moments like these: when he sees what his Unown sees.

And what does this Unown-X see?

Lights. Red, yellow, and green; blinking in a pattern that is rather familiar. As a specialist in psychic type pokémon, the truth soon becomes all too obvious to him, but it would be suspicious to just tell Raziel Beckett before the pokémon even shows itself, wouldn’t it?

So, he watches and he waits.

SHADOW BALL strikes and the light blinks red, a strange beeping noise coming in its company. Definitely not a sound a scarecrow would make. What sounds do scarecrows make, anyway?

The Unown knows to attack then, and finding the weaknesses in its opponent, HIDDEN POWER is filled with eerie energy. Ghost. Super effective against Psychic. Just like the Meowstic’s attack had been.

The scarecrow shakes violently before an angry Beheeyem bursts out of it.

”Ah, guess there’s our mystery pokémon.”

Shame it wasn’t anything more interesting.
